  1. This is going to be quite interesting. I wonder why PTP don't just hold a peaceful rally in their own area to show support for the government. If they care so much for YS and TS. Owing their life to one family. Funny. But I don't think many supporters of the Reds will come out. I have a feeling the result of Corruption Case will be announced just before the 13th and all the government will be nullified. And there won't be any demonstration. Maybe wishful thinking.

That scenario has played out before. The airport seizure ended with dissolution. The siege at goverment house was over when Samak was sacked.

It seems just before the brink is reached with the anti-Thaksin side, the authorities pass down a timely judgement.

Unfortunately, when the redshirts reach their brink, it's the army who end the occupation.

The seige at government house finished when the protesters moved to the airport. They went to the airport to stop Somchai from landing there. The reason they were blockading government house was to stop the PPP government from passing some pro-Thaksin laws. They stopped the airport protest 2 days after the PPP being dissolved because they knew that PPP couldn't pass the law that they wanted. PTP (ex-PPP MPs that weren't banned) were acting government at that stage.

I'll accept your account of the events.

I'll stand by my theory that there appears to be a pressure release from the courts whenever the anti-Thaksin side get too close to the point of no return.

  3. I tried to read Jatuporn announcement "between the lines". I'm not shure I'm right, but I have the feeling that:

1: The red want a coup as well. They think that they will still win the elections even after reforms.

2: They expect that a lot of southern demonstrators will go back home if it becomes too dangerous to be in BKK.

I am curious about the strategy as well.

Could this be the suggestion of "Prem" ?

Is this the results of the New Year visit?

Don't forget, none of the UDD, PT or Red Shirts make any decisions themselves. It all comes from the man in Dubai.

    Does he want a coup?

Does he want the streets of Bangkok running with blood, should the Red Shirts make good their threat?

The millions that protested must have sent him him a massive message and he will surely have realised he's not getting his money back, no matter how big his election win maybe.

    He's running out of options.

Will street battles help his cause? I don't see how.

Will the inevitable coup help his cause? Not in my mind.

The election is becoming more doubtful by the day.

Keep your eyes on Yingluck and family. If they disappear overnight, it could mean all Hell's gonna break loose.

  4. Something I wonder about as the country slowly descends into mob rule, will farangs become targets for their rage? I keep hearing that many Thais hate us and only put up with us because we spend money. I don't know how true this is or even what percentage hate us if it is true but something to think about perhaps.

    Fairly weak attempt at trolling.

I hear many Thais love us. Especially 'long time'!

I asked a legitimate question because it is honestly something that is on my mind. Not trolling at all.

'You keep hearing Thais hate us' but you have no first hand evidence of it, do you? Otherwise you wouldn't have asked the question.

Do you stay locked in your hotel room/condo everyday? Or do you get out amongst them?

I certainly do and have done for 11 years and I've never had an issue with a Thai because I'm western.

  6. Just up from Central World on the bridge over the klong sits a guy everyday, begging with a plastic cup in his mouth.

On first glance you'd think the poor chap has no arms, but on closer inspection you can see his arms folded under his heavy denim shirt.

He wears the same shirt everyday and it looks like glue has been used to keep the baggy shape that hides his folded arms.

Thais are quite inventive at timesbiggrin.png

  7. 100,000 on the streets in a country of 50,000,000.

A small minority trying to impose their will on a large majority.

When will Bangkokians learn that Thailand is much bigger than just Bangkok?

Bangkok is not Thailand. It's a part of Thailand.

And when will posters learn that Thailand is bigger than 50 million cheesy.gif

Anyway, the greater metropolitan area is home to almost 20 million which is almost 30% of the population and well over 80% of the wealth creation so it stands to reason that voices carry weight around here...

Think on it a while... coffee1.gif

Whilst thinking on it, it occurred to me that quite a lot of those 20 millions who help to create the wealth, are not allowed to vote in Bangkok but must return "up country" to there home provinces if they wish to vote. Now, if the system was reformed to allow them to vote where they currently live, perhaps there would be a bit more red in the Bangkok political mix? Worth thinking on a bit isn't it?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Bangkok has 20 million and only 100,000 came out? So really, Suthep has only 5% of Bangkok supporting him. His cards are worse than I thought.

Looks like another winning hand vs Mr T, though.

How many years in exile? And how much money did he lose?

And now he's even further from his goals.

  8. 100.000 only???

What a loss of face for insane Suthep smile.png

And the majority were bought from the deep south...

    Sorry, "brought" smile.png

If it's only 100.000 it is a very good news. It means that there are less brainwashed extremists than I thought.

Sound people would never follow or support Suthep in his acts of treason and insurrection.

Boy, are you going to be disappointed!

  9. In less than 24 hours, Thailand will be crying and mourning its dead. They will look back and say, what have we done. Why did we listen to the false prophet Suthep.

In less than 24 hours, Thailand will be watching their soapies and eating som tam. They will look back and say, "I hope that lot is all over and we can get back to sticky rice and half day naps."

"Why did they ever think that Thaksin would give up control?"

Just thought I'd correct a couple of errors!

  10. Jasun poses an interesting question, "Where is Jatuporn?"

Something very odd about the disappearance of the red-shirt mouth pieces from the media after the rally shut down.

Jatuporn was making threats, Thida warned that the red shirt army would defend democracy, Kwanchai was itching for a fight and Arisaman, usually up for a verbal blast, was nowhere to be seen.

They obviously know something we don't!

  11. problem with an election is that Yingluck would be re elected. They have the money to pay for the votes needed. I think most people would like the whole Shinawatra clan out of Thailand for good

But that is exactly what all these protests are trying to achieve.

The end of the Thaksin regime and any involvement with politics and the end of corruption in the election process.

Suthep has said this many times (almost daily).

You speak as though all this country needs to do is remove the Shinawatra family and all will be good in Thailand. But who replaces them? These anti government people are not doing this in the name of democracy. It is to reap the rewards of being in "power" in Thailand.

At least with the current government you know who it is that is fuc&ing everybody over....with Suthep and others ...who knows. But mark these words, they will be as corrupt (or more ) than the current group.

If you seriously believe that the removal of this family will eliminate corruption in the election process you have absolutely no knowledge of Thai politics and should refrain from posting in the future.

One thing is for certain, corruption in Thailand will only get worse if there is no action against the Thaksin clan.

I don't believe for a second that corruption can be eliminated in Thailand. Not even seriously reduced but by attacking one of the highest profile criminals, it might send messages to the others that there is a form of accountability in Thailand.

Chalerm, Red Bull heir, et al.

Thaksin's biggest mistake was his arrogance in 'flipping the bird', so to speak, at the Thai population by firstly, installing his brother-in-law as PM, and then his sister.

  12. Renta Crowd going home…money must have run out!!

It's probably pertinent to mention that the majority of the red shirts live in Bangkok, and surrounding provinces.

Places like Din Daeng, Khlong Toei, Lad Phrao Road and the Bearing area.

When the sh*t hit the fan three years ago, all the trouble in my area was caused by young motocycle hooligans, not rice farmers bused in.

So I wouldn't think that things will necessarily settle down now that the red shirt rally has come to a halt.

  13. What a load of dross. I went to Phuket in 1991, and the sex shows were alive and well there then. Now, there are even more. Phuket is a steaming turd in the Andaman, and anyone that has spent anytime there knows that Patong is no different than Pattaya. It's a shame, as there are some nice spots there, but most of the comments by the authorities are just usual BS.

I was given a run down of the shows available in Phuket at least 20 years ago, by a friend who had holidayed there, and Bangkok in the last 10 years is quite tame in comparison.

  14. I was born with blue eyes Now in my adult life I have Green Eyes

    Go figure

    Light eyes are light sensitive

If your falang then we are all born with blue eyes.

Hmm, read this ten times and I still don't get it.

    Can someone enlighten me?

  15. Don;t even know this site, is it so important or does it belong to a friend to have to talk about it ?

I find it an informative site for anything Thai.

Pretty much a mature site without all the chldish bickering, as witnessed in this thread, that plagues Thaivisa.

Therefore I'm surprised it gets a mention here as it might draw away TV's more intelligent members. tongue.png

  16. Far too many of them wouldn't listen, they just wouldn't listen. Even in that article it says there are plenty of stories to warn them of the dangers,

We even had guys on TV boasting last week that were ready to make the same mistakes, even on here, they won't listen.

You can't stop a fool being a fool.

They wouldn't listen. Up to them.

    I'm sorry..did you say something?

  17. God help me if I ever find myself needing the help of the unknown, faceless members of thaivisa to solve a personal problem.

I shouldn't really specifically mention TV members over any other local forum as a bad idea, the advice of complete strangers should always taken with a grain of salt.

But one has to question the number of internet experts willing to offer their worldly advice.

I hope the op is just another troll

  18. A good place to start, Get all the vendors off Sukumvit and put them in the many vacant lots with rented stalls !!

Continue the walkway under the BTS from Soi 28 to Siam Station so people can walk without the sidewalk being full of vendors and hawkers.

It's not Sukhumvit, but according to my translator, there are moves to remove all sidewalk vendors from Rajaprarop Road near the Indra Hotel/ shopping complex.

There are large signs opposite the shopping centre protesting a decision to remove all sidewalk vendors and relocate them in the new Pratunam market.

  19. Was there any Black Shirts there honoring the martyr's. Or do they have no honor?

Yes, I did see some young guys dressed up in all-black. I presume they weren't the 'real deal' but paying the illusive black-shirts some respect.

I did manage a small chuckle as I was being herded out of Central World at one o'clock.

I looked at all the Red-shirts taking refuge inside from the heat and thought 'Well if you hadn't burned the place down 3 years ago, they might have let you cool off! Som nam na"
