Go to"Star Visa" near US Consulate 419/3 Wichayanon Rd 053-232 412. Very knowledgeable, especialy US issues, and do the Thai marriage MFA etc very cost effectively.

Ya, they put the seat number on the back side of the seat. So folks end up taking the seat behind the one their ticket assigns them.

If this is true (Jomtien Soi 5?) that is new info to me too. Anybody have further explicit details about this?

Oh oh, I just realized I was reading Ekamai to Jomtien, not Jomtien to Ekamai. Apologize.
-
Unless I'm reading it wrong, it sure looks to me like there are some buses between the Jomtien Foodland station & Ekamai. If so, that makes me happy as well. I'm copying marin's link for emphasis: Ekkamai to Jomtien Bus station by flight, bus, taxi, train, van from THB 164 ✅ (12go.asia)

Any problems depositing in Thai partner’s account…..?
OneZero replied to mikey88's topic in Chiang Mai
I remember being told once by a Thai real estate agent that banks are supposed to advise RTG of transfers 2,000,000 Baht & larger. But there was no insinuation that RTG would worry or investigate such advice, unless of course RTG was already suspicious or investigating the account for other reasons (drugs, money laundering, etc). -

Those are very nice climbing & sleeping boxes attached to your wall. They indicate how you feel about all of your family. I'm sure that Lily & her 3 kitties appreciate your support and are happy to still be united together.

Like cmjc I hope Lily's family can stay together. Perhaps harder to find someone willing & able to adopt, but Lily & her family will be happier together (that's been my observation with our 5 cats). Being cat parents will demand future time & financial obligations, and initially many will want to think twice before volunteering. But if it is the right time in your life to take it on, and once the mutual love has been established in the human/cat family, the emotional rewards can be tremendous. cmjc, I will provide you the other 50% of neutering expenses for Lily & her 3 kittens. We can correspond privately at your convenience on precisely how for me to transfer the money to your account. I hope you can be patient enough to keep them together while vetting potential owners.

Pardon my ignorance, but Which soi is soi welcome?

Giving this a bump. When you show each other love they are indeed "family". I would like to help them myself, but I have already taken 5 little guys into my condo.

I mentioned she should get appt at Chiang Mai Consulate to ask for transfer of unexpired US visa to her new updated Thai passport. Wife says friends tell her there is no need to transfer a current US visa to her new Thai passport. They tell her to simply carry both old & new Thai passports when travel to US. I'm playing Devil's Advocate to avoid an unfortunate surprise at US Immigration entry. Anybody have experience to offer?

Buying condo in easter holidays
OneZero replied to Trac's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Lots of good questions above. Also, I was just wondering about your comment, quote "A medium five-digit amount is available.." I assume that was US Dollars - $50,000 - $99,000. Is that correct? If so that is approx 1.5 -3.0 million baht. That amount is doable. -
This thread has been very helpful for me so I thought I would continue it. If I do not get any informative replies I will start a new thread with a title identifying Chiang Mai's "St Peter Eye Hospital". หมอตาเชียงใหม่ Eye Doctor Chiangmai | St Peter Eye Hospital รพ.ตาเซนต์ปีเตอร์ (stpeter-eye.com) A retired Thai CMU professor asked me why I had not already considered going to the doctors at the above specialty equipped eye hospital located on superhighway between Lotus Kamtien and Chang Puak road heading south. He mentioned that eye doctors from other hospital will frequently be there on Sundays and by appointment at other times. I did not have an answer for him (except thinking to myself that perhaps being a specialty equipped hospital it is more expensive for similar procedures, I just don't know). Request any available experience and price comparisons for Cataracts at St Peter Eye Hospital.

Sorry for repeatedly posting but just want to add that there were some past threads on "Jomtien Complex Condotel" (JCC) but the links I saved don't open now. Since everybody has different tastes & requirements it would have been a good review for you to get different opinions. I did however manage to save what one person posted, Quote: "I've also spent considerable time in Jomtien Complex Condotel, and I should mention a few things: With regard to the above comment about the pool temperature, this pool (which is located on the 4th floor, not in the ground) is virtually always cool - and it's exceptionally long: 35 meters. It's a great pool for swimming laps, and it's very well maintained. Directly attached to the lobby of this building are three restaurants, a convenience store, a private mailbox business, a real estate office, and a laundry service. The 4th floor common area (which also has the pool) has a self-service laundry, a drinking water machine (for refilling water containers), free wi-fi, and an exercise room with workable equipment, a snooker table, and table tennis. This building also has a 3 or 4 story parking garage, and restaurants and shops in Jomtien Complex are directly accessible via the lobby. It's also about a 200 meter walk to the beach, and it has 2 tennis courts. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, since VT7 was built, the sea view which many of the condos in this building originally enjoyed are now blocked. And the majority of the rooms are large (66 sq. meter) studios, which are (also unfortunately) long and narrow, which means that they can feel a bit like a cave due to the lack of natural light, especially at the end of the room farthest from the balcony. I very much like all the amenities this building offers, but unless you happen to have a high floor condo in building B (which still has an ocean view, to the side of VT7), I don't think I would want to live in it long-term. I hope this is helpful." End quote

PS, I am an owner there. I think that most of those owners who rent out their rooms would desire a long term rental contract if they can get it.

Everything is personal choice, but I agree with yours; and suggest at your age that Jomtien Beach on baht bus route is a better choice than Pattaya proper. We spend 6mo in Chiang mai & 6 mo in Jomtien (start Jomtien in March to leave bad CM air). I'm not pushing anything but 68 sq meter studios well furnished in the heart of Jomtien can be had for less than 20K. Try googling Jomtien Complex Condotel - it fits our needs perfectly. There are several real estate offices on ground floor. If you pm me I can provide mobile# of one I have dealt with.

200K/month or 200k/year? I only ask because thresholds may have an impact upon the answer. -
Where Recommend Hearing Loss Consultation /Treatment
OneZero replied to OneZero's topic in Chiang Mai
Just sharing my experience today Sat 03Sep22 at DEAR HEARING CENTER, 203 Suthep Road. FYI it's located opposite the CMU School of Pharmacy, hours 0900-1800, closed Sunday. The audio test was 400 Baht with immediate service. My guess is Sriphat would have costed more (weight, blood pressure, pulse, etc) & been an unknown wait to see the doctor. I was initially expecting to see some white frocked individuals pretending to be doctors (like in those eye glass stores) but that was not the case. I'm not an experienced judge of audio folks expertise but I was impressed with the staff professionalism /apparent knowledge, and without trying to push a hard sell. We discussed what I had learned from the posters to this thread (programable device, blue tooth, etc etc) and physically tried the different priced models. They had 4 rechargeable models (non-rechargeable a bit cheaper) priced per hearing aid (ie, one ear) baht 45K, 65K, 95K & 145K depending on the number of program channels it had. Based upon my audio test and trying the different models we agree that the 65K model was fine for me. There was agreement not to buy a higher priced unnecessary model. Being a newbie & based upon all of the above I decided to make the purchase from them, rather than invent my own wheels purchasing something by myself on the internet (internet could be an option for someone more experienced). I also decided to spend an extra 16K for a device to fit to a TV sending a signal /sound directly to the hearing aid. So, I hopefully won't blow out anymore TV speakers. That brought my total cost up to 81K Baht: One ear Hearing Aid (65K) & one TV Device (16K). Also, for anyone covered by TRICARE (US military retiree health insurance), TRICARE will NOT reimburse for a retiree's hearing aid(s). I would guess that VA might cover hearing aids, but suspect only if upon the physical exam given when exiting service there was a VA Dr Approved Service Connected hearing Disability noted. -

Where Recommend Hearing Loss Consultation /Treatment
OneZero replied to OneZero's topic in Chiang Mai
Thanks again Folk Guitar, My interpretation of your experience leads me to believe that my initial task is to get an appointment with an audiologist (e.g., like at Sriphat) for their sound test and advice / recommendation. My second task would be to obtain the latest modern technology hearing aid myself (online, local store, etc TBD), with an emphasis on getting one that is user friendly so that I can personally adjust it myself. Am I thinking correctly on this? If so, I will probably indeed be accepting your offer Folk Guitar, ie contact you personally as to your recommendation ref where /how to best purchase such a device. BTW, an added thought ref anyone thinking of insurance assisting with purchase of the device itself. (I'm not sure if my insurance (TRICARE) would cover the physical device itself). But, any insurer would most likely require full receipt documentation to include at least the following in English: Patient / Purchaser's full name, the Company providing the device, an exact Technical /Nomenclature description of the specific device and its Cost (plus probably a copy of the audiologist's recommendation of the need for the device). -
