Tia's grave on CMU campus. Tia running with the students near Wat Doi Suthep. He was greatly loved by all the students, and they were heartbroken over the incident. An angry student rumor is that a well-placed untouchable (& therefore unpunished) professor was behind the hiring of the young, enlisted cop to do a hit job on Tia (motive - speculation). Thia Mor Chor pronounced Tia Maw Chaw is simply Tia MC (Tia Maha Witialai Chiang Mai, Tia Chiang Mai University). His legs were short, thus the name Tia (short). He was simply lovingly referred to as "Tia".

Rhetorical question. With the current Constitution & an appointed Senate, it absolutely still applies. -

The cause of this huge discrepancy between electoral results and the current standoff is a Constitution with an unelected Senate, both of which were installed by a military coup. The root cause of this can perhaps, at least in part, be traced back to the Thai historical traditional cultural acceptance of Patronage (with the monarchy at the root of that). When will the Thai public finally recognize what is holding them back, move into the modern world culturally, and stand up against such an absurdity?

I Apologize for not being up to date on this case. Two of the suspects already confessed to what? Just negligence or something criminal? Quote: "Previously, suspects Tanuthaphat “Poh” Lertwittayawiset and Paiboon “Robert” Trikanjananun had confessed their involvement." -

Can Thailand’s political parties take us out of the middle-income trap?

I agree, long explanations would be necessary to properly explain it all to the uninitiated. Then those long explanations would be debated, argued, criticized. I'll give you the short answer: Historical Patronage* culture (starting at the top - the very very top) supporting Corruption. * In this system, the patrón holds authority and influence over a less powerful person, whom he protects by granting favors in exchange for loyalty and allegiance ...(ie, keeping your mouth shut). -
PS, I think perhaps, but am not 100% positive, that one could just go to the bank to ask them to stop the auto ceductions from your own account. In any event I have decided to forgo the auto deduction option.

thaitero, jacko45k, I appreciate both of your comments. I was wondering about this in the event I sell the condo and somebody else moves in without setting up their own payments. Accordingly, I have decided against the auto debit option. Thank you.

I think there is no need to go to Pattaya City Hall to respond to the first "notice" unless City hall needs to be advised of anything not current or in error on that notice. If all is correct, just wait for the bill. BTW, if you have a condo that is your "primary residence", & a yellow book for that specific condo which confirms it is your "primary" residence, then show the yellow book to City Hall to have the tax "forgiven" (if the condo assessment does not exceed a ceiling amt, perhaps 5 million baht).
