  1. whenever the supermarkets have a two for one,why does the price double? and when the promotion is over the price of a single item goes up .

just got some small toms from carefour ,cost originally 21 baht ,two for one promotion 36 baht. do they think we dont notice?

Crefour is French company not thai

Pattaya is not a family city and never will be until they get rid of the sex tourists. They will have to do more than just offer free rooms to get decent people with families there. Who is going to spend more a family of 5 or one sex offender.

It depends on where you stay with the family , theres a lot of activities for families in the Pattaya area , just avoid the bars and you'll have a nice family holiday.

I'll second that if you remain in the Jomtien/Bangsarey area.

so you are saying a family has to stay in one area because it is to dangerous to move around ? That is exactly what I have been told and that is why you do not get the families going there just the sicko's

Activities for families what running and hidding from those that crawl the streets there looking for children. I know a lot of thai families who vow that they would never take thier children near Pattaya. Sorry I don't think so not Pattaya or any of the beach areas in Thailand we take our children overseas where it is safe for families.

  4. Pattaya has been going on now for years about being family city and wants to get away from the sex image

So It would be a logical step to give free room or even a pay for 4 and get 3 free in the better quality hotels to families

    What is a family

A couple with a child or children under the age of 15

Puts a stop to the sex tourist getting free accommodation

Maybe your right and no one will take them up on this

But you have to be in it to win

  5. Flew to Melbourne from Bangkok last Sunday (12th) via thai airways the plane was packed... Flew back to Bangkok on the 15th and the plane was empty maybe 50 people... I think the thai people have destroyed thier tourist industry and it will take many many years I feel to recover. I lot of thais will loose thier jobs because of the stupidity of a small minority

and the Immigration Division will continue to contribute their share to damage the damage done even more! Sic!

I fly in and out every 28 days and I have not really had a problem with immigration. well one time I came in on my one year multiple entry visa and the immigration official stamped it used and said it was only good for 2 entries. This was soon sorted out by a very nice female immigration officer who came to my rescue issued me with a new 1 year visa free of charge and appoligised.

I do realise a few people have problems with immigration but I think that this is only a minor problem

  7. :o I have read these posts and there are a number of good points made by some but also some stupid ones.

All the stategies in the world can be put in place to try and curb the road toll but these alone are not going to fix the problem. It has to start with some very serious education and this will not happen overnight it will take a generation to finally start to see real results. You have to start today not tomorrow.

I have seen my fair share of carnage on the roads having served as a police officer for over 20 years and during this time been involved in implementing various strategies and serving on a number of road safety commitees so I do have some insight.

  8. I wonder out of the 300+ death, how many are realy cost by accident, and how many are shot by the army during the crash.

Shot by the Army during the crash????????? What do you mean???? You saying that the army come out to an accident and put down the injured like a mongrel dog. Guess it saves calling an ambulance and tying up the hospital emergency ward.

  9. These red and yellow shirts do not represent the views of the majority but they are tearing the country apart. Thier actions are going to completely destroy the tourist industry and have a grave impact on the thai economy which is already struggling. It is going to take years for Thailand to recover because of the actions of the last 6 months

  10. baht 1 mil you have got to be kidding me. That would not even cover personal expenses involved in such a task. Then I turn up at BKK airport with thaskin in tow he is handed over to authorities who take all the glory. I receive my 1m baht then get arrested by the same thai authorities because I didn't have a work permit. Out of pocket for legal fees and not to mention medical costs after being thrown into a cell with a mob of red shirts. Sorry not a task for this farang....

  11. I have True visions which does not show any afl games. Does anyone know how I can access?

  12. ST KILDA managed a rare interstate win against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium of Friday night, winning 15.11 (101) to Adelaide's 10.9 (69).

The win was only St Kilda's fifth win at AAMI Stadium in 18 years and also improves the club's poor interstate record, which was at a lowly 28 per cent beofre this match.

Justin Koschitzke followed up his good performance last week with an imposing showing up forward, booting four goals and getting the better of Ben Rutten throughout.

The Saints opened up a 21-point lead midway through the third quarter, but saw the Crows fight back to close the gap to one-point in the last quarter before kicking five goals to seal the victory.

Nick Dal Santo was great for the Saints through the midfield, with 35 possessions, while Sam Fisher was great in defence keeping the Crows to just 10 goals.

While, Adelaide was close to St Kilda for most of the game, they didn't have the firepower up forward despite both Kurt Tippett and Jason Porplyzia kicking three goals apiece.

The Crows managed to get plenty of the ball, largely through handballs but did not have a consistent target inside 50.

Adelaide's night was further soured by another injury setback to forward Trent Hentschel, not taking the field in the second half with a suspected quad strain.

In a game that ebbed and flowed, the Crows kicked the opening goal of the game through Porplyzia, but despite kicking into a significant breeze, the Saints hit back with three quick goals to Nick Riewoldt, Koschitzke and Steven King, as the talls started to dominate for the visitors.

The Saints were applying plenty of pressure around the stoppages, King in particular dominating in the ruck early on, while the midfielders squeezed their Adelaide counterparts.

Despite creating plenty of openings it was Adelaide that notched its second goal against the run of play, Hentschel marking strongly on the goal line and kicking his first goal in the competition for more than two and a half years following his return from a knee injury.

In the shadows of quarter time, the Saints deservedly restored their two goal lead as Koschitzke again outmarked Rutten to slot his second goal.

The Crows raced out of the blocks at the start of the second term, Kurt Tippett kicking a couple of majors, while at the other end, a magnificent last ditch tackle by Graham Johncock on Adam Schneider denied the small-forward a certain goal.

Both sides appeared to be struggling with the wind as numerous kicks missed their targets, but it was the Crows who were starting to settle, showing a greater sense of urgency.

That urgency allowed Ivan Maric to kick the Crows third of the quarter, the home side hitting the front briefly in the second quarter before Leigh Montagna launched a long bomb from outside 50m to take back the lead for the final time.

Montagna, playing in his 100th match, racked up an impressive 18 disposals in the first half and he was again influential in the build-up to Farren Ray's strong mark and goal.

The half time siren denied Stephen Milne the chance to extend the Saints lead as the visitors headed to half time leading by 10 points.

With just 30 seconds on the clock in the third quarter, Jarryn Geary capitalised on an Adelaide mistake to put the Saints further in front.

Bernie Vince kicked a quick reply with a snap from the boundary, but again the Saints kicked two quick goals through Stephen Milne and Michael Gardiner to give them a 21 point lead as the Saints man-on-man strategy started to control the game.

However, the Crows responded with goals to Taylor Walker and a brace from the ever influential Porplyzia, but wasted a guilt-edged chance when Walker hit the post with Porplyzia free.

With a tense final quarter in store the Saints kicked two early behinds, but it was the Crows who slotted the first goal, Tippett hauling down Zac Dawson to close the gap to one-point.

The game was in the balance, but it was the Saints who stood tall, Schneider crumbing and snapping before Koschitzke marked strongly from Riewoldt's errant kick to open the lead to 14 points.

The game was wrapped up when Riewoldt and Goddard kicked goals in time on to put the icing on the cake for the Saints.

  13. 11:21 AM Tue 07 April, 2009NICK Dal Santo is making the early running in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year, after impressing both St Kilda coach Ross Lyon and Adelaide coach Neil Craig in round two.

Dal Santo won nine votes for his performance in Friday night’s victory at AAMI Stadium. In round one he scooped a maximum 10 votes after St Kilda’s opening win over the Sydney Swans.

Hot on the big Saint’s heels is two-time winner Gary Ablett, whose 29 touches against Richmond at Skilled Stadium won him best-on-ground honours from both coaches.

Matching Ablett’s achievement in round two were ruckmen Josh Fraser (Collingwood) and Sydney Swan Darren Jolly, and Carlton tyro Bryce Gibbs.

Gibbs is fourth overall, after having picked up a further five votes in round one.

In the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year – the only award voted for by the coaches themselves – coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.

Past winners of the prestigious award include Gary Ablett Jr (2007-08), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).

  14. Tribunal faces a busy Tuesday evening, with five cases to be decided.

Four players chose to challenge the penalties offered by the match review panel, while Sydney Swan Brett Kirk had no option of taking an early plea, with his case referred directly to the tribunal.

Kirk has been charged with recklessly making contact with an umpire during the second quarter of the match against Hawthorn.

Essendon’s Adam McPhee will contest a level three offence for striking Scott Thornton of Fremantle, and his existing bad record means he is risking a three-week suspension.

Port Adelaide's Daniel Motlop has neither a good nor bad record but is carrying demerit points, and faces a two-week ban if found guilty for his level-two offence for striking West Coast’s Adam Hunter.

North Melbourne’s Michael Firrito has been charged with a level one striking offence against Western Bulldog Brad Johnson, but will play next week no matter what the tribunal decides, as his demerit points are below the 100 required for suspension.

Brisbane Lion Luke Power has been charged with a first offence for making negligent contact with an umpire, and faces a $2600 fine.

Three players accepted sanctions on Tuesday:

    • Richmond’s Jake King will carry 93.75 demerit points after taking a reprimand for engaging in rough conduct against Geelong’s Steve Johnson
    • Western Bulldog Jason Akermanis has accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points for bumping or making forceful contact from front-on against Kangaroo Scott Thompson
    • Angus Monfries (Essendon) has accepted a $1950 sanction for making negligent contact with an umpire.

  15. Any places in chiangmai that do this sort of thing? I get the games on TV at home via the Australian network but would be nice to get out to a bar with a lot of other aussies over a few beers and a game. Hard to watch at home with a thai wife who doesn't understand the game and thinks I am crazy sitting outside in front of the TV for 3 hours drinking a lone beer or even listening to it via 3AW radio on the net.

  16. Any AFL fans...

Where do you go to see your team? I've been to:

    The Office (sukhumvit soi 33)

    Bus Stop (sukhumvit soi 4)

The Office is good but a little unreliable as it sometimes plays rugby instead and Bus Stop is not that good as it's uncomfortable and hard to hear.

    Any better recommendations?

There's an Aussie bar in Suk soi7/1 sponsored by *puke* Fosters that has one <deleted>-off big screen and the owner Rob promises to have the AFL on.

    Also does complimentary barbys too.

Only problem is the place is full of Australians. :o

Found this link on You Tube some Thai woman knocking the great game of ours.

So where is this place (Chiangmai) full of aussies during an AFL match sounds like the place for me. BBQ a few beers and the AFL heaven in thailand....

Round two is over and the saints are cruising at the moment.

  17. http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/13...-thailand-image PM worries about Thailand image By: BangkokPost.com Published: 20/02/2009 at 10:07 AM Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Friday expressed concerns about Thailand's image as the red-shirt supporters plan to hold rallies during the 14th Asean Summit. He, however, said he is confident that the summit will serve as an opportunity for Thailand to restore confidence as it is serving as the host of the summit. The premier said he is not worried that the planned rallies of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) will make the Asean leaders to skip the summit.

A bit late to start worrying about Thailands Image Now (PAD) and the airport closure. I am afraid Thailand took a battering on the International playing field over that fiasco. Tourists wont forget that anytime soon.

The Red Shirt plans to hold rallies. Please Mr Abhisit don't get your Knickers in a twist about Plans to hold rallies.

Sit back and have A nice Thai Cocktail Relax and think, Maybe help the Hotels in Tourist areas would be a start.

Or bring down the Value of the Baht.

Now I am loosing it so time to go

So true the airport demo's did thailand a great diservice. I have flown from Aus to chiangmai 3 times this year and the planes (Thai Air) have been empty. Good for me plenty of room to sleep.
