  1. No need for an ETD, the UK passport is valid for travel as is the Thai passport for the return trip. When you say only three months validity on the passport, do you mean now or on the date of arrival, how long is the trip? You wouldn't be able to leave the UK on an expired passport, but she'd exit on the Thai passport in any case.
  2. Yes, not helping others though managing to save a bottle of wine, absolutely sickening. ????
  3. We lived nearby in Ekkamai at the time of that dreadful fire, 66 perished as I recall, with many more receiving terrible burns leaving them scarred for life. The dreadful pungent smell hung around for ages.
  4. I think the "recent introduction" rule depends on which branch, and maybe even which member of staff you draw. We very recently tried to open a joint account at a Kasikorn Branch in Bangkok, where we already had individual accounts. The lass told us that it was a new requirement of the Bank of Thailand that I produced a letter from my Embassy, not a Residence Certifcate, this claim was confirmed by her manager, but my question asking what the Embassy had to confirm, met with blank stares from them both. No point in arguing but we made a call to Kasikorn HQ who confirmed there was no such requirement, old or new, she didn't mention any requirement for a RC. She she suggested that we return to the branch and ask again and if we got the same response we should call her and she would speak to the team member, she gave us her personal number. My wife didn't want the clerk to lose face so she suggested we went to the main branch on Silom, where our account was opened without further ado.
  5. It's worth noting that many add on fees, like taxes and surcharges cannot be used with the credit "Air Ticket Cash Credit Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other additional fees, ticket taxes and surcharges of Royal Orchid Plus, fees associated with revenue ticket or any other THAI products and services"
  6. @monsieurhappyThat’s not an accurate, or even well worded, response and, given that the British Embassy play no part in the Visa process whatsoever, I suspect the reply didn’t come from them. I suspect the response came from the staff at VFS, who also play no direct part in the decision making process. The UKVI Standards dictate that 90% of non-settlement applications are processed within 3 weeks, 98% within 6 weeks and 100% within 12 weeks of the application date, of course they’re no where achieving their Customer Service Standard, blaming the influx of applications from Ukraine. I read that they’re now claiming an average of six weeks, but don’t disclose that the average includes those paying for the priority service, pushing the rest of us further and further down the queue. The cynical amongst could think it’s a ploy to encourage more of us to pay for quicker processing.
  7. @jack71You should apply via the consulate that has juristiction for your main destiation, ie where your spending the longest time, so it really depends how long you're staying in each country, it looks like you'll spend longer in Austria. If you are intending to spend an equal amount of time in Austria and Hungary, then you should apply at the consulate with juristiction for your point of entry. Some member states are very picky about this, especially the French. I'm pretty sure that a course may need a Student Visa, it may depend on the course but the course provider may have an issue with it if you don't have the correct visa https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/student-schengen-visa/ My wife and I stayed in Vienna a few years ago and did a side trip to Budapest by train, absolutely loved it, stayed up in the old ramparts in Budapest.
  8. Post giving incorrect "advice" and along with a "measured" response removed.
  9. She really needs to show that she has strong ties to her home country, Thailand. You sending her funds every month will do little to achieve that, the decision maker could assume, rightly or wrongly, that she would stay with her benefactor in the EU rather that return to Thailand and her not well paying job.

  11. That would make it too easy for the applicants.
  12. Not sure what you actually mean by that? You can do a short covering letter outlining the reason for the visit, and details of the finances, if you and your partner are in a subsisting relationship here in Thailand detail that as her reason to return. If you are staying with your son, then a brief note outlining would be helpful.
  13. Yes the applicant can take your supporting evidence to the Visa Application Centre and pay a small fee for VFS to upload them If you decided not to self-upload your documents onto the UK platform. Not sure that a nice neat file is going to make a lot of difference, VFS say they will help with preparing, sorting and arranging your supporting documents and documents will be arranged using the required barcode separators. Whatever they decide the applicant still needs to visit the Application Centre to have their biometric details cuptured. https://visa.vfsglobal.com/tha/en/gbr/premium-services

  15. This seems to imply that she wouldn't be entitled to the Personal Allowance, though may be able to claim the tax on the PA annually, unless she qualifies under the double taxation rules - I'm really not sure though Personal Allowance You’ll get a Personal Allowance of tax-free UK income each year if any of the following apply: you hold a British passport you’re a citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) country you’ve worked for the UK government at any time during that tax year You might also get it if it’s included in the double-taxation agreement between the UK and the country you live in. Claim the Personal Allowance If you’re not a UK resident, you have to claim the Personal Allowance at the end of each tax year in which you have UK income. Send form R43 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
  16. It's certainly intention to present a statement emailed to me by Bangkok Bank next year. But I'll also purchase a statement from Bangkok, via my local branch, to present in the case that the IO I deal with on the day isn't prepared to embrace the Governments digitel iniative.
  17. A visa agent for what service, applying for a visa for overseas or for within Thailand?
  18. l would have thought that most applicants living in Thailand would be able to comply with the Table A requirements by supplying “one document as evidence of name and address and/or residency within the last year” using the residency proof, maybe “Visa or residence permit (or colour photocopy)” or “Immigration documents”.
  19. From the Wise website Please note that you’ll be able to send 50,000 THB or above per transfer only to the following banks starting from 7 January 2022 due to regulatory changes: Bangkok Bank Public Company Kasikorn Bank Siam Commercial Bank You can still send money to recipient accounts that use other banks, but you’ll only be allowed to send them up to 49,999 THB per transfer. There’s no limit on how many transfers you can create. https://wise.com/help/articles/2932335/guide-to-thb-transfers
  20. Click on accounts, next to the home icon at the foot of your screen Click on the account that you want a statement for Click on the three dots on the top right corner of your screen The option to request a statement is there
  21. You can now get up to 12 months if you apply via their App, it's a new service and I did a succesfully did a trial run yesterday, the statement was delivered in about 30 mins via email. Of course, as we both wondered, it really depends what the IO's take would be, most certainly don't like to make things straightforward.
  22. I bank with Kasikorn, I opened an account with Bangkok Bank for the sole purpose of receiving funds from my UK account, I transfer on receipt to my Kasikorn Account. I registered to receive Credit Advices and they are sent out automatically, usually about 45 mins after the funds reach my account. Another plus point is that most of the incoming transfers are on the same page, and the IO doesn't need to check the book line by line. You can now get statements for up to 12 months via the BKK Bank App, they are delivered via email. Though I'm not sure if the IO's would accept these, as it would be too easy for the applicant.
