I think the "recent introduction" rule depends on which branch, and maybe even which member of staff you draw. We very recently tried to open a joint account at a Kasikorn Branch in Bangkok, where we already had individual accounts. The lass told us that it was a new requirement of the Bank of Thailand that I produced a letter from my Embassy, not a Residence Certifcate, this claim was confirmed by her manager, but my question asking what the Embassy had to confirm, met with blank stares from them both. No point in arguing but we made a call to Kasikorn HQ who confirmed there was no such requirement, old or new, she didn't mention any requirement for a RC. She she suggested that we return to the branch and ask again and if we got the same response we should call her and she would speak to the team member, she gave us her personal number. My wife didn't want the clerk to lose face so she suggested we went to the main branch on Silom, where our account was opened without further ado.

@monsieurhappyThat’s not an accurate, or even well worded, response and, given that the British Embassy play no part in the Visa process whatsoever, I suspect the reply didn’t come from them. I suspect the response came from the staff at VFS, who also play no direct part in the decision making process. The UKVI Standards dictate that 90% of non-settlement applications are processed within 3 weeks, 98% within 6 weeks and 100% within 12 weeks of the application date, of course they’re no where achieving their Customer Service Standard, blaming the influx of applications from Ukraine. I read that they’re now claiming an average of six weeks, but don’t disclose that the average includes those paying for the priority service, pushing the rest of us further and further down the queue. The cynical amongst could think it’s a ploy to encourage more of us to pay for quicker processing.

@jack71You should apply via the consulate that has juristiction for your main destiation, ie where your spending the longest time, so it really depends how long you're staying in each country, it looks like you'll spend longer in Austria. If you are intending to spend an equal amount of time in Austria and Hungary, then you should apply at the consulate with juristiction for your point of entry. Some member states are very picky about this, especially the French. She really needs to show that she has strong ties to her home country, Thailand. You sending her funds every month will do little to achieve that, the decision maker could assume, rightly or wrongly, that she would stay with her benefactor in the EU rather that return to Thailand and her not well paying job.

Not sure what you actually mean by that? You can do a short covering letter outlining the reason for the visit, and details of the finances, if you and your partner are in a subsisting relationship here in Thailand detail that as her reason to return. If you are staying with your son, then a brief note outlining would be helpful.

Yes the applicant can take your supporting evidence to the Visa Application Centre and pay a small fee for VFS to upload them If you decided not to self-upload your documents onto the UK platform. Not sure that a nice neat file is going to make a lot of difference, VFS say they will help with preparing, sorting and arranging your supporting documents and documents will be arranged using the required barcode separators. A visa agent for what service, applying for a visa for overseas or for within Thailand?

l would have thought that most applicants living in Thailand would be able to comply with the Table A requirements by supplying “one document as evidence of name and address and/or residency within the last year” using the residency proof, maybe “Visa or residence permit (or colour photocopy)” or “Immigration documents”.
