  1. I think a number of us may be in the same boat, I certainly am, I can't fully understand the expanatory notes though it seems to imply that a recipient of a widows pension resident here would be taxed and would then have to go through the claims procedure, I suspect my wife may well struggle to understand the procedure. The tax on the Personal Allowance element is is about 9,400 Baht a month, so not an insignificant amount.
  2. Kasikorn added some extra pages a year or so, or rather stapled a slip with an extra page, when I deposited some cash in another branch, I was advised that I'd have to go the branch that held my account to get a new book.
  3. Likewise, my wife has already got a letter confirming she entitled to 50% of my current Civil Service Pension on my demise, and my young neice has been nominated to act on her behalf to navigate the claim system when the time comes, thankfully Sara thinks the world of my wife. What we don't know yet if she would be will be entitled the Personal Tax Allowance if she lives in Thailand, the tax difference is about 9,400 Baht a month.
  4. The headline in the article differs from the text. People will need to show proof of vaccine or negative test to visit restaurants in Hua Hin
  5. How long is she intending to be away for? She can exit Thailand using her Thai passport, but she would need to show the check-in staff her UK passport, for two reasons, she would normally need a UK Visa in her Thai passport, and currently only British, or Irish nationals are allowed to enter the UK due to Red Light Covid Restrictions. She will need to book and pay for a hotel quarantine before travel for her arrival in the UK, along with Covid tests before travel and following her arrival. On her return to Thailand she can enter on her Thai passport, even if it's expired. She will of course need to obtain the CoE to return to Thailand, and quarantine on arrival.
  6. It could be done if you set your mind to and you really need to get back to start your degree course, and for the record I'm not coming down on anybody, unlike yourself, I'm saying there are options, if you look hard enough.
  7. "Traveller says she will stay on in holiday hotspot because quarantine will ‘bankrupt’ her and sorting flight before Monday deadline is ‘almost impossible’ KLM flight leaving tonight at 23.15, has availability and will get you back in time, just got to get yourselves to BKK and pay 30,000 Baht each.
  8. Only if they have Resident Rights at the moment, so spouses and partners living in Thailand intending to visit wouldn’t be allowed to enter, I’m not sure those traveling to settle would be allowed, but I suspect not.
  9. Air Asia are scheduled to restart that route from the begining of October, whether to do or not is anyones guess.
  10. It's never happend for any other country, there were reports of people returning to the UK as soon as they set foot in Mexico following the last tranche of changes. Whilst I have every sympathy for those caught out by these changes, it's not as if we didn't see it coming. The UK Government received a lot of criticism when they delayed enforcing the restrictions on travellers from other countries, travellers from India was a good example.
  11. It seems like you would only be allowed to stay in Qatar if you are vaccinated with an approved vaccine. Are you both British Nationals, or have UK residence rights?
  12. It's worth noting that only British and Irish Nationals and those with residence rights will be allowed into the UK and, as already been stated, will be required to enter managed hotel quarantine at a cost of £2,285 plus £1,430 for each additional eligible adult or child over 11.
  13. We are considering that one, is this the same one? https://higatwickairporthotel.co.uk/offers/self-isolation-hotel-package/
  14. For the last year or so the UKVI have been dating the visa from the intended date of travel in the application though the maximum three months in advance rule still applies, it initially caught a few people out, I don't know if it's still policy.
  15. Nobody's mocking you, or anybody else, so your insults are unwarranted. Many people, like myself of a certain age and with serious health conditions, appreciate the need to travel distances to get vaccinated, and are prepared to do so, be it 200, 400 or even like the guy we were talking to today from Udon Thani, in excess of 800 Kms, and all credit to him, and I suspect many would do the same.
  16. Amazing! There were a number of Brits at the Vaccination Centre where my wife got her vaccine today, some of whom came from our neck of the woods, “out there in the provinces”.
