  1. Monday morning .... Anyone call them yet to ask what is going on ? I still can't log in. The log on screen is a little different than before too. Sure , open a new account , but then I loose my order history and reviews. Those are important to know where or what not to buy anymore.
  2. I wanted to do some shopping today (7/7 promotions) , but account closed ! Never had a return or complaint. I have no phone or other device than my PC. So making a new account is not possible because now you need an SMS code . I'm seriously p-ssed.
  3. ^ Gold might be tax free in thailand , but is the gain between purchase and sale taxable ? If that gain is not taxable , and I sell gold back in my home country and transfer it to Thailand , do I have to pay income tax on it because of the new income tax law ?
  4. Stepping from XP to W11 , I hated it , but like someone a year ago wrote here on the forum: You get used to it .... and he was right. I tried to get away from W11 last year . Linux mint and zorin OS , it s_cked , and those are among the best for trying linux and getting away from windows. I was glad to re-install W11. After a million distro's , linux just can't get it right , from new hardware support to software and work flow. If MS goes full AI and even more annoying , I'd install Mint but very reluctantly. For now I don't update W11 anymore. I don't like all the new things they are putting in. I just made 1 computer from 2 identical , 17 years old and put XP on it again. It works well and I need it to get into my old truecrypt volumes. I'm not putting linux on that one either.
  5. Weird : To start the inverter normally. The recommended solar panel voltage is 300V-400V, the maximum is not more than 500V. But : High efficiency pure sine wave inverter; Wide PV input range (90Vdc -500Vdc). And: The power of the inverter must be at least three times the rated power of the induction loading device. I don't know much about solar systems. So paralleling solar panels is not done ? You guys usually use 48 V Lithium as back up , so the inverter converts the higher DC voltage (panel in series), to 230 V ac to convert it down to 48 dc to charge the batteries ? What a waste. 98 % efficiency is doubtful too.
  6. ^ No I don't want batteries , they are expensive and I don't want my house in an unextinguishing Lithium fire . With no batteries , do inverters switch off when the solar panels can't deliver enough power ? Or is the output less than 230 V AC in that case which could be bad for the aircons. If I overdimension the solar panels too get enough power even when there are clouds , is it bad that they don't work at full capacity , like producing 5 kw when I only take 2 KW ? What if in Thai "winter" they are producing power but I don't need it (cool enough to not use the aircons). Do all solar panels already have a diode to protect them against current going back to them like when other panels produce more power and a higher voltage than a panel in the shade ? Do you trust those inverters enough to deliver power to expensive appliances like computers or tv's ?
  7. ^ Thanks. Wow , those are not cheap. Hybrid means with solar and batteries ? I should open another thread about this , but 2 x 12000 BTU (inverter) aircons on one 5KW inverter without batteries , possible ? Just to have "free" aircon during the day that I can leave on even when I'm not home.
  8. I would not buy such expensive things via lazada or shopee. Global house has a limited selection and expensive. (No , google is not my friend)
  9. Where do you buy these inverters like Growatt ?
  10. How long till this government will raize the VAT to 10 % ?
  11. So , tired of hearing "mai mee & mai dai" here in Thai shops , you turn to lazada where they do have it, now we have to pay tax on it. This after we bring in money from abroad to be taxed from this year on.
  12. ^ The Thai Garmin site is only in Thai. Even the translation by Edge browser is pretty much useless. I have more than enough money but I'm not paying 50-100 euro (what it costs in europe) for a garmin map. I don't live near bangkok. Long ago I had a little problem with the rubber battery compartment of my GPS12, and they were uncooperative and unfriendly and expensive. Later I went to Garmin in my country , and they gave me the rubber battery closer for free. I'll stick to the free maps in the links above.
  13. Thanks Russ McD, but I can manage it. I already downloaded a Thailand map from one of the links above. 316 MB. Next time I go to the city , I'll buy a microSD card , because I only have SD's. From what I've read , it is better to have it on a microSD than in the directory of the gps itself. A bit anxious about maybe malware in such downloads that could harm my new GPS. You can't see in those .img files.
  14. I don't know much about smartphones , but I doubt very much you can have 120 hours of ACTIVE gps tracking on one charge.
  15. I guess you didn't read my post. Garmin switched to Li batteries in handheld and the gpsmap67 goes 130 hours , more in expedition mode. No smart phone can do that. Screen is smaller than smartphone , but my gps doesn't spy on me and is more rugged than a phone. I had my Garmin 12 for 22 years before it died.
  16. Good link , Thanks. BBBike seems worth a try and some good comments below the how to article. Yes also good link , worth a try too. Thanks guys !
  17. I don't want a smartphone , that is why I bought the Garmin 67. Li-battery lasts 180 hours , no smartphone can do that. I also bought a new camera because I don't want a smartphone.
  18. I bought a Garmin GPSmap 67 in europe. Of course it had european maps. How do I get a more detailed map of Thailand without paying for the expensive Garmin one. Lazada has this :SD CARD GARMIN MAP Topographic Maps + OpenStreetMap Topographic maps and routes, Thai and international maps. | Lazada.co.th But I don't really trust that and it says : Thai TOPO MAP in Thai for devices that support Thai language only. I'd rather have an English language map of Thailand.
  19. A problem with buying an aircon is that you can never try it out in a store. They usually just have the plastic housing on display . I have an expensive on/off Daikin 24BTU and while it cools well , the lowest fan speed is still way too much noise. I absolutely hate it. Big aircon are much noisier than small ones. So oversizing is not always good.
  20. Yes , some EMF at home but not high voltage , high current switching like in an EV , very close to your body.
  21. If the batteries ignite , yes my sky will fall in. I don't use anything wireless. The switching power of the electronics inside an EV is not healthy too. Electrosmog. Electric Cars & EMF Radiation: Could Your Tesla Be Bad for You? | DefenderShield Why would an EV be more comfortable than a regular car ? Because of a screen with menus ? Not for me , thanks. Modern ICE cars can be silent too . The tyres make noise too and EV's are heavier.
  22. I rather drive an old non-smart car than a computer on 4 wheels. I love my dmax , not that dirty or smelly because I pass the car test every year. It is noisy but I don't hear it because my cd player is always on. It's a 4 door cab and with a small cushion for my back , it is comfortable enough. I have a closed garage , and feel pretty confident , I would sh-t my pants leaving a lithium battery car there. All my life I had not much luck with batteries. I don't see how it will be better with a battery powered car. BUT if I had solar panels on the house , I would considder an EV , but away from the house and only if the dmax was beyond repair.
  23. My Isuzu dmax from 2007 can get 1000- 1200 on 1 tank , depending on how I drive.
  24. Slightly off topic : Is there a bus from Mochit bus terminal straight to Suvarnabhumi airport ?
  25. I just let them build and inner wall with qcon , actually TPI blocks on the noisy and sunny side. Nice to have a 21 cm thick wall instead of the cheap 6,5 cm concrete + rendering. And it takes care of those ugly sticking out support pillars , you see everywhere , usually every 4 meters. TPI blocks were 29 B , the concrete ones 6 B, Can't tell if it is much better , the house is not finished yet. Weak point will be the single glass windows.
