  1. Took a test at the vet , and cat test positive for FPV and

    she has 3 kittens.

Anyone here in Thailand had the same misfortune ?

Looked it up on the internet and it doesn't look good !

Many other cats are in close contact with her , so they're

all going to get it or already have it and die.

Anyone had succesful treatment from the Thai who

seem to invent cures for everything ?

Vaccination when they already have it , is pointless .

The cat that tested positive and shows symptomes

is taking antibiotic , antivomit and something to strenghten

    her immune system.

I don't know how I am getting through the next month

with all of them suffering and dying.

The forwarder has to pay to get the goods released, they would be stupid to do so without having received the funds from the buyer.

They have your package as a hostage .

I ordered from RS electronics with free delivery , and paid the taxes when they delivered it at my door.

I don't remember which delivery service.

DHL send an email as follows:

    The amount is THB 4,058.17.

We will pay your import duty/tax to the authorities on your behalf to speed regulatory clearance. To avoid any delivery delay, please pay us this amount securely online now.

So absolutely no way to pay on delivery ?

Or at one of their centers like thai delivery services have ?

That is seriously f-ed up , like scuba and Heng said .

I was rather shocked this morning to find an email in my inbox from DHL to pay up 4,058.17 THB import duty (customs duty, customs service VAT & disbursement) for a pair of shoes that i ordered from the EU that cost 222 EUR. (Value 8,796.18 THB)

Do you have to pay this in advance to DHL's account or with creditcard , or cash on delivery at your door ?

Non delivery of the 222 Euro shoes would be painful , paying another 4000 THB in taxes in advance , and it gets lost , near unbearable.

Does the 222 euro include shipping ?

  5. So I tried opening a paypal account.
Not possible for thailand at this moment so for my euro country, but you need a phone to open a paypal account ?

Then I read that paypal takes 5 % when you send money from a bank to your PP account ?
You have to link your bankacc to it ( or credit card) , so a family member cannot send money to it from their bankacc ?
And you should allow PP to take money from your bankacc for costs ?
Can you pay with PP if there is not enough on your PP acc , so that PP acts as a sort of credit card ?

    What Jumbo wrote :
"don't use shared devices or  3rd party wifi networks like hotels, offices, friends houses."

    Hotel LAN ok ?

If something goes wrong and PP or credit card company knows you paid via a non supported OS , like w7 , will you be denied support like banks do ?

Maybe in some parts of Phrae .

There was a little rain and some distant thunder where I'm at, but 24 degr in the morning in April is something I haven't seen in 10 years , as far as I remember.

I understand what you are saying. Personally I don't know anybody who lives permanently in the USA.

And I ordered the parts on the Thai website from Mouser (i.e. I couldn't order it on their SG website). I am willing to pay reasonable duty and tax on the parts with I buy. What %#$# me off was that I was charged more duty and tax on imaginary shipping cost than on the parts. Mouser wouldn't do "free shipping" for orders over 1600B if the shipping would really cost 2500B. And that is what Thai customs imagined for the shipping cost. That is just crazy and unfair. But I know it doesn't make sense to argue with them about 1000B.

I didn't mean anyone permanently living in the US , but one of us expats taking a trip home.

If I was able to fly back home for a month or so , I wouldn't mind ordering from there and bring it back for someone here.

But VAT is 21 % there.

If they only charged you 6 % on the 2500 imaginaire shipping cost , that would be 150 B , still doable , but a total of 1000 B on 2500 is ridiculous.

I haven't tried the SG Mouser site , import cost on non existing shipping cost would be lower , maybe .

  8. Been to my local Advice store , with a larger selection of laptops than JIB.

On the Dell's there was a sticker about the premium warranty.

The lady at the shop said to call Dell when broken and they will come to fix it at my place within a week.

Logical . Thailand is a big country and next business day repair like back in my smaller country would be near impossible.

No Dell's for less than 20k. Cheap acer starting from 12k.

    Lots of Lenovo and Asus.

Went to JIB too and now they tell me repair onsite (at my place) is an extra for the HP's not in a week at their store like they told me last year.

What a big difference between Dell US and Dell.th .

So much more to choose from the US site , but you have to import it and buy it from bestbuy or amazone > that what the indian chat guy told me ...

Truth be told , not everything on the US site is available on euro sites.

May not have to pay VAT to the country of origin ir you are importing it to Thailand.

As a private person , not a company , that will be difficult to prove .

Mouser is in the US , so best to have it delivered there and then bring it over to Thailand.

Ultimately it is the Thai import tax/costs that frustrate a lot of us expats (and natives) , as read about it often here on the forum. The 6 % Thai VAT is no problem and I gladly pay for being ably to live here in their country.

I think I read there is no duty if the value is below 800THB. Then you have to pay for shipping but maybe the total is still cheaper - maybe.

Or buy a lot because the shipping probably doesn't get much more expensive because electronic parts are often light.

My bill was high because Thailand decided my imagined shipping cost is about 2500 THB. I guess you can ship a lot and the shipping won't get more expensive (I think...).

I think when I checked out from the shopping from Mouser they had a couple of couriers. I selected DHL because I had good experience with them before. Maybe other shipping companies are better in regard to duty. I don't know - but I like to learn.

I often buy electronic parts in Thailand from http://www.es.co.th/index.asp

They don't have a huge selection but it's not too bad.

Another interesting supplier might be this one. https://lcsc.com/

I didn't try them until now. They are together with https://easyeda.com/ which produce inexpensive PCBs.

Yes I buy at es.co.th too (5 times now) , they are great with good prices , easy website but limited selection . Friendly in Ban Moh store.

If it wasn't for the "rona , we could do a group buy at Mouser get it delivered to a like minded in a non sale tax US state and he (she) could bring it over and beat them at their own taxing game . Electronic parts are small and lightweight , so easy to bring to Thailand in your luggage.

I would/could do it but there's a 21 % vat in my country and prob some import fee.

And of course with the 'rona , no flying possible , so stranded here.

  11. 7 hours ago, OneMoreFarang said:

    Yes, Mouser.

The shipping was supposed to be free. But I was charged 10% duty plus 7% tax on imaginary 2,520 THB shipping cost...

And obviously also duty and tax on the parts which I bought. I understand that part.

Well , now we are warned . Thanks !!

I was waiting to order at Mouser after reading this last year :

    https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1188568-delays-in-customs-processing-through-dhl/#comments

But mouser seems to deliver by UPS.

    Free delivery above 1600B/50$.

My order as I stands now would be over 5.000 THB.

    I don't want to pay 60 % on that !

And because of corona , I can't go home every 2 years to buy it there.

BTW , looking at your order , are you by any chance Edgar77 on another forum ?

I have Chonburi plates on my car and travelled from Petchabun to Pua, Nan, last Monday. I was stopped at a Covid check on the 101 near Nan. No hassle at all and the process took about 5 minutes. Because there were major road works just before the check and it was raining my car had become filthy so on the way out of Nan travelling to Loei province I took another route through national parks thus avoiding the road works. Again I was stopped once for about 5 minutes but again very pleasant experience. You should be ok.

What was the process that took 5 minutes ?

    I thought the 101 was finished ?

Widening the road again ? How long are the workes , 1 km or more of dirt/rocky road ?

Is it doable when dry , and ok for ( my new) tyres ?
