  1. Some of the good old British comedies on TV. I am fed up with the American sitcoms on UBC.

Fresh air, walks on a cold windy beach. My family. Being able to walk on the footpath without danger of being run over by motorbikes or taxis. Driving my car knowing that there are no motorbikes driving on the wrong side of the road.

I love Thai food but once in a while fancy good old English food. Most of it can be bought in Bangkok supermarkets and there are many good English pubs.

    Otherwise nothing.

  2. I can accept to some degree the noise on the streets (dogs, motorbikes and fruit vans) but what annoys me most is the incredibly loud music in some restaurants. It's often impossible to have a normal conversation.

Also walking around Carrefours and Lotus can be a nightmare. They have so many young people using huge speakers to promote their products. Each one trying to outdo the other. I usually wear earplugs now whenever I go shopping.

A few months ago I was in England with my Thai wife and she even remarked how quiet it was in the supermarkets and on the streets.

Anyway despite all the complaints I still love Thailand.

  3. But what is the difference between the DSL Basic (590 baht); Advanced (1,000 baht) and Pro (3,600 baht).
Lower price = more users to share the connection.

Yes I can understand this but what sort of connection speeds are users getting with CS Loxinfo? Are the connections more stable than Trues? I have heard some real horror stories about slow speeds and disconnections from True.

I have always used CS Loxinfo for my dial up connection and have been satisfied.

Now I am interested in getting ADSL but don't know whether to go for TOT (we've just had a new TOT line installed), True os CS Loxinfo.

  4. Thanks Bluebear.

Tried that but still can't get in. I have written to Yahoo several times now and they claim nothing is wrong.

I've tried on 10 computers around Bangkok so now I'm going to send my password to my friend in England and see if he can access it. I can't imagine that'll help but I'm getting desperate.

  5. I haven't been able to access my email account for a week now. I just receive the message "Temporary problem accessing your mailbox".

I have filled in the report and sent to Yahoo about 4 times now but haven't heard a thing from them.

Does anyone else have problems with their email?

How many symbols letters are in your password.

I do not want to know your password.

    First try this.

I tried that too. It didn't help.

I can sign in and access the account such as the addresses, calender and notepad but not the mailbox.

  7. This has happened to both myself and some of my friends.

After getting into a taxi the driver proceeds to clean the air condition vents and sprays them with a "cleaning spray".

A few minutes later the passengers begin to feel sick and dizzy. I sensed something was wrong and told him to stop as I had to use an ATM to get money. I threw 50 baht at him and got out.

Apparently his window was open so he wasn't affected by the spray.

Anyone else know of similar events.

  8. Have any of you guys heard of Bluejacking?

have done it a couple of times..it is quite harmless, but a bit of a suprise to people who don t know what is going on.

most phones will automatically accept a vcard name or contact name, and because you can use about 256 characters in this you can create a message instead.

when I have done it a thai discos I have kept it to a short hello...this is a bluejack message, because I am sure it is easy to tell if I write too much and I am the only falang in the place.

the only problem is you cannot tell who you are sending the message to until they recieve it and you happen to see them look or hear the message tone on their phone.

    :o

added note: this is different from bluesnarfing

    :D

I have also tried bluejacking a couple of times. It is harmless and can be quite funny.

I saw a guy with a Nokia 6600 in a Japanese restaurant. I tried bluetooth connection and found him. Sent a message "enjoy your meal". This guy was grinning like a Cheshire cat looking for his mate who sent the message.
