If true then this is groundbreaking news, but nothing in the other newspaper.
Edit: I take my words back. I didn't see it in the paper edition but I did a Google search and found it.
It is also mentioned in several international papers.
I hope they are not making fools of themselves.

Does anyone have this?
I am interested in buying it as I want it to replace my laptop when doing presentations. I bought a Galaxy Note 8 hoping to do that but it seems that I cannot connect to a VGA projector. 99.9% of the places I visit use VGA connections to their projectors and not HDMI.
I went to Samsung today and the staff seemed to know nothing about it. I wanted a 32 Gb ram but was told that Samsung didn't make such a model. According to the Internet they do!
I also asked about connecting it to a projector via a VGA adapter..... No can do.
I also asked about a keyboard... No Samsung don't make a keyboard for this model. According to the Internet they do.
Does anyone know the best place to get advice on this?

It is correct that a vaccine prevents the disease and doesn't cure it.
If they really have found a cure, why wait until Thursday? About 100 people are dying each day of Ebola, so why not release details now.

Join the club. My school even had the documents (and they have been doing this for years for all their foreign employees). The bottom line is, I had to leave the country. Am in breach of my contract and after 3 days being AWOL my job will be toast. OTOH, by not doing their part, they should bear some responsibility.
Seems like a passive-aggressive way to f i r e someone on the sly.
Having worked >120 days, severance will be payable. But by forcing the foreign employee to abandon a job and leave the country, they might try not paying any of this, including time worked. Who knows?
They let me go to Immigration with just the WP. The very last day I was lawfully in Thailand.
No chance => I paid 3 days' overstay and now worry about not being let back in at the airport.
Tell me, are you sure they really, truly want you to keep working their? Action speaks louder than words.
Something tells me, they want you not to come back. It may not be the boss who doesn't like you...
Good luck!
Interesting.
I am in a similar situation. I have been employed by the same university for 15 years but now I am 60 they have to apply to the Ministry of Finance to continue my employment. The university offered me a 2 year contract and "forgot" to apply for the budget. It takes 2 months to get the approval from the ministry of Finance.
I managed to get a 30 day extension of my visa and WP and will probably get one more.
After that, it is any one's guess,
Severance??? From what I understand .. teachers are on one or two year contracts and have therefore no rights whatsoever to severance.

Actually, I feel as if I am in Europe 30 years ago regarding internet. I hardly bother to log on nowadays because of the speed and unavailability of many websites.
Webpages take 3 or 4 minutes to load.
More and more sites are blocked.
Yesterday, my Live score app stopped working using AIS. Switched to wifi... no problem.
I hate to think about it but when will Thai Visa be blocked?
-
Seems like the Daily Mail is off the banned list, don't need my VPN anymore to read
Still blocked for me. Using True cable.

thai people are selfish simple as that.
Sorry but so are farangs!!!!
Our ex neighbour would come home at 3 am and walk his dog back and forth in front of our gate causing our dogs and street dogs to bark This went on for 30 minutes every night. After that he and his girlfriend would jump in and out of the pool screaming and shouting.
I complained and was told that I was "unreasonable".
After about two years they moved out and we could sleep all night. We had forgotten was a pleasure that was.
This is Thailand.... get used to it.

It's not just that the connection is slow - but look at *where* it is slow
Please explain where. I don't understand all of that.
-
High speed and poor driving skills every single time. If i have a nutter in van driving like a lunatic, I tell them to slow down - very clearly, and they usually do it. If they speed up again, they get a reminder. I suggest more people do the same.
Done that too butmade myself very unpopular with the Thai passengers. They really have the "mai pen rai" attitude.
-
I would never take a van. Bus services are available at both Morchit and Ekamai bus stations.
That's no guarantee. I must admit they are safer than vans but only a few eeeks ago I saw the Ekamai - Chonburi bus crash into the pillars of the BTS at Bang Na.
Two or three times I have noticed the driver dosing off. Once we served right across the highway as he lost control.
I have to travel by private van once a week and I noticed the driver struggling to keep his eyes open for 2 weeks running. I complained and he was removed.
I am sure many of the drivers are moonlighting.

Just saw on Australian media that tourists are leaving Thailand in droves. Tourists are actually scarred
That's truly terrifying, what are they being scarred by? Too much sun, dreadful tattoos or having too good a time in Thailand so going home becomes difficult?
So many people have been scarred by Thailand for life- going back home to their home countries and dull suburban cities with their dreadfully intrusive laws, grey skies and unsmiling folk on the streets proves too much to bear for many, and they're compelled to return to the Land of Smiles.
You can check out but you can never leave Thailand.
Haha I know some people who own a little hotel in Bangkok (Thai /Indian) and they are "scared" of Australians. They say they are the worst customers and always make trouble.
I was sorry to hear that as I have quite a few Australian friends and they are ok.

I am searching for news of tourists leaving Thailand and can't find anything, but I did come up with this:
-
Just saw on Australian media that tourists are leaving Thailand in droves. Tourists are actually scarred
Do you have a source for this?
I really doubt it is true. I am sure most tourists don't even read the news when they are on holiday.

It is faster now. I just did a speed test to USA and 0.99 Mbps compared with 0.5 the other day.
Nowhere near the 16 Mbps I am paying for.

I wanted to edit my last post but True Internet is so slow I thought I'd do a PS.
I guess I am lucky I don't have to support my girl friend. We have a good division of expenses and never have problems over money. She earns 3 times what I earn

There's (or is it theirs??) a lot of bickering going on in this thread and it seems that some of you are earning more in one month (4 million) than I ever will do.
I work for a government university and get less paid out now than I did 15 years ago when I came here. It is no secret that the salary is 28,xxx bht per month. (I forget the exact figure). In Europe I was getting 400,000 baht a month, paying nearly 50% tax and had very high expenses. My life style was different. I spent all the money I earned on luxury items and the latest electronic gadgets.
Now all that has gone but I enjoy good food and a lot of traveling around Thailand. I don't save much (if any) money but I wouldn't go back to my old life style again. I am living (not married) with the same girl that brought me to Thailand and couldn't be happier.
My mother always taught me that "money isn't everything." (on the other hand she was loaded.)

I spoke to True today, CAT under ocean cable from Thailand to Hong Kong damaged by storms, expected to be fixed by 17th October!!!
So why is only True experiencing problems?
What a load of #$/^_^$@@^
-
I haven't tried True today but last night my speed test to a server in USA just froze.
I have noticed that there is absolutely nothing in the press about this. Usually there is an article if there are any serious problems with the Internet.
I asked some Thai colleagues about this and they claim they don't have problems with True. Maybe they just don't think about it.
-
I just called True (1686) and eventually got through to some kind of recorded message about the slow internet due to installation of ???? I couldn't make out what she said.
Anyway the message ended with the fact normal service will resume at 01.50 September 19. God knows how they know exactly what time it will be ok.
-
The problem definetly lies with True. It has nothing to do with the undersea cable break.
Last night I couldn't open any pages (or they took at least five minutes to open). Here at work no problem. AIS 3G no problem,
I wonder if it is to do with the surveillance system. I want to write more about my theories as I have a little inside knowledge of what is happening at True but I think it is too risky to mention.
Whatever the reason is I hope we can get some decent service soon. I wonder if there is a chance of a discount in Internet fees if the problem persists? We are paying for a service that is not being delivered.

It took ages just to open the log in page of Gmail so I decided to do a speed-test.
I am using True Ultra Speed on cable and it should be 16 Mbps. Surprise surprise it was 16.5 Mbps.
I changed the server to a US server and then the speed was 0.54 Mbps !!!
Something wrong out there? I haven't read anything.

Ok guys I forgot to mention one little detail. No it wasn't me. (I see nothing exciting about that).
If you notice I didn't use any personal pronouns. The "guy" filming was in fact a girl....a Tom.
When I talked about it at work, I got the same reactions as from the posters here..
When I later mentioned that it was a Tom, all the Thai staff changed their attitude and said that it was ok then. No harm done.
Strange mentallity.

What would you do?
Today, as I got off the boat on Klong Saen Saeb there was a young girl wearing a short skirt in front of me.
She had to step over another person's knee to pass them.
The other person had a mobile telephone resting on their knee and it fell off and at the same time it turned over so I could see that the camera was turned on and had been filming up the girl's skirt.
The person filming was clearly embarassed but I didn't say anything.
What would you have done?

I am curious with all the clean up being done, thanks to the new govt. where is our dear friend, Voyaruth Yoovidhya? what happened to this story?
As we all enjoy transprency and clean up, shouldn't this be included?
Let me know,
P
There was a small article in the Bangkok Post the other day stating that most charges have been dropped. I guess from the report that he is back in Thailand.
