  1. The government has enough money. They just can't access it because the government is in "caretaker" mode due to the elections.

So, basically ..the farmers are not being paid thanks to Suthep.

    What a load of rubbish.

The money should have been paid four months ago. Long before Suthep started all this.

  2. Here we go again:

RT @fratticcioli: RT @PravitR: #Suthep vow 2 shutdown all air traffic in #Thailand by taking over #AeroThai which control air signal tomorrow.

He's the loose cannon, but does he have anyone left?

Shutting down air traffic control does not only affect Thai airports but also airplanes flying over Thai airspace. How will he explain if he causes two jets to collide in mid-air? Yingluck's fault if an airplane from Australia to Japan crashes?

That would never happen. If there is the slightest danger of shutting down air control then airlines would immediately change their routes.

  3. Someone just asked me an interesting question that I am sure some of the "experts" out there can answer.

This is a caretaker government with very limited powers (especially in financial matters) so does it have authority to pose a state of emergency?

I'm not convinced it can authorise the purchase of a pencil

I read in the other paper that EC secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong says that a caretaker cabinet amongst other things cannot approve any work or project which may affect an election.

This was said and written before the SOE

  4. strange that the BBC has had very little coverage so far of the action although they and other UK newsites are covering the Ukraine trouble all the time

Ukraine and the supposed majority wanting to join the European Community rather than the Russian Federation is highly newsworthy to the BBC which happens to be in........ Europe.

It's called "World Service" for a reason you know...

It came as news flash on BBC world..TV and mobile

Yes, I had a notification from BBC News on my mobile within minutes of reading about the SOE on Twitter.

BBC has also reported every time there has been an incident.

  5. The wife is an ardent supporter of the anti-gov protesters. Her time home from the office is spent on Bluesky and Facebook with one or two times a week attending the protests. This is to be expected as she hails from the south however, I do feel some what neglected as our routine has been disrupted. I know it is important to her and what she believes in as a fight for her country. She used to ask me to go with her in the beginning, a couple of months ago that is, but I told her it wasn't my fight. We talked about reasons I shouldn't participate and now in light of the potential violence, she is glad I stay at home while she goes out to fight for what she believes in. I am proud she is doing something for what she believes in. We may or may not agree on the correct course of action to move Thailand forward when we are having discussions, but then that is one of the things I really love about her, the ability to agree to disagree on various topics. That is one way we keep our relationship healthy, by supporting each other in our various struggles, and not trying to control the each other.

Pretty similar to our relationship. Usually no problems.

Maybe just yesterday she was stressed out. Today she came home, changed into "Shutdown Bangkok" uniform, gave me a big kiss and said "I'll be back latest 8.30"

I support her morally but I wouldn't go with her to the protests.

As for "paying her way out " if I get arrested .... of course, that's corruption and she knows it.

  6. The first mistake was getting involved with this woman 15 years ago! Some of the men here in this country are so vaginized! Actually worldwide. Be a man and tell her the way it is. Grow some balls! Then show her the exit and let the rest of your life be stress free. AMP her. Make her Another Man's Problem.

Did you read the part about where the lady is the breadwinner?

I didn't say she was the breadwinner. I just said she earns a lot more than me. I pay for most things and we have no problems with that. I left a very good job in Europe to be with her and money is no problem.

  7. i think its going to get worse be4 it calms down. my evidence-notice how they are using tires as barricades.

im even thinking of fleeing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all i do is stay in my hotel now anyway. las vegas seems a bit safer for the time being.

Yes, I agree with you that it's going to get worse ..... much worse. (although TIT and maybe tomorrow all parties will be kissing each other).

I won't flee the country though. This is my home now. I have no ties (apart from grown up kids) in Europe.

  8. I told her it is very dangerous, and if she goes there she will be making me unnecessarily worried for her safety. I told her if she still decides to go, she obviously doesn't care about me and I will dump her. Don't think she is happy but it worked!

Tried that. Her whole family go there, so there is no way she wouldn't. I let her go but tell her to leave before 9 pm.

As I mentioned she "is willing to die for Thailand". I haven't said how old she is but she was in the demos when many students died years ago (sorry I forget how long)

  9. My wife supports the eviction of the current "Government"

She is not a "loony" but recognises that the present corrupt regime cannot be allowed to continue. or be re-elected on the basis of yet more corrupt "populist" policy.

I support her in her belief but she would not ask that I join a "demo" because she says " this is a Thai issue which only Thais can resolve"

That's the sort of answer I am looking for and will show her.

I support her 100% in her beliefs but refuse to join the demo.

  10. If she knows you could get deported and she still wants you to risk it,,, then... oh dear oh dear.

She believes that if anything happens she can pay her way out. She earns far more than I do.

you painting the picture of a lunatic. it seems she dont value you at all.

I anm sure she values me. Lunatic.... well maybe at the moment. Hopefully, It will die down.

There's a lot of advice here but is anyone in a similar situation?

I have seen photos of farang wearing "full uniform" at the demos.

  11. Grab hold of the image showing the statement that foreigners taking part in the protest may be subject to deportation. get hold of the story of the red supporter that go deported/jailed (??) for taking part in the red demo.

tell her you support her and agree with her position, but that your desire to be here and take care of her is your greatest concern, and if you were deported, you would not be able to do that.....

Yes, I have been searching for this.

Actually I went to the "big" demo last week but I don't want to go every day.

I work near Asoke and sala Daeng so I have to walk through these two sites quite often and I find the atmorsphere pleasant. Almost like a weekend market or pop concert but to actually take part in the demos is another thing.

  12. My wife is a fanatic anti-government supporter (she is also one of the so-called "hi so" girls) and often goes to the rallies in the evenings after work. I don't join her as I think it's a Thai thing and at the same time I don't want to be deported (I don't really think that would happen but who knows?). I must admit that I agree with her and feel that the present government should quit and make way for a national reform (but leave that out of this discussion).

Today, after the Victory Monument bombings she is even more determined to go amd protest every evening and today she said I should join her.

I told her that I didn't want to because of the above reasons. Her reply was that I don't like Thailand and am not willing to fight for freedom so I should go back to my own country.

We have had 15 years of happiness and this is the first really serious argument we have had in that time.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

  13. There are so many possibilities. It's really up to you.

I had a Toshiba for many years and was really pleased with that.

Later changed to an Acer. Was also very pleased.

Now I have a Dell (also perfect).

I have simply gone for the best deals for the specs. that I had.

Edit: Oh, as for service I only needed Acer and the service was excellent.

  14. Thailand's educational spending highest in the world

I would therefore conclude that Thai's are the smartest people in the world.

    A. Either the numbers are wrong

    B. The money never gets spent

Look at the cars some Deans are driving, look at their offices, equipped with very expensive sumptuous furniture, then you know, where the money is being spent. See how farang teachers are being treated, they are being kicked out with no reasons given, and replaced by Chinese teachers, who are being lured into the country with the promise to earn 25KTHB, but end up being paid only 15 to 18KTHB/month. Some teachers found out, that even their social security expenditures have not being paid. The whole system is ruled by the greed of those, who have access to the money given by the state and/or parents.

They also spend a lot of money on so called "educational tours" for the Thai teachers, which are in fact all expense paid holidays to all parts of the world, providing they spend a couple of hours at some university lecture.

  15. I've often seen the police stopping motorbikes on Thong Lor.

Last time, about a month ago, they were stopping the motorbikes outside H1 nightclub. I was walking towards Klong San saeb and as I passed the car park taht H1 use I looked in and saw a cop standing behind a young boy and his arm was wrapped around the boys waist and his hand was rubbing the boy's DXXX. The other cops were standing around laighing and when they saw me looking they waived me on quickly.

I have often wondered what I would do if I were stopped and asked to pee in a bottle. I feel like doing the same as some woman I read about when she was accused of shoplifting in a supermarket (I think New Zealand... not sure). Anyway she refused a body search and calmly took off ALL her clothes to prove she didn't steal anything.

I feel like just dropping my trousers and peeing in the bottle right on the street. Not sure if that's what I would do but it's something I have thought about.

  16. I think people are missing the point. The constitution say you must have an election in 60 days.

Do you suspend the constitution. Remember Suthep does not want an election, no matter

how long you suspend it for. He wants to be appointed supreme leader. This guy is right, whats

the point. Move forward the quicker the better, the army will step in or is won't. Suthep has laid

his cards on the table. He is all in , the democrats have elected not to contest the election and

Suthep will lead the marches. If the military steps in and puts Suthep in power creating a military backed

dictatorship we will see how long it takes for the Red shirts to respond to restore democracy in

Thailand. It might take years. One thing is for sure Suthep's last stint in power did not curb corruption one bit.

Zero, zilch , nada. He is as corrupt as Thaksin, just not as good at it. His campaigning slogans

sound great, but underneath that sizzle is a big turd.

Suthep has insisted all along that he isn't interested in being a leader.
