  1. Battery locamotives have been used in the UK since 1905, although they were used for hauling engineers' trains on the London underground, rather than passenger services. I remember seeing them in use on the old Alexandra Palace to Finsbury Park route when it was still open, transferring train stock between lines.
  2. Wonder if they'll make him do the obligatory crime re-enactment, complete with plastic bag and someone playing the part of the victim? Somehow, I don't think so.
  3. Thairath reported some more on the story. Pol Col Thitisan Utthanapho was interviewed by police in front of the press via microphone at 20.30 Thai time, 26/08/21. He admitted his guilt but said he was just trying to get results in a drug investigation and made a mistake and accidently killed him. He said it's not true he tried to extort 2 million baht from the deceased, as had been reported in the news. He decided to give himself up when he saw his subordinates being arrested on the news and felt sorry for them. The media speculation had left him feeling so stressed he'd considered suicide. He apologised for damaging the reputation of the police and said he just fled due to being frightened and to gather his wits.
  4. Hes been caught? Do you have a link for that please? Yes, it was on the Thai news a few hours ago. He had fled to Myawaddy in Burma but gave himself up and is currently in a 'safe house' with police. He was quoted as saying he found the media scrutiny and pressure of the hunt too much so gave himself up.
  5. Video, of police searching his house in Ram Intra district BKK, with his swimming pool and cars on display.
  6. Looking on Google, apparently there's no treatment for the disease other than treating it symptomatically. The course of the disease varies, some get lots of nodules, some less. Some animals go on to recover, some don't. Those that do, get lifelong immunity. There are some vaccines that have been used with some success. It's spread by insects.
  7. It does if you want to look up words in a Thai dictionary.
  8. Can't help but think the whole chaotic withdrawl was stage managed & allowed to happen in this manner to create a pretext for more immigration into Europe in line with the current Globalist agenda.
  9. This meme was doing the rounds recently. Sorry, hope it's allowed :
  10. I recently needed to do this on a Windows system with some discs. Copied the DVD/CD to .iso using DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn, then used WinCDEmu to create a virtual drive and mount the .iso and install the software. Rather than buy a DVD drive, you could see if an internet cafe machine has one and create the .iso there on your USB stick.
  11. Hi 2long, Just out of interest, what section of the river was it?
  12. They had some more details in yesterday's Khaosod news. The car driver, 36 year-old Setawud Phadeeun, confessed to the incident and said he will pay for all damages. As I understood it from the article, Setawud claimed it was sparked by the 49 year-old Grab driver getting in his way and cutting him up with her vehicle. He was also stressed about his electrical sales business and was just on the way to collect 30K Baht owed to him from a client. At one point the Grab driver started rebuking him, causing him to lose it, get out the car and hit her on the head with his gun before fleeing the scene. He claimed it was an air gun (BB gun). Setawud said he initially didn't realise it was a woman and thought it was a man. She required 12 stitches for her head injury. There's a small clip of him at the police station (shirt on this time), where for some reason he bought along his baby daughter.
  13. Can reply: 1) How much do you earn? or 2) Just tell them you are part of the experiment's Control group.
  14. Is it different prices for the same product on the same link? I was reading an article about that a couple of days ago. Apparently big companies website's can detect the computer you're using and charge you more if they think you're rich. "Unscrupulous firms that gather large quantities of customer data, including information that helps them estimate someone’s wealth by detecting the computer they are using, are also likely to face a clampdown. James Daley, managing director of consumer group Fairer Finance, said: ‘It is totally unacceptable to penalise people based on the type of computer they’re using. It is a way to use data to exploit consumers just because they’ve had the money to buy a more expensive computer – but they could have been gifted it and be of moderate means.’ " https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9798689/New-rules-stop-online-retailers-charging-Apple-owners-higher-prices.html
  15. The Daily News is reporting today that the arrested man, 27 year-old Thirawat Thothip, was at one time a Muay Thai boxer known as 'Banglee' who fought at various venues before he got into drugs. He is also the son of a former famous local kamnan (village chief).
  16. Err, think you mustn't have fully read my earlier post, in which I posted: "While I can work out the syllable tones with reasonable accuracy, I want to be 100% correct." What makes you think the Thai tone rules aren't correct? There are a some irregular words like ตำรวจ but they are few and far between. As KeeTua said, you should be getting away from transliteration and using Thai script.
  17. Er..that sounds like a faff-around. Why not just use the Thai tone rules? With them you can work out the tone of any Thai word from its spelling.
  18. CCTV footage of her captured on route to the waterfall from today's mgronline.com :
  19. Feel the same about watching football live vs watching it at home on TV - would much rather watch it at home. Watching it live invariably involves the schlep down to the ground and back, uncomfortable seats, poor views, chance of an altercation from opposing fans etc. Much better off in the comforts of your own home with drinks and food freely on tap.
