  1. althought big wing honda in Chiang Mai had the 700cc integra scooter looking thing on its show room floor

Hmmm.. Is there a cut off for the size of bikes sold by Big Wing? At what point do bikes and or scooters become BIG. Or is it a local vs. imported split?

Everything larger than the cbr250 seems to be only available from big wing

although ,if theyre not selling enough they may allow the scooter dealers to sell them

This new 300cc Scooter is supposed to be sold from the same dealers, where you also buy Klick, PCX and CBR150/250.

  2. [ quote ] Sym importer M-bike are selling the 300i for 150000 baht at the moment. Because it's over 250cc and produced outside of Thailand in Taiwan it is hit with a high duty. The price is more to do with the Thai government than Sym and would be much lower without the extra duty levied on it and it's 400i sibling. I believe the Forza 300 is manufactured in Japan so probably won't be as cheap as we'd hope for. It does look classy though, especially in silver, and I like the custom look of the chopped screen and fat tyres. I still think the maxi scoots don't have much in common with scooters, they are more in a two wheeler class of their own - the feet forwards machines. With all day comfort and great fuel economy I think they should attract attention from a wide variety of riders smile.png

If the Honda 300cc scooter is manufactured in Thailand, it should definitely not cost over THB 150.000 which is the price of SYM 300i. If the Honda 300cc scooter is imported from Japan, the price will easily hit THB 200.000 or above and then it is not value for money, compared to the PCX 150. I would love to have a more comfortable bike to ride than the PCX though.

  3. well if this accurate there will be a pcx 150 for sale, and yes of course there will be bigger tyres if not, its cheap enough to buy quality bigger tyres, as i have done for the PCX 150.

The 2013 Forza has a 13" wheel in the back and a 14" wheel in the front according to this website. A trunk for 2 helmets sounds really nice.

What kind of quality bigger tyres did you buy for your PCX 150? I am currently looking for new quality tyres for mine.

  4. Last 2 posts a bit odd, maybe in your area ? around where I live 1st on the shelves/fringe was Pepsi Max cans, then came the 1.45 bottles.. oddly the 'new' 1.45 bottles are the same price as the out going 1.25 bottles

Not far from my Village the local 7/11 has Pepsi Max, both in cans and 1.45 bottles, as has the next one 3 km away

Edit: Yes they also have that est stuff, Thais are buying it, but notice it is always on Promotion....... local 7/11 is 16 baht per 1 lt bottle, price stamped on label is 20 baht.. or buy 2 get 1 Free..

Must be due to a distribution problem in Srinakarin area then. The last week I have visited Foodland, Tesco Lotus, Makro, Max Valu, Tops, 7/11 and as late as yesterday Villa Market. Non of these had any Pepsi cans on the shelves. I will keep looking, as they must be available soon, if you have them in your area.

  5. Pepsi is back in the supermarkets, including Pepsi Max which I will buying for my Christmas. I will not buy into a product which, in my opinion, is stealing the market (like they managed to get together the new product/marketing/chain in the time between the deal collapsing and the product hitting the market....that marketing is just a LITTLE familiar. To me it looks like the collapsed the deal intentionally to get the run on their former business partner.) and tastes like somebody has tipped an ashtray in Pepsi.

The convenience store market has been sown up by Thai Bev for now, but this will change again as 7/11 determine that they are missing out on business to Tesco Lotus, etc by not having the option. 3-6 months for a return to the shelves across the board. Bear in mind that Chang's insertion did not have to fight with a serious international heavyweight with HUGE budgets at their disposal. Should be interesting.

Here in Bangkok east (Srinakarin), still no sign of Pepsi Max and no sign of canned Pepsi products at all.

I only drink one Pepsi Max can a day, so the 1,5 liter bottles are not for me, as I need the fizzyness of a fresk opened Pepsi Max can. I also prefer the taste of canned Pepsi over plastic bottled Pepsi so much, that I would not even consider to buy Pepsi in plastic bottles.

Until canned Pepsi Max is back on the shelves, I will continue to drink canned Coke Zero instead, as in my opinion this is the best substitute for canned Pepsi Max.

For the new EST cola, I have bought one for tasting weeks ago, but can not even get myself to open it, due to the cowardly strategy of Serm Suk (suck).

  6. Best and cheapest motorbike rental in Ao Nang is the large one located in south Ao Nang, where the beach road turns 90 degrees to the left about 100 meters up the hill on the left hand side. The motorbike rental on the beach Road itself (Noi) has become too expensive these days. No insurance for rental motorbikes available anywhere in Thailand, so lock the bike properly and park in a safe place. You pay any costs for repair and THB 50.000 only if the bike is stolen and not found. The Krabi area is beautiful and quite safe to drive around.

If you rent a bike in the rental shop, they will ask you to keep your original passport. Try to negotiate this to be a drivers license or a copy of the passport instead, or rent via the resort where they already have a copy of your credit card and passport.

Many of the small tour agencies in Ao Nang have houses for rent as well. Just take a look around after you have arrived.

  7. Just introduce a vehicle testing scheme, as in the UK, you have to have your car/motorbike tested annually (after the first 3 years have expired)

the criteria includes all mechanical & safety aspects of the car including electrics etc.. but most important is the exhaust test, if that falls below regulation figures you will not pass & get a certificate.. if you do not have the certificate to prove it is roadworthy it becomes illegal to be on the road, also you cannot tax or insure your car either as this certificate must be shown at the time of purchasing these documents.

You do not see mobile smoke machines on our roads anymore.

Having said that I'm convinced a lot of the air particles are from concrete buildings starting to erode, where I live there is about an inch of dust on everything especially at the sides of all roads, it's just swept into a heap by the side of the road each day by the road sweepers just to be dispersed again by the wind & passing traffic, everything is covered by dust so respiratory problems have always been high on the Thai illness

    ratings.

In Bangkok the BIB have the equipment and sometimes do the exhaust testing of buses and trucks at the side of the road. But somehow these cancer-smoking busses are still running on the streets every day. I wonder how much they are paying to the BIB, to be allowed to continue their severe pollution.

  8. Sorry but do not understand the question.

Are you asking about a Visa or a Re Entry Permit?

He has a non B visa but only paid for the single entry and really needs a multi entry, we could change it after he arrives but would have to do it at Samut Prakan and i'm no fan of that place.

Samut Prakan immigration is in my humble opinion one of the best immigration offices in Thailand. Always kind staff and very fast too.
