  1. "Would it not be better to put the PayPal on my Irish bank account which is where the money in my Thai account comes from anyway. So the currency only has to be changed once."

Not all sites in Asia will accept a Paypal account from abroad. I have a Paypal account in Europe, but strangely had to register a local Paypal account to pay for purchases here in Asia. Both my Paypal accounts are linked with my credit cards, but you could also deposit money in your Paypal account by bank transfer.

  2. Is this really going to work? You have convoys of pickups in Chiangmai and traffic is in gridlock and it is impossible to drive around the inner city area. If you have the police stopping and booking every single vehicle because they have a bucket of water in the back then traffic will go from a snails pace to a complete stop. What about all the people on the side of the road with thier large bins of water thowing it on the road or the firehoses spraying mega amounts of water from the stages?

If they really wanted to stamp this out they should have started an adverstising campaign 6 months ago outlining the intentions and not 14 days prior to the event.

If this does work all I can see is the reduction of all the pretty little things in wet T Shirts and that will be ashame. I came to Thailand for Songkran and all the dripping wet young ladies.smile.png

Last year, in Samut Prakan where I live, our local police prevented all Songkran pick-up trucks from entering local soi´s, as well as they asked all girls in white t-shirts (which will be see-through when wet) to go home and change clothes.

We had the best Songkran ever, without the usual pick-up trucks, loaded with drunken people from far away, who find it fun to block the traffic and party, in other peoples neighbourhoods, rather than in their own neighbourhoods.

  3. Hi Brian, what's the matt black 150 selling for? and what's included,,

82k including tax, registration, third person insurance, basic helmet and windbreaker.

I just saw the new matt black close up today. It looks like it has no paint and the matt black is the original color of the plastic panels. Can anyone confirm this?

If this is true, I assume that it will easily get scratched and the scratches could be impossible to polish away. But maybe I´m wrong?

I don't think so, the plastic underneath will not be matt black but more like black black.

I think the matt black looks fantastic too, would like my white pcx in same colors.

I wonder how much all the matt black panels would be and if they would give me anything for the white ones if I swapped?

I just spoke with my local Honda dealer in BKK today. I have just today changed the red panels on my PCX 150 to black for 1,100 Baht (include labor). They quoted me an additional 5,000 Baht for a full color change to matt black and a bit cheaper for the white, red or brown colors. I also kind of like the new metallic brown color.

I now kind of like my black PCX 150 from last year, now with black instead of red panels and a new black customized seat. So I will wait a little, before I make the final decision to change the color of the painted panels too. The matt black panels are thinner than the other colors, so I still think, that they are not painted. Could they perhaps have used a special kind of plastic for the matt black?

I bought the new seat from Noi in Soi Wat Dan Samrong (BKK). I told him my ideas about color, shape, material and asked him to make the seat a little higher, in order to be more comfortable. After 2 hours the customized seat was ready and I absolutely love my new seat, which looks fantastic and is much more comfortable than the original and the previous modified seats I have had. I now no longer need to change the schock absorbers, for a more comfortable ride. I paid only 1,200 Baht for the seat modification.

  5. Do not you realize this officers family wwill now starve on his regular salary

Don´t feel pity for this officers family. They may have to sell the new Benz, but easy come - easy go. Life goes on. They can still eat somtam and rice every day.

Or maybe they did not know anything about this extra income, if he used to spend it all, in karaoke bars and massage parlors on the way home from office.

  6. Only stupid or ignorant people are riding bicycles on the roads of Thailand. I own a bicycle here in Thailand, but I would NEVER even dream about riding it out on the open roads. But on my motorbike I feel safe, when I can follow the speed of traffic.

  7. Just offer the pensioners full pension benefits, when they stay abroad, and they will be happy to relocate here volountarily.

I am from Denmark, and sadly will have to return to an EU country, if I want to receive full pension benefits. In Thailand I can only receive around 1/3 of the full pension benefits. (Half pension, no free health insurance, no reduced prices for pensioners and no accomodation co-payment).
