  1. You would have thought, with his huge fan base, he'd have gone to an Internet Shop and let us all know.

If I were him, I'd be spending as much time as I could with my girlfriend.

    Carpe Diem

Who knows what tomorrow way bring.

    Patrick

The silence is deafening. Poor BS :o

    It certainly is!!! :D

Is that Poor B*S***D, Dr? :D

  2. Just to confirm that the UK does recognise dual nationality, and has no problems with it.

Just one of the many ways in which we are more civilised than our cousins across the pond! :D  :o  :D

Not only does the UK recognise dual nationality but when I registered my son's birth with the Britsh Consul BKK one of the supporting documents used was his Thai passport.

Also, when applying for my wife's Visitor Visa we were asked by the Interviewing Officer if the baby had a Thai passport and were asked to show him both the UK and Thai passports.

I am curious what happens at the age of 18 with Thai military conscription? Can you use the dual nationality as a means of avoiding the draft? :D

Maybe in 18 years the baby will need to use his Thai nationality to avoid conscription in the UK.....you never know :D

  3. 'Refused again' generates to date 9,347 viewings and 217 replies and the lady didn't even go for the interview!!!!!! let alone get refused.

This is the magic of Big Spuds, and TiT, he could learn a lot from the above scenario.

It's like a Thaivisa soap opera

It is a Thai Soap Opera :D

Mills and Boom will be looking for him :D errr.......whats the latest? :o

Nearly 4pm and no news from BS..........

You would have thought, with his huge fan base, he'd have gone to an Internet Shop and let us all know :D

I for one am very disappointed!!!! :D

  4. We live 40 kms outside Korat and desperately need a maid/nanny to help my wife!!

We have tried a few locals and they are either family (problematic :D ) or villagers who work whilst we are at home and then b*gger off to their own houses as soon as we go out :o .

If any of you know of any agencies in Korat please let me know.

    Thanks

  5. Spuds

I'm slightly religous so I am saying a little prayer for you and hope things fall into place regarding your situation.

Also, try and have a good time aswell while you are in LOS.

    Best regards

    Clive sorts

    He needs something Clive :D

    Amen to that

As for the soap opera sounds to me like "Home and Away" :D:o

  6. Dr PP asked.....

The question is will he believe her again ?

Probably he will.........he seems to still have faith in her!!! :D

isnt the embassy closed for songkraan ????

    :D

The Embassy is closed 13th-15th April.

So BS has 2 days to sort his beloved's visa out. :o

If they want to interview her the dates showing, when I was there last Wednesday, were

    Visitor's Visa - 18th May

    Settlement Visa - 22nd June

I wish him luck!! He needs it!! :D

  7. Agree with taxexile. She sounds a good respectful girl. If you really care for her make the effort to get the 50000 baht sooner so you can make an honest woman out of her in her mother' eyes.

If you're thinking of finishing just because she doesn't stay with you all night it doesn't sound as if she is really the girl for you. Wish I could get rid of my wife at 1am every night. Sounds like the perfect relationship. :o

    Agree with you both.

50,000 baht really isn't a fortune! Find it and make her and her mum happy :D

It would be nice to be able to get rid of the wife at 1am from time to time. :D

  8. But I'm sure I read somewhere that spouses of Thais did not have to get a medical for their yearly extension.

Last year, my first extension, I was asked for a medical certificate and had to go and get one.

This year, the same immigration officer, looked at the medical certificate and told me it was not needed to extend a spouse visa.

Who knows next year :o TIT :D

  9. Nobody's English is that bad that they can't read a few posts, all of which correct his mistakes and then write them again. If you're going to troll do it convincingly.

    Anyone else agree white my?

    Could nit agray moor!

I 100% apologise henry if you are for real..........

But then the moon would be made of green cheese!!! :o

  10. British Embassy in Bangkok is definitely closed today - I spoke to the Consular section last Thursday afternoon and they specifically reminded me that they would be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. They reopen again tomorrow morning.

I drove past it today and it also looked fairly closed  :D

I went to get my son his passport last week and was given a collection date of 4th April. When I queried this as being more than the 5 working days stated, I was told we are CLOSED on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Sorry BS but I think you should start smelling some BS from your GF!!! :o

  12. Last night my wife wanted to sleep without the aircon as the baby has a cold.

We put the fans on and it was still quite warm so I opened the windows.

She then said, what sounded like, "take care of the garden".

A strange request for 11pm especially as I had watered it at dusk.

She kept repeating "take care of the garden", and gave me that very special you dumb farang look that Thai women seem to love.

Eventually she got up and opened the curtains and said see now I "take care of the garden"!!!!!

I nearly wet myself laughing :o

  13. I'm human,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that story brought tears to my eyes

    Me too...

Isn't it great when you read a nice story like this?

It restores my faith in humanity.

Hey Thaidancer... make sure you stay in touch with TV and let us all know when you're here. I for one would like to meet you and shake your hand.

    Great post. :o

Brought tears to my eyes too!!!

Congrats Thaidancer on facing up to your problem and against all odds sorting things out.

An inspiration to us all :D

My first trip was 1982 and boy was Pattaya different then :D

Many trips in between and 2002 met my wife and am now semi-retired here (Korat).

To add to my bliss our son was born 10th December last year and now my trips to the UK will be few and far between :D

  14. Have no idea as am not British.  Try this.
Please ring us on (02) 305 8333 for further information

You have the patience of a Saint Lopburi3!

Yes you can post the application and get it back by EMS, but you must make 100% sure you have the correct documentation.........details of which are on the Emabssy website.

  15. My wife and I asked about what is needed when she applies for her passport (with my last name) while we were getting my affirmation stamped at the ministry and the answer was 'just you id card, and you marriage certifivate will be needed.  Photos will be taken here and the passport fee is 1000 baht'

Today she phoned me (from the ministry) to tell me that she couldn't get her passport because they are now saying she has to get her id card changed first - which involves going all the way up to her home province of sukothai.

Is there any more convient way around this that anyone knows of?  And if not, others be warned that the id card must be done first (unless maybe you get the first woman we spoke to)

It is regulation in Thailand that any change of name be done so within 6 weeks.

so they are correct you only need a Thai ID card to apply for a passport,

providing you wish the passport to be in her maiden name,so she will have

to travel to home province to change to your surname.

    NB :D

If that is the regulation then my wife and I are extremely fortutnate, we went to tje Amphur Office more than a year after we were married and changed her ID Catd and Tabien Bahn. :o

She wanted to change before the birth of our son. :D

We are going to BKK at the beginning of March and intend to change the name in her passport then.

  16. I even updated my Avatar for the occasion...

Anyone want one T-Shirt size? :D)

(For the dyslexic among us, it says 'Farang rak Thai'. .. :D )

    Cheers,

    Chanchao

I was given a TRT jacket by our local MP, Amphur NoneThai. My brother in laws are all Chart Pattana local politicians, now swallowed up by TRT.

Wore it whilst out riding my motorbike early mornings during the recent cold spell, some other candidate complained of a falang riding around the countryside advertising for TRT!!

Outcome was the local police came and asked me to wear another jacket until after the election :D

So I wonder what thay would make of your T-shirts? :o ?

    I'd love one!!

    TIT :D

  17. Any thoughts on how much it will cost to hire a driver for the day with his own car? Any ideas on a good place to find a reliable driver?

I have a similar need when I visit the family sometime in late Spring. My usual mode has been to rent a vehicle at the Udon airport, but this is really only a good idea if I'm going to be travelling most every day. Sometimes I think for the price I pay for the rentals, I could just buy Khun Paw an old beater truck. Anyway, my wife says a friend of the family in our village drives people around to make baht. She thinks 1K BHT/day would be about right. The drawback is that often times the person bringing you places has a say in duration of stay. :o

I hire a minibus with good driver in Korat area for 1200/1400 Baht + fuel daily, price depends on how many days I need it for.

I also pay food for the driver and a place for him to sleep when we are on overnight trips.

I used to hire out of BKK and paid 1400/1800 + all the extras daily.

If you can get for 1K daily you have a bargain. :D

  18. is it still cold ? that depends on the comparison :

compared to europe it is f**king hot

compared to songkran it is f**king cold

    Where do you live Chico?

Because here near NoneThai 40kms from Korat compared to Songkran its f**king hot!!!!!!

could it be that your songkran-experience stems from london?

in isaan average songkran temp is 25 - 28 at night, 35 - 40 at day, all celsius! and not talking about humidity nearing 100! :D:D

My Songkran experience stems from Korat. Last night it was 24C here and now the temperature is 35C. :D:D

So that pretty much ties in with your Songkran temperatures!!! :o

Regardless of whether it is the same as Songkran or not, the temperatures have certainly soared upwards over the last week. :D

  19. is it still cold ? that depends on the comparison :

  20. I live 40 kms north of Korat and here it has warmed considerably.

Last week my family were sitting around fires saying how cold it was, I think they still showered as no-one ponged too much!!! :o

Now they are saying its as hot as it is at Songkran....so there you go. :D
