I hope so
I live about 40kms outside Korat and would like to meet other expats, other than the cursory hello when walking by eachother in the Mall.
I spend about 2/3rds of my time here and the other 1/3rd back in London.
If you can fill in the gaps about where the meetings are held please do so.
Dereklev: So you didn't like any of the suggested meeting places mentioned in your thread concerning "any go go bars in Korat" (back beginning of Dec 2004)?
Ken: between having guests, returning to London and other things like a new born son, no have not had time yet.
Will do so soon, like the sound of the Pasinee you mention in the Korat Bar & Grill thread. Maybe see you there one morning for a beer or two.
I would still like to know if anyone knows where the NE Thailand Expats meet

Put this on my search engine this afternoon, no joy, it has just vanished, when i signed up to it about 7 months ago there were only about 15 members, not much information then as i think it was just starting, but i know for definate they meet in a bar in Korat, i think the first Saturday of every month, there must be a member on this site from Korat who could get more info.

Forgive me if I am missing something....but why is a post from nearly a year ago for a site that cannot be accessed attracting so much interest today????
Because someone revived the thread and the rest of us didn't notice the date of the original post!
Well that answers part of my question, thank you
But I will ask again.......
If there is a NE Thailand Expats Association where is it based? When does it meet? How do you join?

I agree that George is the font of so much knowledge, however I am still confused
If there is an Issan expats association where is it based? When does it meet? How do you join?
Please advise.....

Cold as a witches tit as well.
Very cold just north of Korat too!!
No rain though.....
Our water supply will dry up this month....
Should we start a thread on DROUGHT?????
-
You are talking one of the poorest regions of Thailand and thinking US style home with swimming pool making it among the top 1% in the country and are only planning to stay for 3 months a year?
Have you never visited where you intend to build??
There is a drought in Isaan now. So from where do you fill this pool whilst your neighbours have no water!!
Build your swimming pool and enjoy the local cows and buffalos drinking whilst you swim.
Enjoy your time in LOS but surely your wife understands where she LIVED!!!

Thank you all for your replies both on and off topic.
Well my friends visited and we had no gogo bars to visit
Nonetheless a great time was had by all
A very happy new year to you all and I hope 2005/2548 is good for you all.

I met a large (huge in fact) geordie but he went by another name, Martin, he claimed to be ex Para and SAS so might be your "mate".
If he is a good friend of Chris Ryan why don't you send your contact details to him, at his publishers and ask them to pass them on.
If he is the lying b**tard I met you might find him in Pranburi, south of Hua Hin
Martin, Sounds like the martin i know, full of Bull, and planty of mouth, use to work in the Zenith Hotel, soi 3, Bangkok, a few years ago, ex sas do not normally tell you who they are.
Yes that's him. I knew he wasn't what he said but he still took a friend of mine for a ride!!!
Claims his wife is a bigshot in the police, when in fact she is an accounts clerk for the prison service.
So any of you who meet this lying toad beware and trat him as the snake he is!!!

No rain outside of Korat.
My wife tells me it is very cold and the children are dressed up ready to go skiing
I still wear shorts

What is the one common thing you think is used by all that knows no boundries?
In my opinion, it would have to be water.
Yes agree it would have to be RAIN......
-
Its been suggested that the hugly popular thread "Rain........" be closed, what do you think?
Now we have 2 rain threads..........
Soon will need an umbrella
-
27 pages of bullsh*t. The end is in sight. 30 pages is the limit. Enough already
Please good Dr spare this thread.
I assume you are not British or you would never have referred to rain as bullsh*t
By the by not raining in London or Korat
-
literaly something from nothing.
Brilliant..
Just like rain.....

That was a worthwhile post
Yes it was and so have 1000s of other posts been
I think if you can't get the info you want here then it isn't available
A very happy birthday to all of you who make TV possible
-
Also helps if you want to get rid of a persistant Bar lady...........Para-ya Kon Thai.....arggg......and they are OfF-ski big time.
That works for me too
-
Had it few times before, felt like my body was burning.
Thats what it felt like for me too!!!
And the next day my head was bursting
It also has the same consequence of Pernod, that next day when you drink water you get trashed again
-
For me its
1) Indian
2) Thai
3) My wife's cooking (a hybrid cross between Thai and Farang )
-
Its raining in London and cold as well.
2 nights ago we had a little snow but it didn't settle.......
Back home to Korat next week where it hasn't rained but my wife tells me its cold
One day she will find out what cold is
