  1. Well my take on it is, bearing in mind, I have no interest in the game using a round ball masquerading as football. It is soccer. To the topic.

It's my belief that the cable company's run by that guy who's up on a murder charge, which we've not heard too much about of late, pay nuttin' to nobody for what they hook onto by whatever means and put into the pipe. This is why you don't see any direct feed from the True sat signal. The gun is on the other foot for that one.

I personally believe they're pissing off the wrong people as it is basically a free to air public broadcast.

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Gotto go Moto G.P. just about to start. Not on cable but True. only way legally to to receive it in Thailand. Different grid to expected eh.

  2. The cover up begins.... how pathetic. The only way to clearly bring this to a conclusion is a foreign forensic expert examination of the body. I seriously doubt this will occur.....

This must also represent a bit of a dilemma for the Thai government.

Choice 1. A maniac is running around poisoning tourists

Choice 2. Thai restaurant food is so poorly cared for you eat it and then die the next day.

    Decisions decisions..

Talking to my wife who's Thai, says " no dilemma, the Thai Government couldnt care less "

which just about sums it up about this case and others .

In what is regarded as a real country the scene would be sealed off and guarded. The next of kin notified. A investigating forensics team, sent from the capital if necessary, would examine the scene in minute detail and remove the bodies to a secure location for autopsies. No press reports would be made until certain facts were known.

I would assume none of that has happened in this case. The poor parents probably got the news by reading their own newspaper at home in Montreal. My wife's right on this one not a care nor any compassion.

  3. Serious food poisoning?

I would like to be directed to a web page which describes the sort of food poisoning where symptoms include blue nails and bleeding gums.

We appear to be already heading for a cover-up. Let's hope the family can recover the bodies back to their home country and a competent autopsy, before the bodies are 'accidentally' cremated by the Thai authorities.

    Disgraceful Thailand.

Totally agree with all you say

Reading between the lines as we here are always forced to do to get even an idiom of the truth.. A cover up already seems to be well on the way.

Poor Girls, R.I.P. Condolences to family and friends.

  4. snamos

Mine might be a bit big for you mate haha. wink.png

Thanks for the offer, gone a bit sideways but not vertically. Shoes might work tho, # 46. They reckoned I was going to grow into my feet like a German Shepard but it never happened.

BTW what's this GT-I9100 thing your'e using, is it an updated version of those useless bomb detectors the Govt. paid millions for a few years ago. Looked a bit like a Shoe Phone with bunny ears but was basically an empty box with a credit card slot. Buy a card for dope, a card for smack, a card for explosives, I'm still pissin myself laughing about it right now. what a great con. To the totally ignorant and as I'm off to Sing, Saturday is it worth looking into. Can an idiot like myself use it as a normal phone, ie; to talk to people. PM me with any help you can give. Ta.

  5. Did any one take the hint I posted on another topic, for a one day visa excursion, cant remember on which one about a month ago but

I noted that there was a fare with Tiger Air + free city tour if you want or relax and watch a movie. I now refuse to use the mini buses and that's coming from the person who first commercialised the package visa run to Kawthong. F....something V Run... we called it but sold it on many years ago but I believe is still going in the old location. Drivers name was Pot, some might remember him. Your real typical friendly Thai, " Safe and Slow was His Motto ". Never an accident in all of 1,000,000 + km when he worked for us, but times have changed. His focus is to now run a larger bus from Patong solely for Vietnamese hotel workers and now only drives his kids to school. I hope my memoirs are of interest. Sorry I digress now back to the topic.

HKT dep 09.15 to Sing return 19. 00 on Sat 23 June, total 4,125 b + 400 b Visa Card fee ( Robbers ). smile.png About 100 baht dearer Sing over KL for 6 hrs, no brainer for around the same day and times. Stupid me, didn't book. On 6. 6. 2012 after recovering from a bout of alzheimer's, woke up said schitt before having time to have one, jumped on line to find same flights, same plane, same day now 3,500 B + the mandatory 400. Gr8 mate, clap2.gif Iv'e just saved 625 b through complete negligence on my part. Maybe a bit more as yesterday I was passing on the good news to a regular patron so dialled up the links again WoW !! 9,155 B + the 400 B.post-4641-1156693976.gif. Last year I flew HKT to BNE for less than that one way.The hard thing for me to figure out now is do I have 625 B or 5655b to spend on the blackjack table ?? Was anyone else subject to the same luck ???

Oh dear, just remembered will have to borrow some shoes and long pants, for those that know my dress style, any helpers ?

  6. I think if the OP was after opinions of Phi-Phi, he would of posted a line such as "what do you guys think of Phi Phi" or something like that anyway.

    But he didn't.

Skipper, cut the guy some slack, he wants to go party in Phi-Phi, I don't blame him, tons of hot young foreign chicks there, really. Raring to go too. Tell you what if you and I were 25 years younger we'd be right along with him.

OP, nice hotel with pool in walking distance is Phi Phi Cabana. BR, GOM

P.S. is that you in your avatar? The look on your face is like someone barfined your girl...........ha,ha

Yeah Mate. I did some how try to give some sort of an apology whilst maintaining my beliefs and certainly agree 25 or so years ago it was the place for a young'n to hang out. I was there, it was great. Patong weren't to bad a place then either. Both have changed IMHO for the worst. With today's breaking news it reinforces my point. Seems like there's probably going to be a few bargains around. Hope it's not the same place the OP is talking about.

By the way - I do object to the post saying that she was pretending to be an Australian - if she really WAS pretending, I am sure she would be charged with using a false passport - as she wasn't, I can only assume that she was legally using an Australian passport.

That was me also Australian by birth. It gets on my goat when I see the trash they're allowing to become " Australians". this was a natural reaction on my part. However I understand your objection. Unfortunately it was meant as a tongue in cheek way of expressing the possible fact that she was not born a native Australian but a British citizen using a legally issued Australian passport for whatever reason. Obviously she was not using a false passport, that would be a crime almost as bad as to which she has already confessed.

With respect I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding by you and other members of this forum.

'Native Australian' as in 'Aborigine' ?

The words I used " she was not born a native Australian" not " a native born in Australia." There is a difference to 'Aborigine' which refers to an indigenous Australian.

Don't wan't to get into a slinging match, there's enough around already but I think you know what was meant.

  8. I have know Larry since he first arrived years and years ago with his dad.

They started Phuket.com and back then to get email we all had phuket.com email address and he would log in and retrieve emails twice a day!!!

They are very well established in Phuket an as far as i l know he is not paid

He is one of the good guys here

I know you mean well PR but you are a little confused.

The family you mentioned consist of Neil Cunningham his wife Linda and his son Stuart. Yes very nice people indeed but no connection,to my knowledge, with the present Aust Honorary Consul.

Hey Snamos if according to advice you receive and you decide to give the whole show the flick over the back fence, please can I have the excavator. Always wanted one of those, is it a real Cat or a cheap Chinese copy, fun to operate in real life too. No interest in the helio, they freak me out.

Back at work yet without dropping by ?

Im back to work tomorrow....only a 4 week swing though. All the shit is cheap chinese copis...I might nick it off the cupboard and give it to you as a pressie...see if 'narak' notices hahahaha

Thankfully I don't have your problem and yeah that rotting fruit with the fruit flies gets me too. What's the use by date on the yoghurt, still good to go ? Be interesting to see if any of the stuff has pups in your absence. If all else fails you can always call up Mike and Frank from the Pickers they love that sorta stuff. Thanks for your kind offer on the Cat but if it was factory original and because of it's history thought maybe with constant watering it might grow into a full size working machine. 5555

    C ya.

  11. I have found some of the adapters i posted in the first post in the basement of Big C, all is good now. Thanks for the suggestions all. smile.png

Gr8 mate. For future reference was that Amorn shop ie; from the basement car park extreme RHS. Have washing machine parts and the like as well as an electronics service Dept ?

  12. [.........] i stupidly thought would be a good place to try and ask a question about Phi Phi ......

Mate. Not trying to ridicule your retort but to use your words above sums up what I was trying to convey and that was, I don't think this forum is the right place to get an honest answer to your question plain as that, and the other points of my post were possibly to explain the reason why.

[......] .i asked Is Phi Phi Viewpoint hotel overlooking Loh Dalum where Slinkys is?

My feelings only but chances of any member on this forum being able to give a real life 1st. hand description of the place, as it is now,on a scale of 1 to 10 would I guess be zero. Well they haven't exactly come out of the woodwork yet. I only remember it, that's if it's the same Viewpoint ( bungalows) as a backpackerer flop shop where you could by an ounce for 100 baht so you should be able to work out how long ago that was. The only pool was a mosquito infested foot bath out front.

[........] in the hope there are some people old or young on here with little bit of knowledge on Phi Phi.

Mate I guess there would be probably hundreds but not many would recommend it as a place for a holiday

[ ........] would like to get decent hotel right amoungst all the action and Phi Phi Viewpoint looks sweet to me smile.png

No prob. Bro, looks like you've made your own mind up anyways.

Not trying to pick a blue, just making what I feel are honest statements, and as I said b/4 and sincerely meant, happy travels.

  14. Well, that's a little strange that he is the CEO of The Chava Resort which is also, supposedly, The Australian Consulate on Phuket. smile.pngsmile.png

Anyway, I'll make some enquiries of my own.

Nothing at all strange about that. It's an honorary position. I would expect he has his own business. Much the same as the UK Honorary Consulate Martin Carpenter who has his own business. These Hon Consulates have a very small stipend.

    +1

Another is the Honorary Irish Consul Ms Helene Fallon Wood a tireless social worker as well who also runs the consulate from her what I'm led to believe her own Villa business.in Rawai

  15. To address the original topic, we have never been as busy, what low season.? It has been said that Phuket has 2 seasons, the LOW season and the NO season. The high season that is rumoured to exist is possibly like " when is it summer in London." Oh you mean what day was it. Apologies to the Poms, I digress.

Possible reason is that we are not involved directly with tourist numbers per se, but rather resident expats and their friends who come to visit. Russians also form a large part of our customer base. We are not affected by mass market tourism and being dependant on " sunshine look alike " tour buses pulling up and disgorging loads of ( hard to describe accurately without being banned ) .........hit-the-fan.gifpatrons, I mean spectators, gawkers, tire kickers, whatever handle you wish to give them, I think you know what I mean, with empty wallets.

Russians are quite often mentioned as undesirable tourists, maybe if they fit into the mass market as above but it has been our experience with the ones we meet, if you give them respect and the service they rightfully ask and pay for, they will be customers for life. Not the biggest tippers but better than the French. Say there's a new topic waiting to be unleashed. Someone please take up the cudgel and flog a beatdeadhorse.gif and vote who is the worst nationality.

No better not, could earn some posters a ' holiday.' for speaking the truth.

Been a big day, G'night all.

  16. Would have better for all for her to have entered on her Brit passport or better still not entered at all. Feel sorry for good guys like Larry Cunningham, who have enough on their plate helping people with real problems, Instead of being obligated, by being a real Aussie, and helping Bogan scum such as this. No help to the the police involved who are trying to solve real crimes either

Accusing 3 men of rape is not a small deal. Should have been given 15 months and let the word spread back home.

You are quite correct Larry is an absolutely wonderful ambassador for Australia, works tirelessly and this must have caused him immense embarrassment.

I would have pressed for compo for the accused men also...

Hmmm, he lost face, let's hope he recovers....lol...I'm being ironic of course....the job is to assist where possible and i am sure he did that to his full capacity, bloody low blow coming from one of his own... sad.png

This is not I feel a low blow from one of his own, if I can read between the lines it is from a Brit pretending to be a real Aussie, makes it even worse. Pretending to be a real Bogan and doing an excellent job. Makes the bar mat blonde haired bimbo look like an amateur. Larry is built of solid stuff, I don't think it will get to him throwing in the towel, just commenting he doesn't need shit like this.

  17. [........] what it would be beneath them or what? lol

Quite the contrary that's why I said true Aussie. Not talking about who or what's being bred or admitted down there lately. It's about no need of people who are straight, honest and don't intend to do wrong. In this case it could possibly be because it's a known fact that the the Brit embassy give zero help to their passport holders / citizens abroad, so better to travel as an imitation Aussie. Do you remember the case of the poor Brit incarcerated in Bangkok a while back until uncovered by an independent reporter. The only time they look after their own kind is when the likes of Aldhouse finally escape back home to free legals, good food and lodgings. All seemingly without any help from his embassy. He was probably smart enough not to ask !

  18. What the hell does the condition of her hotel room have to do with whether or not she was sexually assaulted on the way to the room?

Seems the Aussie g'ment needs to be issuing travel advisories to their citizens that Phuket is not a safe place for a single female to be out at night.

Apparently Phuket citizens have to be warned against Aussie tourists smile.png

Seems to me there'sno need to investigate anything. It appears to be a simple matter of some drunk lad trying to get some nookie from his lady and she didn't want to "do it" since he was drunk and then he trashed the room. Drunk young Aussies ...Case adjourned!....Next....

Seems you got it right the first time Sunshine except for a few minor points. I was only commenting on what we were told before.

Incomplete reporting and jumping the gun before the truth from Phuket Gazette as usual.

No.1 rule of tabloid journalism. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Seems though she was a Brit using an OZ passport and behaving like a true Bogan anyway. A true Aussie would never get a Brit passport.

  19. Quote [.......] "Although people close to Mr Shane have already positively identified the body as his, the only way we can release it without the relatives travelling to Thailand is by conducting DNA tests and comparing the results with samples provided by relatives,” Capt Jirasak Boonsang of the Patong Police told the Phuket Gazette.

If positive identification by more than one person who obviously know the deceased is not good enough but must have DNA, arouses my suspicions about the reason.

    What an exercise in futility the Phuket Gazette remains to be. A legend in their own minds. 500 internal server errors on a regular basis, wife still waiting of delivery of prize won many months ago in a " do you know Phuket competition ", which was about the only decent thing they had going, despite 3 unanswered emails. This weeks weird news over 2 months old. Etc; Etc;

Today I tried to post what I thought was a respectful, relevant and enquiring comment to this story and got another 500 'points'. Do I win a prize when I get 10,000? No luck there so I'll post it here.

    R.I.P Shane

Is this another attempt at extortion. No doubt all this transport, testing and morgue fees will come at a cost.

Will his family be asked for payment as was a good friends family for the 20,000 B overstay fee he had incurred, in addition to all other expenses, before releasing his ashes and personal effects for repatriation to his homeland.

  20. [ quote..] can any one else to claim to have a tuk tuk ride anywhere near this price, or do i win a prize??

maybe deflation is coming to the tuk tuk world

PS i gave him 50B note and he promptly pocketed the 10B tip without being offered it, but i still walked away a happy man

Possibly 'cause he lived in the same soi and was on his way home, any where lese 200+++ B.
