  1. Excellent. It will be fun to watch Trump squirm and to see his antics. My guess is the judge will have little patience for his juvenile behavior. Can we see it here? It would be great entertainment.
  2. Since they cannot attract much in the way of wealthy ex-pats due to a dozen good reasons why those with wealth choose other nations over Thailand, might as well hike the fees. That is a long standing Thai tradition. When demand is low, raise the prices. Just common sense, right?
  3. Frankly, I do not know how a family in the US can get by on $100k a year. Things are so expensive, the cost of living has skyrocketed, and this figure of 61% does not surprise me. I would have guessed it was closer to 70%. Low-wage earners are most likely to live paycheck to paycheck, with almost 8 in 10 consumers earning less than $50,000 a year unable to cover their future bills until their next paycheck arrives. This does appear to be the case. Consumer confidence is extremely low, despite what the MSM or pundits may say. And it will not get better anytime soon.
  4. Well, not only does Putin look weak, but we all realized he is not particularly intelligent either, and that his country is a broken down mess of a nation. Without it's oil and gas, it would be a rather unimpressive economy. Even with all those resources, the economy is small, considering the size of the country. Just behind South Korea. And half of all exports are oil and gas.
  5. First of all I would like to congratulate you on suppressing the will of the people. The way you guys stole that election was crafty, and we at the CCP really admire you for that. That guy Pita was a pesky young one, and he wanted reform. You cannot allow that. One thing you will learn is that the will of the people is never important. It is the will of the government. We know best. They don't. So, now that you have learned lesson #1, you are well on your way. Lesson #2. Never wear your power lightly, or gracefully. As you can see, we do not. It is all about business interests. They must always come first. The people should always be a secondary consideration. Keep them happy enough so they do not revolt. That is all you have to understand about them. And do not allow them to protest or show their lack of fealty. That is not good either. And lastly, keep a tight leash on the press and social media. OK, now that we are done with that, would you prefer the 1982 Lafite Rothschild, or the 1959 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti?
  6. No. Absolutely not. And I buy alot of stuff on Lazada. But, I have learned that you avoid them when it comes to most electronics and higher end items. It is all about service. Easier to deal with the big box dealers, who will be there when you need them. As an example I recently bought a wine cooler on Lazada, and after about 3 months it broke down. I tried contacting the seller, they told me that the 60-day warranty had expired and there was nothing that they could do for me. I asked could you at least refer me to a repair person that is capable of fixing the unit and accessing parts? No response, so I ended up contacting a local appliance guy who used a thermostat from an old unit to fix my unit and it worked perfect. Problem solved, but not through Lazada and not through the Lazada dealer. Last time. 5,000 baht is my limit with Lazada. A lifetime rule now.
  7. Look at me. I am the essence of raw power. I am mighty. I am the bigger guy. I am so tough. He afraid. Be very afraid.
  8. The same applies to all of politics, worldwide. It is all about dark money, evil players and twisted, corporate and military agendas. It is rarely about the people, as the latest election here demonstrates.
  9. I dislike this guy, and feel he failed miserably when it came to Covid, the vaccination drive, the choice of the lowest efficacy vaccine on the planet, the highly selective shutdowns, etc. I could go on. But, I think he is on the right side of history when it comes to cannabis. For once, he is right. Like Anutin, the war on drugs has failed, miserably.
  10. There are ways to deal with a bully, that don't require burial. And there are ways to deal with a murderer, who is not being pursued by effective law enforcement.
  11. As time goes on, we are getting a better and better understanding of just who this man is, how potentially dangerous he is, and what he would be capable of if given the power, and if he is not stopped by the judicial system and locked up for the rest of his life. Lock him up! ASAP.
  12. Agree. I hated Bush Jr. at the time he was president. Then came Trump. And Jr. seemed like a statesman, a patriot, and a dignified gentleman by comparison. I feel the same way about Thaksin. Loathed him at the time. Now, compared to Prayuth he seemed like a stable genius, a highly competent leader and a man who actually cared about the masses. Corrupt? They all are. At least he got stuff done. There is a reason why millions still love him, and very few support Cha Cha and his heinous army. What Cha Cha should be saying as a farewell is: We are very, very sorry. We are stubborn and obstinate men. We have been big bosses for a long time, and been surrounded by yes people. So, it very hard for us to be humble. But, we have seen the collapse in the export market. We have seen the utter demise of the tourism industry, that some blame us for. We have seen that millions are out of work, and we fear this economic meltdown will last many years. Did we cause that? Well, we admit we are at least partly responsible.
  13. Well, I would not go so far as to compare Thailand with Myanmar. The similarity is the willingness of the army to ignore the results of an election and completely and willfully ignore the wishes of the masses. As if they count for nothing. Why? Because the army leaders are drunk with power and because they can. It seems obvious by now, that the people allow it. I would have expected 5 million people out on the streets at this time, and I am shocked at the lack of anger and resistance. However, the army here has not shown themselves to be genocidal, like the psychopaths in Burma. Big difference. Thankfully. I do not think they could get away with that, for a number of reasons, and since there is little resistance, they have not been tested. For now.
  14. Totally agree with all of that. I am always looking for harmony, in a relationship. Nothing beats a quiet home, with an outstanding woman who is a great mate, a fun person to be around and always has your back. Some of us possess that great fortune in life. Some, like you say, don't or won't even look for it, or even consider it a possibility. Some are so broken, they don't even consider themselves worthy of a life like that. And some are so indoctrinated, they come here and don't know that is even the objective.
  15. If he had taken time to get to know her, he likely would have realized soon enough, she was not the woman he thought she was, and was not worthy of his devotion. The fact that they were continually arguing says it all. There are plenty of fish in the sea, as they say. Killing oneself over a failed relationship is beyond pathetic. Suicide is a spectacularly selfish act, and people just do not realize the effect it has on friends and family.
  16. Nattawut, like Pita appears to have some principals, unlike the rest of the PT. What they did was a shameful power grab. I suspect many of their supporters have also lost faith in them. They are a morally bankrupt party, it would appear. Nobody with a shred of decency joins a coalition with the army involved. Especially after the sabotage and oppression of the past 9 years.
  17. So, when are you guys going to get the airport up and running, with 30 flights a day? Air Asia has been interested in using Hua Hin as a regional hub, for years now, and all they have ever gotten is neanderthal style foot dragging from the officials here. Hua Hin Airport is one of the least utilized airports in Thailand, possibly even in the world. Shame on these guys. They can do so much better. Thailand desperately needs more regional airports, especially within a few hours of Bangkok. Anything to ease congestion, and save souls from the nightmare of getting in and out of Bangkok has to be a good thing for the nation and it's people. Shame. Shame. “We will begin by growing the flight base at Hua Hin Airport with a focus on international destinations, and domestic travel and our numbers will take time to grow. We will get started immediately working with the town and recruit local businesses to participate in our new programs, Open to the World and LIVE-LEARN-WORK-PLAY, in Hua Hin,” Laroche said. And so? When? How? Why not? Why is this taking so many years? What is really going on here? https://www.traveldailymedia.com/several-airlines-are-keen-to-fly-to-hua-hin-thailand/
  18. It certainly has the appearance as being part of a formulated and agreed to plan, in exchange for PT's capitulation and forming a partnership with the ongoing goons at the army. Expect him to be released soon. At least that is what I expect.
  19. I never said money cannot be helpful, in having a more fulfilling life. I consider fulfillment to be one of the primary elements required in order to be happy. But, happiness is simply too abstract and impossible to measure.
  20. It would appear they have lost alot of support, and nearly all the goodwill they once had, when they betrayed the voters and jumped into bed with their sworn enemy. That was a move that conveyed a high degree of moral depravity, and hunger for power. I for one hope they are not forgiven, for giving the dinosaurs additional years to lie, steal, fleece the nation and continue moving it backwards.
  21. Money does not, and cannot make anyone happy. It can provide a great way to address problems, it can afford an amazing lifestyle, and it is a wonderful thing to have. But, it does not make us happy, and the lack of it does not make us unhappy. Happiness (I like to refer to it as fulfillment, as happiness is so hard to define) is something else. I know alot of wealthy people who are quite miserable. I also know alot of people without much money at all, who seem very content. Happy? That is a very Disney type of word and description.
  22. It was entirely your choice to hang out with him. At any point, you could have excused yourself. Sometimes perceived obligations are just that. Would your business associate have been upset, if you explained that this guy had no grace, nor manners? Would it have been an issue if he did not understand why you left this blazing fool on his own? I was hanging out with a friend recently, who wanted to visit some go-go bars. My style is to pop in and pop out, and only stay if the gals are very hot. That was not his style, I quickly realized he wanted to burn alot of time and cash on ugly gals. After asking him if we could move on, and his refusal, I simply said goodby, left, and went out to find another spot. See ya. Have a good night and that was the end of that. We waste time, if we want to waste time. We hang out with people we do not like or relate to, if we do not say no, or if we think there is an obligation. Who makes those decisions, anyway?
  23. I like trains too. But, not the insipid network they currently have. A high speed train makes alot of sense. But, as you may or may not know, the 2nd phase from Korat to Nong Khai was recently approved. When will they start it, much less complete it? I estimate it will be completed by 2037. Do any of us have that kind of time to wait for it? I doubt I will still be doing much travel by the time that leg opens, and that is only one route. What about the rest of the country, and regional travel? Nah, I will stick with flying until they get their act together.
  24. Correct. Often I just tell people I am from Canada, to deflect all the question. I came out of Regina. Though there are an incredibly high number of ridiculously stupid politicians all over the world, these days. Just look at this region alone. Trump has single handedly re-defined what it means to be thoroughly ignorant.
  25. Am I the only one who is sick and tired of hearing about covid this, and covid that? Why can't people just leave it alone? It has been endemic for a long time, cases and fatality rates continue to drop, yet? Embrace science and common sense. We have been breathing in all kinds of bacterial and viral stuff, for millenia. I will not allow covid to turn me into a timid coward, afraid of people and disease. My immune system does all the work, and I do what I can to boost it and keep it strong. Finished wearing a mask a long time ago. Even in airports and on planes. Kudos to the foreign tourists for ignoring the tendency to continue wearing one. Show the locals what free thinking looks like. Defy the herd.
