  1. Yes! I had the great fortune of living in New York City for the entire 1980s and into the early '90s. It was a golden era in New York, the city was coming up from a terrible time in the 70s, and things were really vibrant and alive. Lived in huge lofts downtown, for $2000 a month! (They are now $15,000 and up, per month). Needless to say, when you brought a woman back to a space like that, you got a strong reaction. Always very positive! The nightlife was amazing, I was into the club scene back then, and of course I was much younger. The ratio of single available straight women to single available straight men was seven to one. It was absolutely ridiculous, like fishing for salmon in Scotland or Alaska. I had a lot of gay friends at the time and they would invite me these incredible loft parties (I guess I was the designated straight friend) where there were 200 people, and 130 were women. Maybe 70 guys, and typically only two straight men in the entire loft, and I was one of them! It was insane. Alot of the women were supermodel types, as they love their gay friends. They were totally open with me, would give me a bear hug and a kiss when meeting me, as they assumed I posed no threat! Ha! Needless to say those those kind of parties resulted in a very good time. Sometimes, I would have to prove to these women, that I was straight, as they could not believe a straight man would want to hang out with their gay friends! The fashion was horrible back then, and with the exception of Warhol, Basquiat, Mapplethorpe, Kiefer, and Richter, not much great artwork. But red and white Burgundy was cheap, and so were the other great wines of the world. Rents were low, properties were affordable, the standard of living was good, the politicians were less toxic, there was no social media, and the world felt like a better place. That was really a glorious era, and I look back on it with a lot of fondness.
  2. Another one of your ill informed posts. Your statement about most having severe mental problems, or being drunks, or broke retirees being the bulk of what is here, is beyond ignorant, based on little to nothing in the way of knowledge, or facts, and is nothing more than a hostile trope. I know several guys living here who are millionaires, several times over. I know many guys who have pensions well in excess of 100,000 baht a month. I would never refer to that as desperate, or broke. I know guys here who own alot of land, houses, condos, nice cars or trucks, and have many overseas investments. Many are family men, are very responsible, good citizens and good people, and many are total boy scouts. (removed)
  3. My woman tells me the trick is to avoid Koi Pla made with raw fish. She says many know that, and follow that rule. Any time raw fish is left to the elements, there is a danger. If it is kept refrigerated, the chances of sickness are much lower. Same applies to meat.
  4. And even the ones who are not mixed of European heritage, have some mix of other heritage. The fascinating thing about Thais, is that they are all of mixed ethnicity. Few know it, and few will admit it. But it is nearly 100%. Going back to the days of ancient Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, Thailand was a major trading nation. And people from all over the region came to trade, many of whom stayed. Producing the most astonishing women as a result. Indians, Sumatrans, Burmese, Cambodians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Turks, Persians, and more. With regard to the women, combine their mixed ethnicity, with their innate femininity, and the level of comfort they have in expressing that, it makes them very appealing. I see a Western woman sometimes, who is beautiful, but cold as ice, and more masculine than I am, and there is no appeal, whatsoever. I think this can be described as the ability to manifest the dignity within femininity. Thai women have this in spades.
  5. You want to eradicate the mafia? Start with Anutin. The chances of this guy being honest, are about as great as Musk developing a colony on Mars, in our lifetime.
  6. That is as bizarre as a preventative double mastectomy. Don't do an Angelina!
  7. I use mine all the time. Have a business debit card. Always works here. But everything is linked to a US address and bank.
  8. I forgot MBS. Made Trump look like a naive child. When a serial killer makes you look bad, time to resign.
  9. He is a terrible negotiator. Xi bested him, Kim kicked his butt. Putin humiliated him. The list goes on. He cannot negotiate his way out of a paper bag, to save his own life. Why did he refuse to show his tax returns? 2 reasons. 1. They would likely reveal bank fraud. 2. They would likely reveal a far lower net worth and income than he claims. More falsehood from the liar in chief.
  10. An eyewitness to the incident, Mr. Santi Poonnoi, told local media that he saw the foreigners splashing beer at a group of Thai women for no apparent reasons. Following this, the Thai women physically confronted one of the foreigners and slapped and pushed him, forcing the two men to run away to the middle of the road where they collapsed. It appears it was the Korean men, who threw beer at the Thai women. They were likely spurned or made fun of? Looks like they must have received the beatdown they deserved. You just walk away, you do not throw beer at a woman. That is a real lack of class.
  11. Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul. Huh? Are they serious? This incompetent is not only still around, but is now the holder of these two posts? Now we know for certain Thailand is doomed. He was such a failure at health minister, they promoted him? The irony of this army crony promising to root out corruption. I remember vividly when Cha Cha made that same promise 9 long years ago. He did no such thing. If anything, it only got worse. Such goons. Such liars. Such actors. Give him an acting award.
  12. Anyone has got to be better than the joke. At least with the other guys, you know where they stand. On the side of corruption. With the joke, he had alot of people convinced he was a straight cop, which we all know would be impossible for the top dog in a pyramid scheme.
  13. Your girlfriend has to do it. Not something you should get involved in. If she also wants him out, let her show the conviction, and get rid of the slug. And besides, he is 27. Well past the time when he should be carrying his weight in society. He sounds like a coddled man/child. Do whatever has to be done, including changing all the locks while he is out, and packing up his stuff and leaving it outside. Do not give him money to leave. That will only make him feel more entitled. Harmony in the home is essential for peaceful, pleasant living. Nothing worse than having someone living under your roof, who you do not like, nor respect.
  14. This is a man with no political experience, throwing stuff against the wall, and hoping something is going to stick, and someone is going to believe him. So far, he has shown the nation nothing. It will take alot to prove himself, considering the fact that his appointment was less than legitimate, and he was not elected by the people.
  15. One of the terrible things about a powerful mind, is that it is capable of coming up with 100 different ways of justifying any position. Including being cheap.
  16. This desperado will do anything to deflect blame, profess innocence, and avoid the prison sentence he so richly deserves. Unfortunately, he has the money to spend on frivolous motions, and efforts to subvert justice. Let us hope he ends up in prison. He has spent the last 45 years of his life earning that fate, with his tax evasion, bank fraud, and theft of billions of dollars from hard working, small contractors.
  17. That is the spirit. I know some guys who move here and start counting in baht, as of it were dollars! We are talking about small tips that really help the locals. And tipping keeps the heart open. Not tipping can make the heart grow very cold. Life is too short for that. I don't want to be remembered as the cheapskate.
  18. Are you living in the West? I know alot of very good men back there who treat their women well, and still get trampled upon.
  19. Absolutely spot on. Few in the West enjoy a good sex life for long! And most would lie on a survey like that to avoid humiliation and the revelation that their woman was not holding her end of the bargain. Here? It is certainly better, though I wonder what percent of married Thai women older than 45 are particularly active, sexually. I have a good friend who is with a Thai woman who will not give him sex at all. They've been together for 5 years or so and she just will not satisfy him on any level. So my question is - is it ethically proper to just go out and get it elsewhere? I think it is, I think that if the woman refuses to satisfy the man as long as he can do it in a discreet fashion, there's no harm in going out and seeking satisfaction elsewhere.
  20. Talk about good fiction. Talk about an alternate reality. Have they stood up to Burma? Have they stood up to Hun Sen, the serial killing, genocidal, land grabbing PM for life next door? What exactly did Don and Cha Cha accomplish on the world stage, other than set back Thailand a decade?
  21. Did they realistically think he would be treated like any other prisoner without wealth? Did they even realistically consider the possibility that a deal with the army was not struck before his return? Please. Let it rest. If you are going to protest about anything, stand up for truth and resist the corrupt selection of the PM.
  22. The PT also said under no circumstances would they jump into bed with the highly toxic army goons. Yet, what happened? Their credibility is zero now.
  23. Sorry, but I don't believe everything I read. For many, who live in smaller towns the total cost is 120 baht for two dishes. Plus 9 baht for delivery. Who pays the 40 baht the article speaks of. I think that is nonsense. If it hurts you to offer the delivery person a tip, or you want to give them more, so be it. I will continue to show them kindness and gratitude.
  24. No. I do associate with being an American. I have alot of ties back there, and enjoy frequent trips back there. And I am grateful for my American passport. But, no real sense of allegiance, and absolute no sense of patriotism, other than my hate for Russia and China. Not so much the people. But, certainly the governments. However, I hate the US govt. too. Come to think of it, I hate all governments. They all stink.
  25. Likely also a total lack of morale. If the army used to have some prestige associated with it, it is now gone, baby gone. They are a thoroughly toxic organization.
