  1. You again. You are relentless. It is quite obvious that I have things in my life that are considerably more important than dwelling on a flu type virus, that became endemic long ago. It is just not a concern. Already had it, and not the least bit concerned or afraid of getting it again. I am far more concerned about getting a normal flu, than a Covid flu. There you have it. I will NOT be wearing a mask ever again for covid, and I will NOT be getting any more vaccine shots. No need. Not for me anyway.
  2. Excellent news. Anytime a drunkard monk, or a corrupt monk is removed, it is a good thing. Now, it is time to go after the more senior drunk and curruot abotts.
  3. With the huge spread that Thai banks charge this likely means home loans at over 7%. This will likely mean a slowing down of the residential and condo market even more. Anyone looking to buy might want to wait a bit. Prices are likely to correct, even more.
  4. It is about men comfortable being men, and women comfortable being women. A very alien concept in the West, and in other very weak, emasculated nations like OZ, and NZ. It has nothing to do with the new age stuff you are totally hung up on. It is just a phrase I made up for fun. Nearly every friend I have in the US is single. Why? Because for a man in the US, who is past the age of 50, unless he is willing to get with a woman at least his age, his prospects are dim for finding love, or companionship. Some guys like me, simply prefer younger women. Not kids, but women who are 5, 10, 15, even 20 or 25 years younger than us. For a dozen very valid reasons. I could break them down, but why bother? The PC crew will jump on this and say it is not right. You should not be able to have this kind of life, without jumping over ridiculous hurdles! Means nothing to me. I do not do PC. Why be with a woman our age, if we do not need to? Nothing wrong with it, if it works for you. But It is virtually impossible for a 60 year old man in the US, to hook up with a 36 year old woman, unless she is very fat or very ugly, or he is a centi millionaire, or is famous. Period. It just does not happen in this day and age. Here it is possible. Granted he will likely get with a woman of lesser means, who needs a guy who can provide some financial stability. So what? Who cares? Most women want financial stability anywhere in the world, whether they admit it or not. The difference is here the women are more honest about their financial needs and desires. I know a lot of men who have engaged in relationships with lovely, kind, supportive, humorous, and sexy women here, who are no longer lonely. We have very good lives. Fulfilling lives. Lives we could never dream of having back in the US, Oz, NZ, UK, Canada, or Scandinavia.
  5. Totally fake news. The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT) is one of the most feeble and ineffective of all the tools Prayuth has used to deceive the people into believing that he is fighting corruption. Who was the last high level authority, in the police, immigration, the army, or the active administration they arrested, charged, tried convicted, and sent to prison? Nobody. Zero. Nunca. Nada. Why? Because Prayuth has had a mandate from the beginning to do the very opposite. To protect the elite, the super wealthy who are guilty, those that are connected, and those who are in power. Just think Dark Tao. Just think Red Bull. The list goes on, and on, and on. Only the most naive amongst us believe he or ACT secretary-general Mana Nimitmongkol are sincere about this. It barely matters. These guys are above the law. Any and all laws. The only time they are arrested is when it becomes big news, or it is reported internationally, and Thailand gets a ton of egg on it's face. And even then, it normally does not result in a conviction. Very, very few current (not former) police, immigration, customs, cabinet officials, army officials, or administration officials are arrested here, tried, convicted and imprisoned.
  6. According to reliable sources such as Worldometer, there were 24,434 new cases worldwide yesterday, and only 17 new deaths. More than half of the new cases were in South Korea. And nearly the entire balance in Thailand? Yet, the panic mongering continues here, and some claim up to 40,000 new cases a day. Yeah, right. The entire planet has gotten over covid, and moved on, yet the Zombie Apocalypse mentality persists here, even amongst a minority of ex-pats. When will you guys allow life to normalize and acknowledge the symptoms from the latest variants are far less fatal, and closer to a flu? I got it 6 months ago. I have had worse flus before. I stopped wearing a mask a year ago, and you will not see me with one again. I trust my own immunity, over endless booster shots and Big Pharma. They have already earned tens of billions of dollars, and enough is enough.
  7. Although I do my best to maintain good health, there are some depths I will not stoop to. Even if it were true, which it is likely not. There is so much nonsense online these days, one has to ignore most of it.
  8. Classic short sighted hubris. We are so smart, inventive, visionary, and capable, we do not need any outside help. The answer is a strong yes. Bangkok is very vulnerable, as are many seaside metros like Miami, New York, San Francisco, Manila, Calcutta, Dhaka, Hanoi, Shanghai, Lagos, Tokyo, Jakarta, and many others. Climate change is real, we are causing it, and sea level rise is inevitable. And we are definitely not doing enough to prevent it. We are behaving as if we have multiple alternative planets to move to, and we most emphatically do not.
  9. This guy sounds like a classic loser. He was too much of a deadbeat to afford the loan he either took out on his house, or signed up for to purchase the home. Then, he could not accept the fact that he was a loser, and was unable to cover his responsibilities. Then he takes it out on an earnest woman who purchases the house from the bank, by taking her life? Who is this guy? Why did his folks fail so miserably, by not teaching him basic human values? Sounds like he will have free housing for the foreseeable future. And he will likely make alot of friends, with his classy cellmates.
  10. It's time to renew and the company that we are with, which is Veriyah, is telling us that our car is worth 180,000 baht less this year. Seems strange. A nearly new Mazda CX-30. And the maximum they're willing to cover it for is considerably less than the car is worth. Fairly typical, but would prefer closer to 90% of value. Does anybody have any recommendations on a reliable car insurance company that pays claims and offers good roadside service? Is Veriyah the best? I saw some rather negative ratings online for AXA, Muang, and MSIG.
  11. This kind of thing makes me so grateful I decided long ago that bringing a child into this world, at this time of confusion, moral decay, de-evolution of society, and extreme deterioration of ethics, respect, and kindness, was the right thing to do. I just cannot even imagine having to deal with these kinds of issues.
  12. 1. His claim about being unfamiliar with the controls is utter rubbish. It is a basic truck. A 15 year old could drive it. It shows how completely unfamiliar he is with the Buddhist teachings, which is all about truth, introspection, reflection, taking responsibility for problems one causes, and behaving like a man, not a child. 2. This is a very good reason NOT to revere a religious figure, and should be a lesson to the local people. 3. He should not be driving if he does not know the very basics about vehicular control. Lock him up.
  13. Trump is likely jealous of Disney's ability to actually earn a profit. Something the duke of bankruptcy has a very, very hard time figuring out how to do. He is utterly desperate and clutching for straws. Poor, poor Don Don.
  14. I think that amounts to about a 1,400% annual rate of interest. That would have to break some records. Best to let the business go under, rather than borrowing money at that kind of rate. How did she ever think she was going to be able to pay back the money?
  15. Who are these guys, where do they come from, why are they so spectacularly ignorant, and does anyone listen to any of them? Equating equality in society with conscription, is like saying if you keep education the same as it is now, much prosperity will flow to the common man. Such tripe. If anything is certain, it is that the power and wealth of the Thai army needs to be diminished, in order for the nation to prosper. They are like a vacuum, sucking the blood and treasury from society. A vampire group.
  16. This is a very bad decision. The war on drugs has failed miserably, and it is never a good idea to attempt to stop progress. Though they are on the right track with alot of their policies, this one is wrong. Bone headed, conservative, and on the wrong side of history.
  17. 46 was 45. The 45th worst in the history of the nation.
  18. Hey Ron. A small tip for you, since you appear to need the assist. Stop complaining about the dems, try to do some productive work for your state, and attempt to come up with some creative policy to support your megalomaniacal presidential aspirations. And number one, didn't any ever tell you that is likely the worst job on planet earth? And number two you may think your wife is magazine cover material, but most of the planet does not. She looks ok with tons of makeup, but she is no model type.
  19. I wonder if they should get the genius minds who devised this new scheme to work on the discovery of practical nuclear fusion reactors.
  20. The real estate market here is soft, except for land in some areas. Anything to the contrary is industry sponsored PR nonsense, such as the article about Phuket we saw a few days ago. It will likely only get softer in the short term, with rising interest rates.
  21. We have received alot of complaints. I think most of them were from soldiers in the army, directed by the guy who said "he would honor the elections results". Yes, this is his version of honor. No doubt there is alot of chicanery going on, with parties who have been told by the people they are not wanted, they are not needed anymore, they are not liked, and they are not trusted. Sour grapes.
  22. One of the most unique names I heard was a beautiful young receptionist at a hotel. Her name was Kittiporn. Had to work hard to keep a straight face, with that one. Obviously a bizarre nickname. Some other strange Thai names? Surassa Fhaumnuaypol, Charunee Chaimongkhon, and Ratnapon Jaturapattarapong.
  23. Not strange at all. No need to shame him for reporting the facts. Your pleasant experience was the exception, it is not the rule. Not even close to a normal experience.
  24. Yes, immigration often makes me angry. They are arrogant, surly, and overly difficult. Far more than they need to be.
  25. She is a woman of courage and conviction. She is one of the few Republicans at the national level that has any relationship with truth and integrity, and is not afraid of the orange monster. Amazing that a foul creature such as Dick Cheney could have spawned a decent human being.
