Over 10,000 Covid Cases In Chonburi Last Week
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Correct. Except Mexico. They seem to have totally defied the world order, the IMF, or whoever was behind this shutdown stupidity. Their economy thrived and is still doing well. Growth was 3.9% this past quarter. Few jobs were lost. Why the rest of the world marched willingly, lock step into economic chaos is anyone's guess. -
Over 10,000 Covid Cases In Chonburi Last Week

Correct. What we witnessed was an abomination. There was an agenda, no doubt, and it was heinous. And now, rather than mankind showing it's better nature, we are seeing generational gouging, with silly stuff like supply chains and supply and demand, being used as an excuse. It is simple gouging. It is an opportunity for historic profiteering. It is grotesque. And we call ourselves an advanced species? -
After 9 years of turning Thailand from the once great tiger of SE Asia, into a whiny, sickly, anemic alley cat, and nearly destroying the entire tourism industry, with highly selective, draconian shutdowns, favoring his cronies, and crushing the common man, and other extremely foolish policies, he is now giving advice to investors. It would be like asking Nicolas Cage for financial advice. Or asking Chuwit how to deal with the failed war on drugs. Or asking Justin Bieber for advice on nuclear fusion technology. Or asking Xi for advice on human rights. Or asking Trump how to demonstrate integrity while getting rich. Prayuth is a failure. He fails at everything he touches. Thankfully, this charlatan is on his way out, heading toward utter oblivion, and the waste basket of tragic history.

Govt Seeks Heritage Status for Traditional Thai Pha Khao Ma
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
When you start promoting clothing as a cultural heritage thing, you are essentially admitting your nation and culture are not having much impact on the world. Which is OK. Just be comfortable with that, and stop forcing the issue. "In shallow men the fish of little thoughts cause much commotion. In oceanic minds the whales of inspiration make hardly a ruffle". -
Cult in Isaan encourages women to worship vagina and penis statues

If a man asks that question, there is likely nothing I can say that will have much impact on your mind. It is like asking what is the difference between farmed Thai prawns, and wild Deep sea Cardinal prawns? Or what is the difference between pollock and blue fin tuna? Prime meat, or seafood is hard to describe, but you know it when you see it! -
Crazy Amounts New Yorkers spend to live

It is not just New York. Nearly any major city in the US now is out of control. Inflation is rampant. Not sure how most are surviving. -
Crazy Amounts New Yorkers spend to live
spidermike007 replied to LaosLover's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I had a new wine cooler fixed yesterday here. It cost 800 baht in the US, you can't get a tech to come out for less than $300 now, and if requires any real work, $600 and up. Since when do blue collar guys get to charge what psychiatrists charge? A friend of mine is looking for an apartment to move to in LA, and really small, simple places are 70,000 baht per month. Nice two bedrooms are closer to 100,000 baht. Decent homes start at 125,000 baht per month. The cost of nearly everything has gone up dramatically. Runaway inflation? Likely 22% at the moment. Thailand is still reasonable. It used to be cheap. Has not been cheap for a long time. But, it is still reasonable. I know people who pay 10,000 baht a month for newer 3 bedroom houses in nice towns. In major cities in the US? $2000-3800 a month. That is 120,000 baht! I had a motorbike seat recently redone on a scooter. 400 baht. A friend of mine had similar work done in the US. $275. I recently had a guy come over and insulate my ceiling. I bought the insulation and paid him 2000 baht for labor. In the US? $500 and up. I recently had an electrician do some work on the house. Nearly a full day of work. Paid him 1000 baht. In the US? $500 and up. An oil change for my scooter costs me 200 baht, with Castrol oil. In the US? $75. When I travel here I stay in nice four star hotels in Bangkok. Usually 1800-2000 baht. In the US? $130 for a crappy motel. $200 and up for a nice room. I eat well here. In a smaller town you can get a three course meal for 150-250 baht. In the US? 2000 baht and up, plus tax and a nearly mandatory 15% tip. I visit the emergency room here to visit a specialist, and with x-rays I am out the door for 2000 baht, at a private hospital. In the US? $300-2000. An anecdote on this subject. A good friend of mine got in a bad motorcycle accident some time ago. He almost lost his leg. He got his first of 11 operations at Bangkok Hospital Samui. It costs him over a million baht. They wanted to do a second procedure. They quoted him 1,400,000 baht. He decided to transfer to Bangkok. He was quoted 460,000 baht for the same procedure, at a top private hospital there. The surgeon told him that he worked at a public hospital too, and could do the same operation there, for alot less money. He told him he would get him a quote. In the interim, my friend called a good friend of his, in San Diego, who is an orthopedic surgeon. Since my friend is a retired chiropractor, he knew all the terminology, and explained what he needed, and asked for the best price. His friend called him back the next day, and quoted him $960,000, with cash discounts! The local surgeon here got back to him, and told him he could do it for 46,000 baht. He transferred, and they did all the rest of his procedures. So, 1,400,000 at Bangkok Hospital, 460,000 at Vejthani Hospital, and 46,000 at the public hospital, with an excellent surgeon. VS. 31,000,000 baht in the US. Again, no complaints from this peanut gallery. Friends of mine, who are single, enjoy the company of a young, beautiful woman for a couple of hours, for 2500 baht. In the US? $800 an hour now for a decent looking gal, with alot of attitude, and a whole list of rules. Who needs that nonsense? Any of it. -
Cult in Isaan encourages women to worship vagina and penis statues

By saying they all seem the same to you, you are essentially saying you have very little interest in sex, these days. And that is OK. But, it is a bit like saying every painting is the same, or every song is the same. -
China overtakes Japan as world's top car exporter
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
And the beautiful thing about this equation, is that we have free will. I will be using that free will to make sure I never buy a Chinese made car. Not sure I would risk driving in one, if it was offered to me for free. -
Thailand Provides Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
How much aid? It does not state the amount, so it falls into the category of PR. And was it given to an organization that can get the funds to the people? Or, was it added to the tens of billions of dollars the generals are earning on timber, gemstones, mining, Chinese investments, slavery, and the drug trade? -

And whatever the vaccines did or did not do, they earned each of the major manufacturers tens of billions of dollars in profit. But, you are a radical if you question the narrative, so start behaving yourself. Be a good, compliant boy, and obey. I am not anti-vax. I simply like to be able to question things. And I stopped wearing a mask a year ago. No way I am going back to that. And I have no fear of covid in it's present form. Got it already. Have had flus that were worse.- 75 replies

Sounds like a fun and practical faith. Many humans already worship these organs. So, why not incorporate that into a faith? Seems very practical, and enjoyable way to enhance one's life. Personally, I find some vaginas to be a miraculous and spectacular thing to behold! -

Totally agree about the Korean cars. And many Korean products as well. Kia is also a great brand, as well as Hyundai, Genesis, and Renault Samsung. Other brands like Samsung and LG, are top quality, in the electronics arena. The Chinese need decades to prove themselves to the world. They make an awful lot of low quality stuff. Can they, and are they willing to master the kind of quality control the Japanese and Koreans have, remains to be seen, by a longshot. -

spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Granted, I am partial, but I will buy a Japanese car over a Chinese car, any day of the week, and likely for the remainder of this lifetime. 1. They are proven commodities. They have a track history. 2. They are very dependable. And easy to repair. 3. They are great cars, for the money and have good resale value. 4. Japanese cars are very safe. The jury is out on Chinese cars. I have reason to question the quality of the workmanship. 5. I do not find Chinese cars appealing anyway. MG looks nice on the outside, but on the inside they feel cheap to me, and the power train is not sufficient. They have cut corners. 6. They are made by a government that does not have huge concentration camps, nor do they engage in organ harvesting. Call me biased. I despise the CCP, and will do everything in my power to deny them support. There are alot of products I buy that are made in China. Not my car. Not now, and not ever. -
Speaking in very general terms, there is not much upside to frequently mentioning your ex to a current girlfriend or your wife. Unless, you are deliberately trying to destroy household harmony, piss her off, or you are trying to push her out the door. Unless you are a butthead, and just like getting under her skin. The problem is, there is a percentage of humanity that just does not think, before they talk.

Such a nothing burger. They were having a one on one conversation, and the clown interrupted them. Biden put him in his place. Trump has done far worse, and showed no regard to reporters ever, going as far as calling them juvenile names.

No problem in my life has ever been my fault, and that is precisely why I always utterly refuse to take responsibility for my actions. Why should I reflect, and look within for the source of the problem I caused, when it is always something else? It is never me. I am perfect. I never make a mistake. It was the road!

Move Forward party optimistic of positive response from senators
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is an opportunity for the morally bankrupt creeps to do the right thing. Hopefully, they are consulting with their psychics, who are telling them their lives will be nothing but misery, pestilence, sorrow, and pain, if they do not support Pita. Same applies to the lives of their family members. The people will not forget this time. Times have changed. You goons had your free for all, and your feeding frenzy. You likely enriched yourselves to a shameful degree. Time to let go. Time to admit you are despised, disrespected, and your time is in the past. See ya. Get out. Get out now. Make way for the future and the youth. Do it, or your regret will be profound!- 56 replies

Why do people do this.
spidermike007 replied to stratocaster's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
He likely did not have much in the way of "life savings", if a 3 year lease on the land wiped him out. The information we have been given is incomplete, and not enough for us to form much of a basis on. Rural land lease prices here are generally quite low, so no idea what this is about. Perhaps the OP would like to clarify some of this for us? -

When is the last time you were in a Gourmet market in Bangkok? Some of the prices are downright stupid. These days, you just have to be good at ignoring nonsense. I guess some fools buy this stuff. Not us, hopefully. -
