  1. I always check my passport stamp, to make sure the dates are correct, since I use a one year, multiple entry retirement visa. If there is no entry stamp, immigration obviously goofed up. To lock a tourist up for their immigration's own mistake is utterly heinous, deplorable, shameful, bitter, xenophobic, nasty and foul. I complain about immigration often. I consider them to be one of the least pleasant, and most toxic branches of this horrendous administration. Your honor, the defense rests.
  2. Well, for repeat offenders, who commit crimes of consequence, you know the system is utterly broken when they are spending more time on the streets, than in prison. Perhaps more needs to be done. Mandatory castration, exile, or worse? And I say that as a centrist democrat. Obviously, not a snowflake. And some of my friends recoil in horror. Ha!
  3. Extreme coddling. They are an overly entitled gender here in the LOS. Boys from an early age are told they are special. What parents need to start doing is to tell their sons: 1. You are nothing special. You become special when you prove yourself to be a worth person. An exemplary character. A cut above the rest. Someone who gives and does not just take. 2. Your sister is special. She works hard, she is ambitious, and she is not lazy. Prove yourself to be at least equal to her. Women run this country. 3. Respect is not freely given. It must be earned. Go out into the world and earn respect.
  4. Yes, they were the most popular party, till the heinous, power hungry, super corrupt army regime managed to outlaw them. Thanathorn was on his way towards leadership, and he may have been the one shot Thailand had, at becoming a great nation again. Now, the jurassic creeps remain in charge. Hopefully, that will change soon. And when it does, only arrest, exile or worse will be good enough for Prayuth, Prawit and Anutin.
  5. Sounds like another weak, pathetic, pathological, simple minded man, who stopped developing emotionally when he was 13. May he rot in prison, where he is sure to make some lovely new friends.
  6. There are an extremely limited number of rich tourists who visit Thailand, for a dozen valid reasons. They continue to attract primarily low to middle income Indians, Malaysians, and Chinese. Fewer Europeans and Americans and very few with real money. Rich tourists have alot of options, without ignorant luxury and wine taxes, dumb laws, and scammers. Having said that, Thailand remains a relatively safe place to travel.
  7. The retirement visa is infinitely simpler. Far fewer hurdles, and paperwork and less proof required. I despised everything about the marriage visa application process. I began to hate immigration with a passion. Since going with the retirement visa, the entire experience is less obnoxious. It is worth the switch.
  8. This man re-defines the word guilt. He has been guilty since he was a young man, and has always felt the law does not apply to him. The real question is not whether or not he is guilty of felonies. The question is, can they get a conviction, or do they want to get a conviction?
  9. Regardless of where you buy, always buy an inverter, and use a unit plenty large for the room. It is all about efficiency, which saves money in the long run. And if you are installing in a rental unit, unless the landlord agrees to pay for the unit, always make them aware of the installation, and clarify that you will be taking the unit with you, when you leave.
  10. We don't know exactly what happened. But, we do know a few things. Driving a bike at excessive speed here, or without a very good helmet, is an invitation for trouble. Ask yourself one thing. Is my life already complicated enough, without a serious bike accident? Darwin insisted that some species and some members of those species were more fit for survival than others. It would appear the roads here, and especially motorbike riders, are a perfect example of his theories in action. It takes certain qualities to survive on the roads here. Patience, being very conscious of your surroundings, driving defensively, avoiding excessive speed, especially in town, following basic traffic rules and laws, always wearing a good helmet, and avoiding being overly stupid, at all times. Many Thais, and many foreigners who live here and visit are extremely casual about driving, and seem to have little understanding of the dangers involved, and the need to be 100% focused, at all times. Especially on a motorbike.
  11. While that is true, notice how it is almost always opposition guys, and not army clowns, who are outed? That is the issue here. That is the crux of the extreme level of moral bankruptcy consistently displayed by the Prayuth regime.
  12. Good question. I think it is a good general rule of thumb, to question anything and everything the RTP says and reports. After all, what have they ever done to earn our respect and trust? Ever? Same applies to the media here.
  13. Sugar cane itself, or long bamboo staffs come to mind. They work for monkeys. They just might work for cane farmers.
  14. Men who have bombs in their homes generally do not have much goodwill towards mankind. So, when a bomb explodes and kills them, sympathy is extremely limited. Rather, it ends up purifying the oxygen in the general environment, as it relieves the area of excess toxicity. See ya!
  15. Great news. Alot of egg on the face of the Russian gangster, king vlad. Looks as if everything he thought he might accomplish with this zany invasion, is going belly up. If there is one thing the Ukraine invasion taught us, it is that vlad was not nearly as smart as many of us thought. Like Trump, he is just a very talented criminal. The major difference is vlad has the opportunity to unleash his inner psychopath, and cause alot of terror and mayhem.
  16. Always an opposition candidates behavior being questioned, while the retrograde army guys misbehave on a daily basis. Playing cards. Yeah, such questionable morality. We can't have a leader who plays cards.
  17. Wow. 14 years old. One had to wonder what the circumstances were that led her to this place. Was she kidnapped? Was she a sex slave from Burma? One wonders.
  18. Does anyone on this forum think a request for a red notice will be adhered to, much less enforced? Is the credibility of a government taken into account? Is a regime like the one we have here just ignored and scorned? For instance, when Interpol is aware that Thailand has no real interest in the bringing Thaksin, or the Red bull creep back here for trial, is that taken into account? In this case, it is unlikely they would defy their master Xi. And it is possible these thugs worked for the CCP mafia. Who knows?
  19. Perhaps a nationwide educational program for farmers. Guilt and shame them into changing? You are killing your countrymen and ruining the environment. Do you care one iota?
  20. When the crop burning starts to kill the population, and lowers the quality of life for those of us who don't die, isn't it time to take action? We just don't need the sugar. Shut down this toxic, heinous industry. Lock up the farmers. Sieze their land. Do whatever it takes.
  21. I would guess in Europe the cost of a life is considered of consequence. Not here. And the will of the people likely carries greater weight. Not here. At least not under this useless army regime. Burning is against the law here. Is anything being done to stop the cane farmers? Have you seen the actual burning from cane? The amount of soot and junk released into the already toxic air is astonishing. Yet, it continues. Do nothing Prayuth does nothing about it. He does not care. The health of the masses means nothing to him. My guess is, his every waking moment is spent counting his ever increasing fortune.
  22. If I ever get cancer, I would not even consider doing chemo or radiation. No thanks. I am self insured. If something serious happens, I will try to get it treated out of pocket here. If I can't, time to move on. I have very little fear of death.
  23. We used to be best friends. But, I don't Iike you anymore. You won't pay me back, so therefore I think the best way for me to recover my money, is to kill you. I am very practical. Quite a solution, huh?
  24. 1. Escalate it to management in Bangkok. Forget the dealership for now. Often, once you reach a more senior person, with common sense, reason, intelligence and vision, they will often take things into their own hands and make it right. 2. If this does not work, start a major social media campaign. Slander them to no end. Don't even concern yourself with the dumb and cowardly libel laws. Do what you need to do. It will get their attention. Shame and humiliation is often a powerful tool here.
  25. These clowns have presided over a dramatic drop in quality of life, and the well being of the average Thai. These guys are toxic, corrosive, corrupt, ineffective, incompetent, untrustworthy, very bad for the nation, and virtually assure a rotten future for the nation, a drop to 75th place in GDP, and increasing irrelevance. They have already turned Thailand from the tiger of SE Asia, to a sorry, rabid, whiny, anemic alley cat.
