  1. All of this reminds one of 15th century England. Imagine how hard it must have been to accuse someone like Thomas Stanley, in the court of Henry VII? Upakit and these judges are about as untouchable as the most powerful men of the House of Tudor, York, and the House of Lancaster. Another solution is required, to arrest the rot in the system. One which is beyond the law.
  2. Notice the key word here, transferred. The RTP at it's inception seems to have been created with a status quo from the government. We will NOT pay you a living wage, but you have a franchise, and the limit of your income is based solely on your own creativity and initiative, and you will always be protected. Is that not the case? Are they patrolling the highways to find reckless drivers? No. Why? Because they do not care one iota about traffic safety. It is all lip service. The RTP are a blight on the nation.
  3. I have spoken to countless Thais over the past 8 years, including some who are government workers, and I have not been able to find a single one who likes this guy, or his hapless administration. Not one. And covid did not help. I doubt if he will get many votes, which are not bought and paid for. This guy needs to be put out to pasture, charged with crimes, and locked up, or deported, not made to serve even longer. Get out now.
  4. As a cinephile, watching the oscars recently, I was struck by the mediocrity of the host, Jimmy Kimmel, and the bizarre selection of oscar winners. I could not even get through Everything, everywhere all at once. I found it convoluted, dizzying and incoherent. And I felt Jamie Lee Curtis put in a very annoying performance, nor worthy of an oscar. Also, the Banshees and Elvis were nominated for how many oscars, and won zero? And the in memoriam section left out some very good actors, including Paul Sorvino, Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Fred Ward, and included some very obscure ones. Who are the producers, and why are they involved? Anyone else agree?
  5. No. In the US both Peets and Coffee Bean and Tea leaf have far superior products. For both coffee and tea drinkers. Starbucks is highly over rated and over priced, and very corporate and generic. I try to avoid them, whenever possible.
  6. There are certainly worse accusations in life. Some guys like us, simply prefer younger women. Not kids, but women who are 5, 10, 15, even 20 or 25 years younger than us. For a dozen very valid reasons. I could break them down, but why bother? The PC crew will jump on this and say it is not right. You should not be able to have this kind of life, without jumping over ridiculous hurdles! Means nothing to me. I do not do PC. The other wonderful aspect of a younger woman, is her open mind. Alot of women here, who are over 40, tend to be highly conventional and conservative, stubborn and strong willed, and NOT open minded. Not open to spontaneous ideas, or changing the routine. They have done it their own way for so long, and it works for them. Why would you even hope any of that rigidity would change now? Why be with a woman our age, if we do not need to? Nothing wrong with it, if it works for you. But It is virtually impossible for a 60 year old man in the US, to hook up with a 35 year old woman, unless she is very fat or very ugly, or he is a centimillionaire, or is famous. Period. It just does not happen in this day and age.
  7. Putin has been a serial killer for a long time now. And he has stolen and extorted tens of billions. Now, he is slaughtering women and children. So, yes he is a felon, and has been for a long time, it just took awhile for the international community to label him as such. The world would be a far better place without this monster.
  8. 1. Giving BA a monopoly on the island, was always going to limit the number of people willing to pay those high prices to get there. 2. Lower hotel prices. Oh my God. What a concept. You mean make a sacrifice to attract tourism? Wow.
  9. Nobody is mentioning the elephant in the room. Why is the Hua Hin airport the least utilized airport in the nation, and possibly SE Asia?
  10. Perspective is a good thing to have. When my mom passed at a relatively young age, I started counting the remainder of my life in months, rather than years. As in, perhaps I have 300 months to go. It is far too vague to think of it in terms of years. It just does not mean much. 300 months means I do not have enough time remaining to wait in line at a parking garage, a post office, or a restaurant. Nor, do I have time to tolerate much in the way of nonsense.
  11. The pathological desire to get attention on social media these days is so great, many seem willing to risk harming themselves, or getting arrested, to garner some attention. Might be more practical to get some psychological help, to get to the root of the issue.
  12. I heard our serial killing neighborhood PM, Hun Sen has a security detail of 5,000 men. Likely what it takes to keep him alive, as he is despised like few others. I wonder about Prayuth.
  13. Has the "highly investigative media" considered the construction standards, applied to the railings, the lack of adequate height, or any other possibility? Stoned? Is that all you guys have? Really?
  14. Michelle, by a long shot. However, she was gorgeous 30 years ago. I am not into 60 year olds, though she looks great for her age. She is very talented. One question. Am I the only one who thought Everything, Everywhere was a convoluted mess? 7 Oscars? Are they serious? I couldn't even get through it.
  15. I disagree. I have a CX-30. It is a giant step up from the Mazda 3.
  16. I wonder how many "humanitarian missions" they have flown, relative to trips for the overly entitled, overly wealthy, overfed, relatively useless generals. And what exactly does the army do for the people? 5 billion baht seems like an awful lot of money to shlepp the generals around. The army sometimes feels like a giant vacuum cleaner, absorbing as much of the national budget as they can. And what do they offer the people in exchange?
  17. I find both the Yaris and the City downright boring and conventional, compared to the Mazda. Any newer Mazda. And little if any fun to drive. Life is short. Enjoy something nice.
  18. You would be pleasantly surprised by the power the CX-30 has. And it gets good mileage too. In the mountains, I have never felt it lacks what I need. And the paddle shifters increase the fun of driving it.
  19. I agree. However, he is not really stealing work from the locals. He is helping his friends out. The letter of the law becomes a trap, when applied literally, especially when the laws were written by short sighted, xenophobic morons. I have never been a respector of badly written laws, and hope I never become one. Some rebellion is needed in this day and age. Some of us really enjoy putting up a fight, in the face of nonsense.
  20. I am about 183 cm tall and a fairly big guy. It is a little small getting in. But, once inside it is very comfy and spacious. Headroom is no problem. If you are 200cm tall, might be different. Worth it. Great car. Would buy another.
  21. You are providing a good service for your friends. Whether it is legal or not, some laws are so lame, so onerous, so ignorant, that they are meant to be ignored. March on. Keep providing a great service to your people.
  22. This article is very misleading and highly disengenuous. Welcoming a refugee, who is fleeing political persecution and is penniless, is a completely different thing than welcoming a tourist, willing to spend alot of money to stay here. Please. It is immoral to describe a Russian tourist as a refugee. Sure, they are fleeing a madman dictator who seems to enjoy killing women and children. But, they don't fit the description of most refugees around the world.
  23. I don't want to sound irreverent or totally disrespectful, but I can think of a dozen reasons why someone might want to take out a politician here. I am surprised they don't need 24/7 protection.
  24. The Fortuner is a real gas hog. Way too big for my taste.
  25. Go for the CX-30. Not big at all and very easy to drive, park, and maneuver. And it is a dream car on the highway. My Thai wife drives it, and loves it! So do I.
