Don Mueang Airport ranks among the most dangerous airports in the world
Of course not. Don't blame us! We have great skills and put public safety at the top of our list. Plus, we hire the best maintenance people and engineers, at great expense. Anything to protect the people.

Don Mueang Airport ranks among the most dangerous airports in the world
Another list has it listed as the 13th most dangerous in the world. Seems the golf course is just one of the issues. I always thought it was bizarre. Servicing Bangkok, Thailand, there is nothing particularly special about Don Mueang International Airport except that there is a golf course in between two of the airport's runways. Despite the reasonably conventional design of the airport, a large number of flights both landing here and originating here have crashed. While there are different reasons for each crash, the fact that many of these flights are tied to this airport is a scary one. Does this make the airport suspect? Not necessarily. There has to be an airport that has a higher crash-to-successful landing ratio, this airport just happens to be it! https://wanderwisdom.com/transportation/Most-Dangerous-Airports This list has it ranked at #9. When you look at it for a distance, you will notice that the airport looks like any other normal airport. But when you see it closely from a distance you will be amazed to spot that the very famous Don Mueang International Airport has a golf course exactly in the middle of the two runways. The airport was originally constructed for military operations but it now serves as an airport for just commercial airlines. Besides, the gold course in the centre has been barred for public access due to security and safety concerns. Many people can be heard saying how surreal the golf course location is and even if they dared or wished to opt for a golf session will be interrupted with an aeroplane flying just 20 yards away. https://liamtra.com/blog/top-10-dangerous-airports-in-the-world/ It is also ranked 4/10 overall, on Skytrax. https://www.airlinequality.com/airport-reviews/bangkok-don-muang-airport/

Outgoing PM calls for peaceful and prompt transition of power
Nobody cares what you think. You are irrelevant. You were a completely failed leader. You nearly broke the nation. Get out. Get out now. Leave the country. You are not liked, you are not wanted, you are despised.

Billing brawl: Furious Thai man triggers chaos over Lotus’s overcharge
Lock up the rude idiot, who completely lacks any sort of decorum, or manners. At least 90 days for disorderly behavior. And question his parents. Why did you fail so miserably? Did you teach him anything? Was he ever disciplined, or did you spend his entire childhood and adolescence telling him how special he was?

OPINION: Thailand’s people have spoken. Will its military listen?
These irresponsible goons had better listen. Everything has changed, the moral authority is gone, 9 years of army rule has the nation tired, frustrated, and very, very disappointed. All bets are off, if they start playing games now. This is not Burma, and the soldiers will not fight a war against the people. It could take awhile, and it could get ugly, though it will never get to the hellish level of Burma, as the Thai parents would never, ever permit that kind of genocidal behavior from their sons. You take out one more Thai, and you are forever disowned by this family. That is all it would take to bring about mass defections from the army ranks. That would sure be fun to witness. Are the pompous generals going to put themselves into harms way? Never. They do not have it in them, they are cowards.

What it costs to live in Thailand, on a budget ?
It is a very personal choice. I have friends who seem to be dropping like flies. I could be dead next year. You just don't know. I am not extravagant, but I live very, very well. A nice house, a new car every few years, new motorbikes for my gal and I every few years, a great art collection, plenty of good wine in the wine cooler, a new 77" OLED TV, a world class home theatre, plenty of international travel, etc. For me, it is a great lifestyle, that I could only dream of in the US. Well worth the expense and very easy to justify. Life is way too short. I have never been a person of extreme thrift. To each his own.

Thailand braces for liquor industry disruption under Move Forward
Only history will reveal how regressive, draconian, repressive, incapable, and backward thinking Prayuth was. And in addition, he had nothing in the way of leadership qualities. He was a very poor choice. In 9 years he moved the nation backwards by 20 years.

Thai police accused of demanding 500,000 baht from Kazakhstan suspect
The highway patrol is even worse than the RTP. They are the very definition of sloth. They rarely ever patrol the roads, they never pull anyone over for reckless driving, they never cite trucks for dangerously hogging the fast lane on a major highway, and the only time you see them is after an accident. They are an abomination.

Plea for Help: Two Thai Women Deceived and Trapped by Traffickers in India
I can understand how someone might believe this kind of income is possible in New York, or London. But, New Delhi? The monthly cost of hiring a Full Day Maid in Kamla Nagar, New Delhi varies between ₹13,004 to ₹13,938. The actual salary may vary from one Full Day Maid to the other. It is recommended to speak with them directly about their salary expectation. That is about $170 a month, or 5,400 baht. Survival instincts and the desire for preservation would compel the average person to research something like this first. https://helpersnearme.com/index/full-day-maid-in-kamla-nagar-new-delhi

When does it become time to put money aside in a separate account and self insure?
I have been self insuring for a decade now. I do not trust insurance companies, and consider most of them to be gangsters. Anything to get out of paying a claim. I despise insurance companies. I have car insurance, and accident insurance. And term life insurance for my woman, in case something happens to me. But, I gave up health insurance after my premium went up 22%, after ten years without claims. No thanks.

SRT modernisation: State railway plans 1.5 billion baht investment in electric trains
This antique system is in drastic need of improvement. Compared to some of the other infrastructure here, the rail seems to have been left in the 1950's. It is an embarrassment, and a boil on the face of the nation. Alternative forms of transportation are desperately needed here, with the highways becoming ever more choked with an insane number of trucks of all sizes. Whatever it takes, improve the rail system.

Controversial Thai Tourism Fee Postponed Again

Passenger sustains serious injury on escalator at Don Mueang airport
Was this truly a freak accident as claimed, or a severe lack of maintenance and substandard safety inspections? We all know public safety is not exactly an obsession here.

Senate deputy chairman says Pita “unlikely to get 5 votes” from senators
Senator Kittisak Rattanawaraha is an extremely bent and corrupt man, who has no perspective on anything, and cannot relate to the nation moving in a Forward direction. These kinds of imbeciles, super toxic men, and extinct dinosaurs need to be shamed, removed from politics and perhaps even exiled. Or worse. Deny the will of the people at your own peril.

Bangkok municipal pupils can wear hair styles and clothes of their choice
One giant step for Bangkok. One giant leap for Thailand. Extreme conformity is not healthy. Allowing individuality is a good thing.

There have to be at least ten cops in Thailand who adhere to some sort of a code of ethics.

What it costs to live in Thailand, on a budget ?
I spend alot more than that. And have friends who spend double that. And they are single! All depends on a choice of lifestyle, how content we are living very basic and our philosophy about our remaining years.

Thailand braces for liquor industry disruption under Move Forward
Thai beer is only rivaled by Serbian beer, and the mass produced American beers, in terms of the very low quality. Poor grade of hops, barely, and the production process seems to be entirely lacking in pride. Typical of the big monopolies. Even a large production beer, like Beer Laos blows away any Thai beer, hands down. Thailand desperately needs a vital craft beer movement, and the youth are ready to mount it. If only the dinosaurs would stop protecting their "bankers" and move out of the way. In other words, allow some progress, you mindless simpletons! Just to make sure small brewers were thoroughly intimidated, the rewrite also increased inflated penalties. Fines were increased from their original, almost quaint 200 baht ($6) for possession of bootleg alcohol to 10,000 ($300). For actually brewing without a license, fines were increased from 5,000 baht ($150) to a range of 50,000–100,000 baht ($1,600–$3,200), plus jail time. Reporting in 2017, The Bangkok Post estimated that in order to meet the new regulations, a brewer would need to have a billion baht—around $30 million—in start-up capital. For some, craft beer is associated with anti-establishment politics. “It’s very similar to the French Revolution, which started from a cafe in Paris, where people drank coffee,” says Taopiphop. “The fuel of the revolution is not coffee any more, it’s craft beer.” Taopiphop adds that, after the 2014 coup in Thailand, many pro-democracy activists chose to meet in Bangkok’s craft beer bars. Something has to change. Giving a near monopoly to huge corporations that make inferior products is never a good thing for society.

Thai police accused of demanding 500,000 baht from Kazakhstan suspect
The RTP are always guilty, until proven innocent. They are a law unto themselves. They are above the law and any stage play by Big Joke or others, is just a stunt. The police force that exists in Thailand today (written 2010) is for all intents and purposes the same one that was built by Pol. Gen. Phao Sriyanond in the 1950s. . . . It took on paramilitary functions through new special units, including the border police. It ran the drug trade, carried out abductions and killings with impunity, and was used as a political base for Phao and his associates. Successive attempts to reform the police, particularly from the 1970s onwards, have all met with failure despite almost universal acknowledgment that something must be done. Are they out finding government officials who are engaged in drug trafficking or sex slavery? No. Why? Because those goons are protected. Are they patrolling the highways to find reckless drivers? No. Why? Because they do not care one iota about traffic safety. It is all lip service. The RTP are a blight on the nation.

Concern rises over potential human trafficking as 5 women vanish in South Thailand
Just look within the ranks of immigration, the RTP and the army. Likely most of the culprits reside there.

Two deaths linked with cannabis use and violent incidents reported in recent days by Thai police
It is extremely rare. And the vast majority of the time it happens, it is due to the individual already having severe mental health issues. Other drugs are a different story. It does seem to be very clear from research that if a person already has a chronic psychotic condition, such as schizophrenia, that using marijuana can trigger an episode of psychosis. Studies also show that people with certain genes that predispose them to schizophrenia are more likely to develop the condition if they use cannabis. https://www.brightquest.com/cannabis-induced-psychosis/

Recording emerges of Donald Trump saying he is holding classified documents after leaving office
Trump is a coward and a traitor, who has always considered himself to be above the law. I truly hope he ends up behind bars. He richly deserves that.

Unhinged Thai son attacks mother in dog discipline dispute
One of the huge issues here is the princely treatment given to boys. They are nothing special. On any level. Yet, the parents let them get away with nearly anything, and spoil them rotten. What Thai parents need to start saying to their sons is this: You are nothing special. Your sister is as good as you, or better. She works harder, she is more ambitious and she does not take everything, and everyone for granted. So, until you prove to us, to the family, and to the community that you are special, by your deeds, actions, and hard work, you are not anything but a normal kid. Nothing more. My guess is there are alot of Thai parents who wonder later, where did I go wrong with my son, and why did he turn out to be so self entitled, so spoiled, so unwilling to put in a hard days work, and how did he become so rotten, and so undeserving of our care and protection?
