  1. Anything, absolutely anything that can be done to limit the power of the army, and the toxic and corrupt senators they appointed, is a good thing for the nation. The dinosaurs must be made extinct. And the youth must be allowed representation or control. Total control, if possible. They are the only ones who can move this nation forward, and stop the heinous and regressive army. The corrupt, army appointed senators need to do the right thing, if they know what is best for them, and their families. If they do not, all bets are off. The most important part of this equation was only 42 seats for Prawit and 37 for Cha Cha. It was a huge repudiation for the status quo. The people said no, I don't think so, you guys are dinosaurs, we don't want you, we don't like you, you need to disappear off the face of the earth. His election is a truly great thing for this nation and shows that the people are both sick of being led by highly ignorant dinosaurs, with no interest in progress, and interested in smart, young folks, who are serious, accomplished, capable of change, and interested in insuring that Thailand has a good future. Pita is exactly what this nation needs, at this point in time. This is a huge blessing. I am optimistic. I think he will stick to his promises.
  2. Although I see plenty of insect spray available in the stores, and I am very, very fond of the stuff myself, I have never seen anyone using it here. Been in places that were infested, and some spray would have been very effective. But, never seen the stuff used. As far as the little army guys are concerned with Dengue, be afraid. Be very afraid! That is the attitude they pray you adopt.
  3. Trump seems to have a deep seated, pathological fear of the truth. You know if he says it, it is false, exaggerated, or just plain made up nonsense. That is just how the man rolls. It is his M.O. Always has been. Always will be.
  4. Thai women are a fraction of the cost of Western women, who are over priced, on every level. If I took a woman shopping for clothes, back in the US, and limited her to $400, she would call me cheap. No gratitude. Here, I give my gal 2,000 baht when in Bangkok, and she goes to the Pratunam area, and comes back with several lovely outfits. $1,000 worth of clothes in LA. All knockoffs, but who cares? And she is grateful. Big difference. We get suckered if we allow ourselves to get pulled into thay trap. Who makes the decisions? For single guys, 2500 baht for a couple of hours with a lovely, young gal here. In the US, $800 and up, and all kinds of silly rules and restrictions. Not much fun.
  5. Read up. You obviously don't understand how the system works. The US FBI exerts a huge amount of influence on other nations, when it comes to this area of copyright infringement. They have appointed themselves the world's police, as alot of the context comes from American companies. The FBI aggressively pursues intellectual property enforcement through traditional investigative methods, intelligence initiatives and coordinated efforts with private industry and domestic and foreign law enforcement partners. Over the last two years, the FBI, through the IPRU, provided training on IPR to law enforcement officials from 15 different countries. https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/news/testimony/intellectual-property-law-enforcement-efforts
  6. Outrage seems to be a new sport. These so called netizens would be better served to get a real life. Anger is not a fun emotion to live with.
  7. Not the case. If it was, we would be pursued for downloads and free streaming. Like back in the US, where it is a serious crime. And you can bet the FBI has tried. They can't help but to over reach. Maybe the nitwits got one thing right?
  8. He is guilty of this, and so much more. If only the people knew the extent of his guilt. One can hope a case will be brought before the Hague, and he will end up in exile. They shut down the economy due to covid. But, burning cane is ok. Can't they see the effect it is having on the air? Do they care one iota? Don't the leaders live here too? Why are they MIA? Why don't the "do nothing guys" do something for a change? When the crop burning starts to kill the population, and lowers the quality of life for those of us who don't die, isn't it time to take action? We just don't need the sugar. Shut down this toxic, heinous industry. Lock up the farmers. Sieze their land. Do whatever it takes. The problem is not only the politicians, but also the people, a large part of the population, which does not care: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/4/12/how-chiang-mai-became-the-worlds-most-polluted-city Great article. At least they state the truth. It is field burning and predatory agricultural practices, more than wildfires, that is to blame. And the army won't touch the giant growers. Perhaps a more creative and far more drastic approach would work?
  9. The extreme left is pushing the woke agenda, and both the moderate dems, and the right are pushing back. Very few like it. Alot just go along with it. Being "not PC" has its risks these days.
  10. There are a dozen good reasons to avoid this big brother society. 1. When your personal data is exposed, it can make you vulnerable to data breaches. 2. Cashless transactions rely on technology, which sometimes fails. 3. When you pay with a credit card or a digital platform, it costs retailers money in the form of third-party fees. At a time when many small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, these fees can really add up. 4. Vulnerable populations — including low-income earners, retirees, some immigrants and people with disabilities — “have little or no access to electronic payments and are increasingly shut out as banks cut back on ATMs and customer service. I could go on, and on, and on.
  11. And you can make an argument that the US has legitimate interests to defend against. Thailand? Really? When was the last time these generals fought, and if they had to, could they avoid wetting their pants? And having said that, I do not think the US has been in a "righteous war" since WWII.
  12. Stay on her like white on rice. In the past I have had people who owed me money. Nearly always, I was able to collect. Rarely did I ever go to court. I kept up relentless pressure on them. I used social media, I used their relatives, their tenants, whatever angle I could find to increase the pressure, increase the hurt, the shame, the embarrassment, the guilt. It nearly always works. The last thing in the world you should do is take off the pressure. Keep on hammering her, in every way imaginable. She will likely succumb. The last guy who tried to steal some money from me, when he paid me back in cash, in full, a year or so later, told me that the only reason I got my money back, is that he needed to get his life back. It became a game for me. It was almost fun, by the end. A real challenge.
  13. There is no question that the woke thing is out of control in the US, in Canada, in Europe and in some other places. Moderate, sensible people are being forced to use terms, and accept the ideologies of far fewer than 1% of the population. Here, I have not experienced any of that, thankfully. Live and let live. I have no issue with anyone doing what makes them comfortable, or happy. Just do not force me to speak how you want me to speak, and use all of your special terminology. I am not a PC person. I remember once I referred to someone as being gay. They were very offended. I am not gay. I am non-binary. OK. How would I know that, and how can you be offended, due to me not knowing that? How is that my issue, on any level? I told him, her, who knows, to grow some thicker skin. I am a very open minded person. I have alot of gay friends, and they are all comfortable being called gay. A Rasmussen poll found that 71 percent of Americans think political correctness is a problem today. When is being politically correct more about civility and politeness? When when does it veer into censorship? When is it justified? When is it not justified? https://www.jacksonville.com/opinion/2016-09-30/has-political-correctness-gone-too-far
  14. My question is this. If the extremely toxic and dangerously timid army were unwilling to take any risks whatsoever, with regard to Covid, why are they spending 22 billion baht on submarines? Obviously there is some risk in operating subs, and even more risk if as they say, they are purposed to protect against terrorist threats and any threat in the South China Sea. The real budget is more like 13 billion baht for the first S26T Yuan Class sub, due in 2013. And the real cost for the subsequent two? Thai naval forces have not operated submarines for over 60 years now, while neighboring countries, particularly those with a major dispute at sea with Thailand, such as Vietnam, are all equipped with modern submarines. Looks like they are willing to take a huge risk with the treasury. Why so timid with Covid? This government is a whirlpool of conflicting loyalties and interests. It's leader has to manage those interests, and effectively buy the loyalties of the various parts of the armed forces. The submarines are the price he has to pay for the navy supporting him. They will end up unusable and unaffordable, as did the aircraft carrier There is no strategic justification for the submarines. There is really no military threat to Thailand, none of the countries with which it shares a land border have the capacity for anything other than the occasional cross border firefight. If you look carefully at all the military procurement of recent years, they are all to support ambitions, and thus buy the support of the various rival groups within the armed forces. They simply do not add up to any sort of a coherent modernisation or re-equipment of what remains a largely obsolete, immobile and under trained force, able only to undertake the most mundane of garrison duties, whilst it's bloated leadership occupies itself with playing politics or their own largely unregulated business ventures. The government however (or more realistically those to whom it reports) must rely upon the military to keep it in power. It was put into power for one core function; to prevent the nascent political, social and economic liberalisation of Thai society which arose with the arrival of new technologies and communications, which have allowed a (younger) population which has long been kept ill educated and dependent for any advancement on its elders and sponsors, to communicate, educate themselves and develop business independent of those elders and sponsors. The Covid crisis is in a dimension beyond that, and it's timid, chaotic "rabbit in the headlights" response to the challenges it brings are simply because it does not know how to react, other than to use some of the opportunities to exercise power, in pursuit of that core function, which the social and political restrictions they argue the disease has necessitated give them.
  15. These broadcasting companies, Amazon, Prime, and the cable companies are real sharks, and locking someone up for ages, for infringement of a copyright means nothing to them. It is heinous. And they get law enforcement, the FBI, and other over reaching three letter agencies to do their bidding. Just like the recent shutdown of Z Library, one of the best sites for book downloads around. Fortunately the clever sites are always finding new hosts, or new nations with which to host their sites, staying one step ahead of the real governmental predators. Does not sound like anyone was harmed here, other than depriving a mega corporation of a crumb or two. Thankfully streaming and downloads are no big deal here. At least not yet. My guess is that the FBI (fidelity only to big corporations, not brave at all, and very little integrity) have already approached Thailand, and were politely told to take a walk, and take their nonsense elsewhere.
  16. Many forget. Everything has changed, due to the current complete lack of moral authority. That is a huge factor. The army is not what it once was, and the people desire change.
  17. Life can be like that. If we don't choose, who does? Life is what we make it. Over here, we are not the desperados we were in our home nation. We don't have to be. Too many options.
  18. Note to the senators. Perform based in the will of the people, or you run the risk of a life of ruin. Your days are over. The army is a sad sack, morally bankrupt institution, which has fallen out of favor with the nation. Everything has changed. Go, Pita, go!
  19. Yes, correct. I don't like Thailand. I love Thailand. I love every day I spend here, and am very grateful for the quality of life here. I really like most Thai people. However, I despise the government. But, that could be said of the US, and many others. Enough said. Feel free to enlighten us on what you consider a perfect nation. I could go on, but I won't.
  20. That is way too young. Such a shame. 30s is too soon. Dying in your 30's is tragic. As is the 40s Sympathy dissapates from there. 50s is such a shame 60s is too soon 70s a good run 80s a life well lived 90s - a hell of a ride
  21. No. Don't do it. It is a very bad idea for some very good reasons. Well, we all seem to have a very different definition of what girlfriend is, or is not. I hear some men or women talk about being in love with someone after knowing them for a short time. All that is, is anxiety, impatience, and the intense desire to be in love. Some are more in love with the idea of being in love, than with the person they are with. I think for most of us who are emotionally healthy, the idea of taking one's time to really get to know someone, is alot more informative and desirable, than just losing oneself in the moment. I have seen countless men lose their fortunes, or at least their financial stability here, by moving too fast, assuming she is someone she definitely is not, and projecting too much onto someone they have not bothered to really get to know, and allowing the woman to push the agenda. Always push back against a timeline. Always. It is far better to lose the woman, than to unnecessarily lose your money and feel like a fool. I think finding a good woman requires a proper qualification process. Taking a long time to make a determination to see if she is worthy of your time, and devotion, is always a good idea. See what she is made of. See what kind of heart and soul she has. Many women like to push the timetable. It is up to us to push back. There are plenty of very good women here. Take your time finding one, and keep your standards high. You owe that to yourself. If it is good, time will reveal that. If there are issues, they will be revealed over time. Time is your ally. Use it wisely.
  22. OK. You made your point and your hatred of the US is clear. Let's talk in 15 years, and see how you feel about the dominance and oppression of the CCP, in your life. My guess is they will be far worse. So far, they are not wearing their power lightly.
  23. I don't like them. At all. I disagree with alot of US foreign policy. But, can you equate this with the Uigher concentration camps?
  24. Isn't that where they make the Cuban processed ham?
  25. Thanks. Nice to know there are still some warriors out there. Just saying "take all my information, and do whatever you want with it" to the govt. is tantamount to giving into an Orwellian system. I don't want big brother snooping into every transaction I make. No thank you. No way.
