Drunk French tourist crashes into Patong cop, arrested on the spot
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The general rule of thumb is that you never, ever crash into a cop under any circumstances. It's just beyond dumb, and it tends to really piss them off. -
Deflection. First of all, the RTP at it's inception seems to have been created with a status quo from the government. We will NOT pay you a living wage, but you have a franchise, and the limit of your income is based solely on your own creativity and initiative, and you will always be protected. Is that not the case? So, even if this clown was sincere, which of course he is not, where would you begin to change that culture? You know where? You would double all salaries. And invest in modern equipment, forensic labs and an effective highway patrol. Probably a trillion baht to start. And even when caught, how many are charged and convicted? Your honor, I am RTP. You and I both know I am above the law, and protected at every level. They even told us that in the academy. That is all the evidence I need. The person making the complaint is just a citizen. They don't count. You know that. I know that. The RTP are superior to citizens. We have the power and you are sworn to protect us. So, drop the charges and let me get on with my franchise.

Trump's Trade War to Raise Prices on a Wide Range of Products
spidermike007 replied to bannork's topic in Political Soapbox
It is a lot easier to make money by stealing it then it is by earning it. -
I do admire Rowling, she certainly is outspoken and even as a Democrat I tend to agree with a lot of what she has to say. I think cancel culture is disgusting, and I think political correctness is truly horrific. So are the titles we are forced to use. Just say what you think and say what you feel, and if people get offended, so what? I also totally understand what Cleese is saying. As a comedian how can you be told that you have to limit your brand of comedy, because some might be offended. Comedy is meant to offend! It's completely ridiculous, it's completely demeaning, and can imagine it is quite demoralizing. Yikes. Just say no to the Karens of this world.

EU Vows Strong Response to Trump’s Tariff Threats
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Good. The US deserves to be punished and taken to task for its stupidity. As far as I'm concerned one of the most dangerous, reckless, and poorly thought out policies that Trump has proposed, are even higher tariffs on many classes of imported products. Who ends up paying for this? American companies who are manufacturing in China, and the consumer, that's who. In the end huge taxes may encourage companies too pull out of China, which is a good thing, but how long will that process take, and what will the economic consequences be in the interim? If he enacts his import tariffs as promised it could spell disaster for the American economy. It is nothing but a massive tax hike on the American people, and could have a very negative impact on thousands of American companies that manufacturer overseas, without any true understanding of why they manufacture overseas. Trump manufactures overseas, every opportunity he gets, to save money. Bibles, baseball caps, and likely countless other things. So, calling him very disingenuous would be an understatement. He is a failed capitalist. It is fairly easy to get wealthy if you are willing to steal most of your fortune from unsuspecting small contractors. Yet he still went bankrupt. That requires a special kind of skill. Or a great deal of talent when it comes to grifting. His tax hike proposals would end up being a disaster. If they were highly targeted tariffs, only imposed upon goods other states were subsidizing, making it impossible to compete, that makes sense and would be good policy. But, blanket tariffs end up being punitive for the American consumer and American companies forced to operate overseas due to the silly costs of manufacturing in the US. They are a tax hike. Trump lies when he says other nations will pay for them. He lies when he says companies will pay for them. Consumers will pay, so it becomes a tax. Be bold, big Don and for once be honest. It is a tax hike. And it could slow down the economy and result in a massive loss of jobs, and major inflation. Very dumb policy. -
Considering the hooliganism that goes on here with regard to voting, vote buying, overturned elections, and a complete and total denial of the democratic process, one can certainly understand why the public might be apathetic.

Imagine? No bombs, no military...
spidermike007 replied to 1FinickyOne's topic in Off the beaten track
Fortunately you are not correct in that assessment, the population of the planet will decline, it's already declining in many countries and if it weren't for the Muslim nations it would be declining dramatically. Many people who possess wisdom realize that this is just not a good time to be bringing babies into this world, more of them are just not necessary. If you look at the curves birth rates are falling all over the world, except in Africa, the forlorn continent. Falling in China, Thailand, Japan, etc. Some are predicting China's population to fall to 650 million within 50 years, the crisis is that bad. I don't call it a crisis. I think it's a huge blessing. There is nothing that could possibly be more positive for the future of Thailand, and the world, than a seriously declining birth rate. It's something that we need drastically. The last thing in the world this planet needs right now is an expanding population. Of course there will be challenges that will accompany a declining population, and those that support an ever expanding GDP will argue that a declining population is not sustainable. I would argue the exact opposite. https://www.france24.com/en/tv-shows/the-51/20220121-global-decline-in-birth-rates-should-we-worry Japan's population is projected to fall from a peak of 128 million in 2017 to less than 53 million by the end of the century. Italy is expected to see an equally dramatic population crash from 61 million to 28 million over the same timeframe. They are two of 23 countries - which also include Spain, Portugal, Thailand and South Korea - expected to see their population more than halve. Hooray!!! https://www.bbc.com/news/health-53409521 -

They're your post is admirable for its level of idealism, I can't help but wonder what is the connection between not having a military and not having cancer nor pain? Could you please explain that to us? I'm sure many of us are mystified by that comment. It would truly be an extraordinary thing if armies were not needed, there are certain countries where you could make an argument they're more needed than in others. It's very easy to make an argument that they're not needed in Thailand, nor are they wanted, or desired, nor do they do anything whatsoever for the general well-being of the public. They just suck huge amounts of gold from the treasury and offer very little in return. I think the appropriate term would be dead weight. -

I think if nothing else human beings on earth are proof that there is a lot of intelligent life out there in the universe. If we were the only relatively advanced species think of how pathetic the universe would be, think of how incredible a waste of space it would be. We prove that there are countless intelligent civilizations out there far more advanced than we are. It can't be otherwise. I also believe that we are devolving as a species, I think we are no longer advancing and perhaps over the last 20 years we have started to move backwards. Social media is a large part of that, and it is perhaps the most toxic force in contemporary culture today. -
Let us hope they find him track him down and charge him with something very serious like reckless endangerment or perhaps even attempted murder. It was certainly not premeditated, but a fast moving motorcycle is very similar to a missile and one needs to exercise great caution when driving. Which this absolute imbecile very obviously wasn't doing.

These tourists do have a good point, it is sometimes very difficult to find a public urinal and it doesn't make sense to have to buy a cup of coffee just to use the bathroom. The same applies to garbage bins. Thailand instead of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their ridiculous advertising campaigns needs to invest just a few million in some public urinals and garbage bins. You can't have too many garbage bins! There are likely fewer garbage bins per capita in Thailand than most African nations.

Trump's Trade War to Raise Prices on a Wide Range of Products
spidermike007 replied to bannork's topic in Political Soapbox
People forget, as they rebuild his legacy, forget his criminal past, and continue to glorify this creep. 17 of his businesses have failed in the past few decades. Some at huge losses. Trump Steaks, Trump Shuttle Airline ($120 million in losses between 1988 and 1990), GoTrump, Trump Vodka, Trump Mortgage, Trump University, Trump Ice, The New Jersey Generals, Tour de Trump, Trump Network, Trump Magazine, Trumped!. Many businesses that licensed his name went bankrupt, or went out of business. And he had between four and six major bankruptcies (depending on the source), including the Trump Taj Mahal (which he spent $1.2 billion building, and was $3 billion in debt within a year of opening), Trump's Castle, Trump Place Hotel (which was very successful prior to Trump buying it in 1988, and he managed to put it into $550 million in debt by 1992!), Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts ($1.8 billion in debt by 2004, bankrupt in 2009) , and Trump Entertainment Resorts. There are likely others. And this does not take into account the 3,600 lawsuits he was involved in as of the time he took office last time around, the vast majority of which were filed by small contractors against his companies for non payment, or total default. Many of these contractors were crushed. It is part of his M.O. -
Maher is absolutely correct to describe China as an evil empire, there is no doubt that they have nothing but heinous intentions. What has China done for the world in the past 20 years, sure they've lent a lot of money to make sure that nations with resources become indebted to them, but what have they really done to make the world a better place?

Thai PM Unveils Policies and Achievements in First TV Address
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This non elected official has really accomplished very little. She was however successful at helping to turn a democratically elected man, who would have been potentially great at helping Thailand move toward a promising future, into a scapegoat, allowing her party to assume power. She was not elected. Never forget. Never forgive her family and their malicious and greedy power grab. -
Anutin's PM Prospects Rise as Bhumjaithai Gains Ground
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Let us hope something this dreadful never happens to this country, the man is severely incompetent, and he's the last person in the world that should be leading this nation. If he did assume power he would set Thailand back two decades, as he is a major dinosaur and he knows nothing about progress or what's good for the nation or the Thai people. This terrible man worships only the golden calf of the Thai baht. -
British man’s Thailand trip goes from heaven to prison hell (video)
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They're certainly could be more to the story there's really no way to know at this point, it is all entirely plausible though not probable. The part about the police is totally possible, especially in Pattaya. They are some of the most greedy cops in the country. The part of the landlord sounds extreme but it also sounds possible, he certainly should have had all his valuables locked up, if nothing else locked up in his suitcase, in which case either the police or the landlord would have had a steal or destroy his suitcase to get to any of his valuables. if it were me and this actually happened I would be looking for major retribution against the Airbnb host, and would be looking to raise as much stink as possible online and in the media at home, as he has done. -

I would have voted for Miley Cyrus or Pauly Shore over Trump, anyone but Trump. My lifetime of dislike of a criminal scam artist seems to offend you. You just can't help it you're absolutely compelled to reply every time I say something negative about him. I think you have Democrat derangement syndrome. -

I like the idea of punishing the Chinese government just as much as the next guy but I don't like the idea of punishing American consumers in the process, and devastating the US economy, which is exactly what big boy is doing. The problem is he's just simply not smart enough to understand that, and he's appointed bottom of the barrel, garbage advisors, so nobody in the room is bright enough to figure any of this stuff out. -
As usual you are jumping to a lot of conclusions. I don't support DEI, I don't support the rights of trans, especially when it comes to sports and locker rooms, and I don't support an unlimited number of illegals coming across the border. You somehow think that Trump is the only one capable of stopping these things I do not believe that for a nanosecond.
