Cmos gets stuck looking for boot device and cannot open cmos settings or boot menu

You shouldn't need a boot device to open the BIOS/UEFI controls. When you boot your device, continually tap on F2 (different for devices, look up your model in google if you have access to another computer) and that should take you to the controls.

Could also try F10 or F12 on boot to open the one time boot options.

Tourists will be housed at one of five hotels that have been approved as part of the Alternative Local State Quarantine plan.

There are 300+ rooms available in Chonburi, Phuket and Buriram.

One more place is currently under consideration to house the tourists.

Which is fine at this stage. But how much future planning has been put in place if these small number groups prove to be successful and they expand the numbers of people arriving?

How many Quarantine standards will be lowered/corners cut when more hotels are required to accommodate the tourists as numbers increase?

I am all for opening up the tourism sector, as long as it is done in a safe way. Call me a pessimist if you want but I can see this ending in tears when the shortcuts start happening. Whenever the government has the ear of TAT and believe their predictions reference numbers and potential revenue, and not following advice from their medical experts then the holes in the plans will widen.

IMO, they (government) need to evaluate what is happening in the rest of the world as the numbers if the infected continue to rise, and not just the source countries they have decided to chose for their experiments.

  3. They do realize that in the real world companies commit themselves to deliver on time/perform services to a timeline?

The creation of these holidays, to appease the tourism sector (for that reason alone), can potentially cause untold problems to industry. Perhaps they should try to run a company and be ready to pay double time to those who are already committed. In certain cases, companies who have maintenance crews out all over the country will not be able to do their jobs until the 'customer' returns to work after their holiday. As an example.

    Crazy, irresponsible thought process IMO.

Hey, are you from a planet that do not understand so well?

Ok, have the key first, and install after or install first and activate with the key later. What´s the difference? You do not need a key in both cases.

Did you have an AA-grade in Semantics in school?

Still not sure what the fixation is on W7. See post #18 on this thread.

A vendor installed W10 home single language on his machine and he wants to upgrade to W10 pro.

  5. I'm a bit confused with the references to windows 7 where the aim of the OP is to upgrade from W10 home to pro.

Windows 10 can be downloaded from Microsoft using the Windows 10 (2004) creation tool in ISO format or, installed onto a USB drive and then clean installed onto the machine. the ISO contains all versions of W10. Link is:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

For installation you don't need a windows key. As others have mentioned you can purchase a key from many sources on the internet (including Lazada if you are in Thailand) prior to your upgrade (just make sure it corresponds to the flavour you are installing). While I understand that this is in the 'grey zone', as long as you aren't using this in a business environment you will be OK. IMO.

OP, I'm guessing that the key used last time on your machine was either Enterprise or VLK with an expiry of either 120 or 180 days. Again, IMO, if that is the case, it is much better to do a clean install and not upgrade, even with a new key, as I'm not sure how the VLK (volume limited key) or Enterprise key already installed would react.

I am confused, I always thought there was a law governing the number of animals (Cats or Dogs) that can be kept within the confines of a house or condo.  In addition don't they have to be registered? it all sounds a little strange.

Where do you register your dog in Thailand? I have had dogs in Thailand for the last 20 years or so and never found the answer to this.

  7. Sort of interested in what charges will be brought against the hair salon owner.

After all it should be her that is charged for being open & taking appointments when it wasn't allowed. Yes, I do understand the embarrassment factor for Nancy will take the limelight, but breaking the law is breaking the law.

Does seem like an odd action/risk to take by the owner if it was indeed a 'setup'.

    IMO

Even though the two complainants are the daughters of the Prime Minister, he said police will treat the complaint like any other.

It is good to see that these high profile cases are handled like any other. However, if a panel is formed for each and every case submitted, I would assume that is a lot of employment if investigative panels aren't already in place...............

Pol Maj-Gen Samroeng Suanthong, commander of Metropolitan Police’s First Division, who accepted the complaint today, said he would form a panel to investigate the case, noting that it is a matter of public interest.

Because it is of public interest, that already means it won't be handled like any other.

  9. When was the last time a COVID infection was detected at a land immigration crossing? Or rather reported?

does this mean there is no infection within adjoining country's labour forces for people crossing Thailand's borders?

What preventative/detection methods are being used on the labourers?

IMO, without addressing the above issues, setting up pilot schemes to get tourist numbers back doesn't mean a thing towards the well-being of the Thai population; the tourist entry procedures will become focal in the media, while the crossing of labourers from neighbouring countries (constituting a much larger threat as they spread throughout the country practically unhindered) will just happen anyway.

  10. Such confliction of information in this article to what is being stated in other publications.

But even if the facts are correct, it is not the whole story. It has now been accepted that children from the age of 12(?) can spread the virus the same as adults, if not faster. What happens if the children do get infected (which is sure to happen, just look at the American situation at present) and spread that infection into their home environments?

What risk are the teachers and school staff being put under? Not really a feasible option of opening schools with the teachers being ill or under quarantine. Talking of quarantine, what procedure is in place on detecting one infected pupil? How many other people will be affected by quarantine measures, pupils and teachers, through that detection.

I'm all for education and the need for it in this world we have created for ourselves. But, IMO, if put against health there should be no reason why education (face to face) shouldn't be put on the back burner until the British government at least agrees with the science.

Joe the wording is specific in the extract you posted.

Evidence from the month of retirement.

Unfortunately the example provided is for retirement date 2 month prior to application.

The example cannot be taken as implying only 2 months is required as this would conflict with the actual criteria specified ( from month of retirement ).

If a person arrives in Thailand armed with a non-o visa with the intention of applying for an annual extension for either retirement or marriage reasons, does this mean that immigration won't grant the extension for at least a year if applied for during the last 30 days of the non-o? In other words, a person needs to plan for at least a year before applying?

I can understand an IO's interpretation of previously issued O-A or multi-entry non-os, but if the person applying for the annual extension's history was of visa exempt or tourist visas would that still apply, a one year planning period?

Just interested on your view of that and how immigration would logically deal with that.

  12. I would certainly get a second opinion on the mainboard/CPU failure you have been given. I have a Yoga, about 3 years old now and that came as standard with an NVMe M.2 SSD, I think it was 256GB(?). You stated earlier that you ran defrag on your drive; generally this is not recommended for SSDs and there is a possibility that de-fragging has upset the SSDs structure. If you have the resources you could try changing the SSD board out (or ask a computer shop if they have a spare one lying about) and see if you get a boot. Alternatively, remove the drive and test on another machine using an adapter

The same would go for the RAM; first try cleaning the contacts and re-seat or remove and try another RAM board. Also have the power supply checked. If the mainboard is indeed fried then almost certainly something power related has happened.

That said, you would expect a repair shop to have done all that already. The Yoga is a sweet little machine, IMO, worth taking the extra steps before writing it off completely.
