Hi Guys,
Just wondering if any divers go shore diving around the Pattaya, Jomtien, Sattahip areas or anywhere down the coast of the Eastern seaboard?
If yes where would you recommend the best spots are to dive from the shore and at what time of year?

Hi All,
I would like to purchase 2 x Sola SF 2100 Video lights and 2 flexible arms for my Backscatter tray GoPro combination from the company called "Light and Motion"
I have tried emailing the company in the US but have not received any replies to my enquiry of who the distributor is in Thailand and their website is not much help either.
http://www.lightandmotion.com/the-perfect-light/under-water/video-diving
Can anybody please inform me who the Light and Motion video dive light distributor is in Thailand?
Much appreciated if any answers?
best regards,

Well, people eat shark meat. What are they supposed to do with the fins? Let them rot so you can feel good? That computer/phone/tablet you wrote that post with is worse for the environment than eating shark fin soup.
Sorry sdanielmcev it is the other way round, Shark fins are eaten and the shark meat is discarded, this cruel procurement is called shark finning where fishermen cut the fins off the sharks then throw them back in the sea alive for them to drown.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0p_LdfgmxQ

Hi All,
I have a Apple Macbook Pro and recently updated to OS X Yosemite and now my bluetooth doesn't work?
The net is awash with people complaining about the same problem, however no one seems to offer a concrete solution to the problem and Apple are just keeping quite.
One option offered was to uninstall Yosemite and re-install Mavericks but this process looks way beyond me and i am afraid if i attempt it i will lose data and cause some damage.
Anybody know what the simple solution is to get my bluetooth working again?
Many thanks.

Thank you everyone for you advice and replies. I have been working with a company Pattaya Marine Aquatics as recommended on this forum. So far I am very happy, I have found them extremely responsive to my questions and to be very knowledgeable about their products as well as what would be a proper set-up for my specific tank. The expectation is that the system will be installed by the middle of next month as it's custom designed and built by them. I look forward to being able to post photos and further reviews of their service soon. However, so far I would have to rate them 5 stars out of 5 stars. I have also opted for their premium service package so that the tank is always maintained when I am out of the country.
Again thank you members of ThaiVisa for all of your advice, I will keep you posted on progress.

Can you guarantee where the fish in your aquarium is harvested from?

To the original poster,
You wrote "I am looking for a good supply of salt water fish"
You and others like you who like pretty aquariums are supporting the rape of coral fish from the sea and upsetting the balance of nature.
You may not be aware that 1 fish that actually makes it alive to your tank another 9 fish die before they make it to your tank.
So if you have 10 fish in your tank 90 fish have died to support your vanity project.

http://www.seashepherd.org/reef-defense/aquarium-trade.html
Some coral reef fish species are becoming so rare around the Pattaya/Jomtien/Sattahip/Rayong region because of "harvesting" for the aquarium trade for example Clownfish species of the famous Nemo cartoon movie have largely disappeared and are now having to be bred in captivity, ironically in aquariums and then re-introduced back into the sea.
You can snorkel or go scuba diving and see plenty of sea anemones with which under normal conditions Clownfish have a symbiotic relationship with but the majority of the time all you see is sea anemones on their own because the Clownfish have been captured.
If you have a conscience please do not take up aquarium exhibits as a hobby as you are doing untold damage to marine ecosystems.
I think we do live a bit in the past here
The aquarium trade has evolved alot over the past few years being scrutenized and being regulated to the max since a few years. I am sure whatever happened in the past was bad and maybe even still today but in much smaller scale as what you like to portray.
Wild catching of Aquarium fish is almost eradicated as it only practise for some rarer fishes as the most common fishes found in the every day saltwater aquarium are now all farmed fish just due to economic reasons as farms have beens et up many years back and in full swing now it is almost impossable for wild caught fish to compete with the dump prices on the market for farmed fish.
So again rare fishes which you will not find in the every day hobbyist aquarium might still be wild caught the top selling fishes nowedays are all farm bred.
many of those farms are even providing back to naure setting out large new populations back into the oceans re populating throughout the world.
The real killer of reef throughout the world is the warming of the oceans resulting in the distrcution of entire fields of reef throughout the world and destroying the habitat for many reef fishes in those areas.
So see what I said in the beginning of my comments is that what happened in the trade was bad but has improved alot though the polutor in US (yes YOU and ME) have not improved and has gotten only worse throughout the years so instead of pointing fingers one should start to check his own life and start with improving this world from within himself and not tell others what to do so you can buy a new car or many new cheap Chinese products manufactored in factories with no environmental regulations and restrictions right?
and please dont come with articles as for every one you find on the net on how bad the trade is as i can find you (or i am sure you know how to find them yourself) one articles about massive farms re introducing species back into the Oceans throughout this world.
Re-introduction of coral reef fish is taking place for a reason and the reason is the fish are still being captured...various places around Thailand have reintroduction projects because of poaching that continues every day.

AFAIK only aluminium tanks for sale here.
...are you 100% positive that steel tanks cannot be purchased in Bangkok or Pattaya?
If your answer is yes, what is the reason aluminium tanks are only available?
-
Hi Guys,
As the title says where can you buy steel Scuba diving tanks in either Pattaya or Bangkok?

If they want to cut down on consumption, adjust aircon settings in govt offices, banks etc. Far too cold.
I agree, however because Human beings have different metabolisms so peoples comfort level is different that is why their is never 1 temperature setpoint on your air conditioning controller.

The Black Swan- although I've found the morning staff to be a bit miserable and not really friendly.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Black Swan also gets my vote...never had any problems with miserable staff though, always friendly to me.

Where was it bound for ,Makro, they seem to have
plenty in stock.
regards Worgeordie
Was at Tops today and saw CP brand shark fin microwave type meals.
I will not shop at Makro cash and carry purely because they have fresh caught shark and coral fish species on their fishmongers slab and sell preserved shark fin products.
The attached photo is of Parrot fish at a Makro...disgusting to see!
If you have a conscience about protecting precious marine animals boycott Makro and hit them where it hurts, in their profits.
So you shop at Tesco Lotus and Big-C instead, mai na?
No i don't.

Thai Airways bans shark fin from cargo flights
BANGKOK, July 30, 2014 (AFP) - Thai Airways has banned shark fin from its cargo flights as part of a growing global campaign against the popular delicacy in Asia.
The carrier joins a host of other airlines in taking a stand against shark fin, highly prized by many in the region, especially in Hong Kong and China where it is commonly served as a soup at wedding banquets and corporate parties.
"As part of the world community sharing in the great concern for the protection of endangered species and the environment, Thai Airways International has implemented its own official policy to place an embargo on the shipping of shark fin products," the airline said in a statement Tuesday.
Conservationists say booming demand for fins has put pressure on the world's shark populations, prompting calls for measures to restrict their trade.
Thai Airways officially stopped flying shark fin from 15 July but has avoided shipping fins for over a year, according to the statement.
The move brings the carrier into line with a number of other Asian airlines including Philippine Airlines, which said in April it had stopped flying shark fin cargoes.
Air New Zealand as well as South Korea's two largest airlines, Korean Air and Asiana, separately announced last year that they would ban shark fins from their cargo flights, a year after Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific also stopped shipping them.

Fantastic news and congratulations to Thai Airways, well done (-:
Please just make sure you enforce the ban on shark fins.
