Thai Police

You purposely drove through a red light, did you not think of the possible accident that you could have caused by doing such an act. You are the one at fault here not the Police
He admits that... so you can jump off that high horse of yours and recognise the message in the OP.... I'm pretty sure the Junction was clearly visible and open, sufficiently enough for the Op to drive through safety without any other traffic around. One of the reasons perhaps why the BiB didn't care.
Many of the issues concerning Thailands traffic are not the laws themselves, which for the most part are perfectly adequate... The major issue is the apathy involved with enforcing those laws.
For what ever reasons, and there may be a multitude of reasons ranging from plain laziness, to the fact that the lower ranks don't ever act independently or proactively for risk of reprimand from a senior.... the BiB in Thailand simply do no act on the laws.
There is no proactive culture in the Thai Police force, everything they do is reactive and for the most part their actions are based around securing monetary income.
Given that their pay is so low its hardly surprising that this is the current 'status quo' in Thailand's police culture.
What is the fix????
- Securing taxes so that the government have a greater budget for the critical Services: Police, Fire and Hospitals (ambulance), Military.
- Increasing BiB salaries and intruding honour (somehow), less incentive for corruption
- Stornger pentalites for those who abuse the system (internal Affairs Police)
- Cut the numbers of the Police force which is somewhat bloated - at the moment its simply job creation on very low salaries (almost social welfare on its own)
I am not on my high horse, just a poor inocent motorcyclist who has been knocked off his bike previously my some <deleted> jumping a red light

So you were using the income method for your extension?
No 800,000 in the Bank, but the form is 90% asking about income information, at the bottom of the form there are a few questions for bank account, Bank address, account number and amount in the account.

Did my annual renewal of my extension of stay based on retirement and multiple re entry visa yesterday at Khon Kean immmigration office. Had to complete an extra two forms, one was written in Thai and one in English. Both straight forward, the one in English was just asking a few more questions about the type of income and the one in Thai was to the Chief Immigration Officer in Khon Kean asking for an extension of stay. The immigration Officer was very helpful and assisted me to complete the extra forms. Arrived at 08:30 and all completed by 09:00. That is my 5 renewal at Khon Kean, all without any problems and always with a polite and helpful assistance from the Immigration Officers.

I was there last week, stayed at Radisson suites in BKK and booked a tour through the hotel, River Kwai, Elephant Riding and Tiger Temple. Pick up at the hotel was 06:20 and arrived back at the hotel at 19:30.

Yes they required the old passport and the form transfer stamp to new passport. I also went prepared with copies of the relevent pages from my old passport (signed by me).

Renewed my passport on a recent visit outside of Thailand. Went to Khon Kaen immigration office yesterday morning to transfer my extension of stay stamp and multiply re entry visa. Very good service, in and out within 20 minutes and no letter requested from British Consulate confirming passport issue.

I have had an Almera for a couple of years now. And my expelrience has been trouble free. The back seat is huge, gas economy is good and it is good for driving around the narrow streets. It is also conservative looking enough to blend in with the traffic.
I don't care for the system where it shuts off every time one comes to a stop, but there is an override button that I push as a matter of habit everytime I start the car, which fixes that.
It often hauls a back seat full of family members or bags of soil and plants from the nursery with no problem, although I would not recommend pulling out in front of highway traffic that are headed your direction at full speed because it does take some time to get up to speed. However, it has no problem maintaining that speed.
Overall, I like the car and have no second thoughts.
take a look at the Toyota Aris eco model, sporty looking and very good on the consumption, bought the misses one in January and well pleased with it

Hopefully we are here only talking about a local change which Udon Thani have recently introduced with presumably the sole and avowed aim of causing the maximum inconvenience and hassle to their retiree punters (which will, of course, enable the officers there to rub their hands in ecstatic glee at all the disruption that they are now able to cause).
But this thread makes disturbing reading if it turns out that we are, in fact, talking about a fundamental procedural change in the processing of retirement extensions, which is not in the rule book, is shrouded in secrecy and will very shortly be adopted at all immigration offices across LOS.
Perhaps the OP could clarify how long in advance of the expiry of his previous extension of stay he applied for his renewal today. If more than 7 days, it is clearly absurd that he has now only been stamped in until a date before his previous extension was due to expire! That said TIT of course.
I renewed my extension of stay based on retirement at the Khon Kaen Immigration Office on the 9th September. In and out within 30 minutes and that includeed applying for a multiply re entry visa
