  1. The focus was due to the camera phone and sticking it in the box. Got my good digital cam at the office and took some better photos. He's in remarkably good shape and not the slightest bit concerned about those humans running about. :)

Good job Tywaise, well done, fingers crossed that it continues to recover back to full health and a long and happy life

  2. I treated myself to a Garnim (from the guy in Pattaya) for Christmas... I have used it around our little area (Kalasin) and considered it mostly a "Big Boy Toy"....

Took my first long trip last week when I drove from Kalasin to Pattaya, and all I can say is "Thank You Santa".... Worked Great, made the trip very easy, even when I did not listen to it and took a couple of wrong turns, it / she got me right back on track and without calling me an "Idiot" or giving me "That Look" that the Thai wife always uses...

    Pianoman

I know what you mean Pianoman. My wife get most annoyed if I listen to the 'Mio noi' in a box :D

I believe Garmin are more user friendly than other '2nd wifes in a box'

    :)

First time that I used it returning from the Market to Home, my Thai wife was almost Upset, wanting to know "How Lady know where you live?"... I almost feel out of the truck laughing... Now she accepts that the "Lady" knows more than either of us when it comes to the roads....

    Nice one Pianoman

  3. I heard Tesco were now selling a basic Garmin Nuvi model for under B5000, but that they often don't have stock. You can change the language via the menu system. Take a look at the GPS sub-forum which has old threads on best maps etc.

    Thank you for the info

  4. Garmin seem to be the market leaders over here and English voice/maps are available. I have a Mio unit and its good

Thank you for the info Dave, I will see if I can find a Mio in KK

  5. Maybe Tukcom, or maybe Central Plaza.

Also saw them in big C.

When I looked at one in CP it sported the English language, well, kind of.

    Thank you for the information

  6. Is it possible to buy English langauge Sat Nav in Khon Kaen for a car, and if so any recommendations for Make and model. I have never used a one before and do not know a lot about them

    Cheers

  7. Rachawadee resort is the best choice for anyone who does not mind being out of town a little and has a car. Nice rooms, swimming pool and restaurant.

stayed there once and agree, nice friendly staff, also ate there several times, I usually arrive in KK on the last flight from BK and I always stop off at the Rachawadee for dinner before my drive home back to Phon, good food at a reasonable price

  8. Great pics from start to finish... and I"m a critical little bastard at the best of times.

Thanks guys. I'm using a Nikon D5000. I switch between a 200mm zoom and a, well, I'm drawing a complete blank on what my wide angle is....drat...this will bug me till I get home. I keep a UV filter on it and hold my breathe for the slow shots. Brighten and sharpen with Photoshop and voila!

Thank you for the info, I am thinking of investing in a new camera, I will definately take a closer look at the Nikon D5000
