  1. I have a DTracker and I'd like to upgrade at the next oil change but Kawasaki BKK only sells semi/blended oil.

    I don't have a car.

Do those B-Quik service stations sell any?

I figure Chinatown must have it somewhere but that place is a maze and zoo mixed into one.

So does anyone know specifically where I can get this Delvac or any other 100% synthetic oil in BKK?

Several of the bike shops there sell the Motul oil, and would think that with all the auto places, you should be able to find Delvac easy enough. Red Baron has the motul....

  2. So the lessons of this story are what ?

Pay for the house as it is being built, pay for the materials yourself buying as and when needed and never pay too much up front if anything ?

The reason I started this thread to warn other farangs of a crook. so others would not make the same mistake as myself.

  3. First contact your bank.... every bank will be somewhat different. At my bank, I filled out a set of forms for what they call a repetitive wire transfer. this allows me to have a constant way to transfer funds here. Now that is done, all I do is call them, give them a special code, the amount I want to transfer and wham, it is done the next business day.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but you must see what your bank rules are.

  4. well, went to court today, what a joke.. they came in and offered 100K for a 700k bill, told them to take a hike, his lawyer saying will drag their feet for 5 years, I said don't care, then our lawyer told Palm to take the deal, told him to f&^k off. well the judge was a different judge than we seen before, feel they had it moved to someone they knew, he talked a deal before court, saying he would think that he would only award 200-300K and it would take years to get, that we should settle for 200K. they wanted to give us 50K in 30 days and 20 K per month until paid, judge and lawyer thought it was a good deal, told them to f#$k off. I paid all the money up front, he spent it on his own house and what ever, he can borrow the money. was told could not garnish his wages cause cant garnish government people wages, so we settled for 200K, 100K paid by end of month and has 3 months from today to pay other 100K. contract was written, I had put in that if he miss payment even by 1 day, that he then defaults for the full 700K, and would not have to return to court for ruling and he put his house and cars up that I can take. better than nothing, but his day will come, the scum, and the judge was clearly siding with him but at least knew he was wrong....... Issan justice......

I only agree to this because of my wife, it was hard for her to stand her ground when lawyer and judge was not on her side.

  5. That lift is a US product. You'll have some problems with customs, getting it into Thailand. Also getting it shipped to Thailand would be another. It's far from being a small package. Then finding a Thai to install it would be another. They wouldn't be able to read the English installation instructions.

Considering the costs and other problems, doesn't seem to be practical. It's far easier to get some Thais to help load the bike in the back of the pickup using a ramp.

After all I haven't seen many Gold Wings in Thailand. Yeah, I seen big choppers and sometimes I seen bikes loaded into bigger trucks using a jimmy lift.

Very true, you would have to have it made here.....

  6. I am looking for someone that can do a custom paint job like what was posted. I have been going back through old posts, and thus why I am replying to this post.

I am in Pattaya, and if anyone reads this, and knows who can do this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Go and talk to VS Motors there. Samart is the owner and has a paint guy that is really good. he has a website any questions just PM me. He painted my bike and am very happy with results.

  7. You can get a lot of car for $20,000 in the states and even 14,000 pounds in the UK buys you a lot of car nowadays.

The point I was trying to make is that if you compare the price of the top model Fiesta in the EU/USA/UK/Aus to the top model Yaris/Jazz/City in the same market then work out the difference as a %, then apply that % to Thai prices of the same, you'll find that the local pricing for Fiesta is sharp. :"Compare it to relative prices abroad" seemed a much faster way to say it ;)

In relation to whats available here its against the Mazda 2 (same car probably) and toyota's and honda's offerings at the same price, brand loyalty will lie with the japanese manufacturers there I think.

While there is still technology sharing between Ford and Mazda, in the case of Fiesta and Mazda2, the similarities start and end at the floorpan.

Agreed RE: brand loyalty, but there's another factor that can't be overlooked....

Thai motoring journalists must write accurately and fairly about the car, lest be totally discredited amongst their global peers. That means that Somchai average will be getting a face-full of positive press on the car, and the power of the media is not to be underestimated. If Ford Thailand can get their dealership network into shape quickly enough, and work hard on delivering good customer service, and wrap up some attractive financing plans, they will be well positioned to take the top spot in Thailand's 2nd Tier. (Tier 1 being Toyota and Honda).

While it would be unprecedented to improve overall market position by that much with a single model, with the Fiesta it's doable, if handled correctly. And if they do, they'll be well positioned to even take on Tier one when the new Focus, Mondeo and Ranger release in 2012.

I don't agree on pricing as you explain. I brought a focus a few months back, and they quickly took 100K off the sticker price and still gave me all the "freebee's" and if the car is made here in thailand, no import tax, and cost here are so much cheaper..... price should be lower IMO

  8. Well..living here and riding a big bike. here are my thoughts

With no Thai language, hope you can eat anything.... learn a few words for tor the food you like. I would travel in Nov -Dec not much rain, cooler weather. Drive only during daylight, and learn to drive on the shoulder of the road. All the major towns in Issan are nice to visit. Staying is tough, unless you stay at the larger citiies. Not anything specila to carry in your bag, maks sure you have good medical insurance.

Issan is a nice area to visit, and many things to see. But you will be tired on the scooter. On my big bike Pattaya to Surin is 7 hours it will take you much longer so figure a 2 day trip if that is where you are going. It will be a good one day trip to get to Korat. From there you can go to Buriram/Surin area or to Khon Khen area.

Get a map, plan your trip out and have fun..

  9. There is a tool shop behind the mall. It is on the corner, has lawnmowers and compressers out front. Talk with owner, nice man, speaks english. can get in 2-3 days. If want to meet and I show you let me know by PM.

  10. post-78077-1273487595_thumb.jpgpost-78077-1273487608_thumb.jpg

Here is a base cabinet I picked up here in Surin. Price was right at 8K baht. very nice, drawers have ball bearing slides, and drawer liners. Have ordered a top box at about 4K baht. best price in Thailand for sure.

  11. I too am interested in a Tool cabinet, the ones ive seen here are extremely expensive..

Wildoates, do you have a link to these cabinets your thinking of importing, I might be interested in one as well, If so the logistics dept here at work may be able to help with the import.

Here is what they sent me back, the 1194 is the one I got a quote on. It was 298USD each (said I was buying 2) and shipping to Bangkok Port was 80USD for both, and shipping time was 3 days.

If you want we can work on getting more, shipping is cheap, just don't know what happens at this end here.

Color options: Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green.

    Ball-bearing slides on each drawers

  13. Does anyone know the process of getting items from China. Looking at some tool cabinets and Price is OK and shipping to Bangkok Port is cheap. But then what?? Does anyone know what is envolved in picking up this shipment? Is there duty to pay? If so How much? Where would I go to get them? ect. Shipment door to door is just out of the question, cost is over the top. Port is $80USD door to door is $600USD. Thanks in advance for advice.
