  1. Regarding doner kebabs I've never seen one in Bangkok used to have one in Samui but it was pony. Decent shish kebabs here though. Maybe you should search for one of those instead. :)

And yes I hate to admit it but if you keep playing like yesterday Portsmouth are in for a hammering. :D

  2. Men's head is nothing to Thai women.

It is the love, caring, passion, understanding & kindness that counts.

Please don't forget the money, which is ofcourse No 1 :D

That is true... just as it's true for 90% of all other women throughout the world. It's always been about the man who can adequately provide for his family, and most often that means having enough money. That is why many women become airline hostesses... to meet pilots. Or, women who take up nursing because that is where they might meet doctors. Or, where women become teachers so they can meet male teachers who have a profession. Etc, etc, etc.

:) You are on rocky ground here ian! Please explain what you were thinking when you wrote this. I find it hard to believe you actually believe what you are saying.

He's saying women are after your fortune carmine not your shiny bald spot! :D

  3. i get a bottle of bud here in uk for 50 pence - 25 baht , beat that . thailand is not cheap

At home in Scotland I can buy 24 cans of Tennents lager for £5 thats 21 Baht each.

I wouldn't drink it if it was free! Same same for American beer I'm afraid.

    :)

  4. xperience bar, thong lor soi 8. On a friday is free drinks for men from 9pm to 10pm. There is absolutly no catch. Can come at 9 and leave at 10 having paid nothing and drank a fair amount. Should you be with a lady, they get free drinks from 10pm til close.

I suspect this place will be busier than ever on Friday night! :D

    :)

  5. Ban jetskis? Yeah ok right. :)

However these tourists should each be writing strong letters to their tour operator letting them know and demanding action. At least then might see some warnings given to tourists. The whole business is a disgrace.

Same thing happened in Phuket to people I know about a year ago.

36,000thb and they surrounded and held one guy hostage while the ladies had to go to the bank.

Their demands seem to be rising as well. I met a bloke in 2005 who had been hit for 20k Baht. Where will it all end I wonder... :D

  7. Back in March the Bikini Bar in Lamai had a happy hour from 4-7 when I was there in March. Think Chang was 40 baht and Heineken/San Mig 60 baht. Nice chill out atmosphere with reggae and u can watch the beach volleyball game. Good 99 baht brekkie if you arrive before 2PM.

Rich Resort, a short walk from Bikini had a free buffet from 4 to 4:30 on Fridays.

    Bikini Bar....Beach Volleyball....Happy Hour.... :)

  8. Premier Bar in Bangrak has a 99 baht cocktails before 21:00. That include Long Island Ice Tea which are normally around 250 baht. Two or three of those are deadly. I think there are also beer specials but with 99 baht LITs, who needs beer. :)

Indeed and makes a pleasant change. Cheers koheesti! :D

  9. Jp Minimart in Banrak is the place for you and theres a nice table outside to watch the world go by.

I hear the beach is quite nice and relatively hobo friendly too if Rooo's halfway house is full Smokie :):D

Not really a bar as such though carmine. And I do have somewhere to live before any more kind offers appear. :D

Really just wanting an idea of places with special offers on drinks such as the Catcandoo 99 Baht jug of Chang etc.

Any bar any time thanks.... :D

  10. I always found in the hotels there is a sort of swap thingy going on. You give a book you take a book. Don't know if it still goes on.

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Basically the cheaper the better.

    Do you support Tottenham? :)

Actually, i think Island Books in Lamai do in deal whereby if you read and return the book in the calender month you get half your money back. It's something like that, a good deal anyways for people like your good self who are careful around the pound my old mate. Good choice of books aswell. :D

Thanks for that info carmine. I'll look into that and anywhere else offering decent deals?

  11. I was stopped by Customs coming back from India a few years ago and had a couple of extra cartons of ciggies in my bag. When questioned I immediately owned up and the bloke searched my bag in a cursory manner while we had a general chat. I guess really it was small potatoes for him and probably not worth the hassle but he let me through with my extra smokes.

I wonder if he would have done the same for a Thai visitor? More likely he would be angry at a foreigner coming to the UK and breaking the law immediately on arrival. Surely it angers us all when foreigners break our laws so why should the OP expect any preferential treatment? In fact you should expect to be treated harshly by any foreign authorities. :)

  13. They do but from Nathon back to the Seatran ferry may require at least one Song Thaew change since not all of them have Big Buddha or rather Choengmon as final destination.

If the songthaew isn't going to Cheong Mon probably easier to get off at Bophut traffuc lights walk to the entrance to Fisherman's Village and get a bike taxi from there.

  14. Anyway, if it keeps going this way then a holiday in Britain is definitely on the cards. Would love to go and enjoy the cheap beer, a Prem League match, and get re-acquainted with the color gray in all it's shades.

Early January would be the best time to visit in that case. I will be happy to privide you with a free ticket to a Carlisle home game. Just send me a PM. :)
