better get a carnet and ship into Malaysia, ride thru thailand, laos, Cambodia back to thailand, Malaysia and send it home
You need buy insurance ( easy and cheap) for Malaysia, thailand and Laos, Not available for Cambodia.
Bike needs be in ur name, other than that no paperwork required other than ur Home drivers license.
All easily accomplished

compared to last year, its a quiet high season.
as to numbers of those leaving, NONE of the people i know are departing.
Although with the strong thai baht, many on fixed incomes are tightening their belts.
PS: a LOT less Chinese now than 2 months ago and a lot more Russians

why would anyone call immigration asking about you?, " They said it was someone in America calling claiming to be a family member of mine wanting to know if I was ok in Thailand and that was it, 4 tourist police VERY FRIENDLY "
doesn't make any sense at all.

head up to Osmach about 3-4 hours by road, exit Cambodia, visa exempt entry to thailand, stay the night in Surin town and next day return to Cambodia with new visa
On ur way back to SR make sure you stop at Banteay Chhmer, a really nice temple and most likely u'll be the only one there.

You temporally "reside" in Cambodia for 1 year after which time Cambodia could than refuse you your next extension.
Expats ( those on 1 year extensions) in Laos, Malaysia an Cambodia would love an exception to the 2 land border entries/year
BUT..........
Blame it on the guys that were abusing the visa exempt entries.

yes,
apx $285, for the 12 month extension. the 1 & 3 are single entries, the 6 and 12 are multiple entries.
No other fees , ONLY need show ur over 55 years old , no other proof needed
No re entry permit needed
Travel as much as you desire

they should also charge everyone from the governor down as they all signed off ( for $$) on the permits.

Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa will only be granted to Cambodian nationals or those with proof of permanent residence in Cambodia.
Is the info on their website wrong?
http://www.thaiembassy.org/phnompenh/en/services/7962/86336-Tourist-Visa.html
holding a 1 year extension does not make you a permanent resident in Cambodia.

Thai embassy in PP, WONT issue Thai METV to a non Cambodian, they will issue you a standard tourist visa thou,
OR just fly in after ur 2 land entries are used.
so only the 2 ways around ur situation.

I will never forget that a friend of mine who is retired living in Pattaya... He flys to Canbodia once/twice a year. A couple/three years ago he saw a vendor in PP selling bundles of US$100 bills that looked quite real.. so he bought a pack and brought the bundle back to Pattaya and to pass around to his MANY lady friends... When he showed them to me as a novelty........
I scared the hell out of him by asking IF THAI CUSTOMS AT THE AIRPORT. inspected his bags????.... He replied NO... That is when I scared the hell out of him by enlightening him as to what Thai Police would have done to him for smuggling 'COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY'........
He hadn't given a thought to that.......... OTHER TRAVELLERS CAN LEARN FROM THIS.......
when it says COPY in big letters on it,cant be called Counterfeit!!!
QuoteI heard that today if you do a border run in Poi Pet that they make you spend at least one night in Cambodia now. But I’ve also heard that it’s still business as usual at other crossings.
I've never had any trouble crossing at Poi Pet an SOMETIMES Cambodia will charge you 300 baht if ur only doing a turn around for Thailand.
Other borders zero trouble...an usually few if any tourists

not to mention kamala beach is one of the only beach resorts that actually was a village LONG before the tourists ever arrived. The only beach that has any thai feel to it still and not just a concrete jungle of shop houses
Been my home since 96.....

border to Trat is less than 1 hour, some nice hotels and a mall
PP Riverside to Trat is about 8-9 hours driving
so add on another 2 for a bus
-
how much you paying?
-
With a thai atm card, ( i use scb) Cambodian banks only charge 100 baht for using the machine and the rates are good, so just do that as they spit out $$, set ur limit before u head over.
The kandal market in PP has lots of money changer. Angkor ticket is $37/day or $62 for 3 days
My expenditures in Cambodia, (minus gas for car) average $40/day for 2 of us. NO alcohol or bar girl drinks ????
Get a good air con hotel everywhere for under $20/night
-
the numbers have seriously dropped from 3-4 /day last month (around 4-5pm) daily to 4-5/week
BUT they are out and about town Everyday and afternoon. I see at east 3-4 daily shooting.

Do you really think that I am not aware of that, it does not mean that a more flexible approach could not be adopted,
Options are a personal issue, I chose to return to a visa.
prehaps once ur running thai immigration you can inplimment the new rules ..

You need a TM30 to get an extension but I don’t think you need it to re-enter the country. Do you want to clarify this?
not always, it depends on the immigration office if they require a tm30
in Phuket town the farang volunteer goes thru ur passport for doing anything, no tm 30...told to do it
In Patong,they dont require a tm 30
but for sure you DONT need it to enter thailand
as always from issan lawyer many mistakes and things not covered well
( 800,000 2 months before, 3 after and than NEVER less than 400,000 the remainder of the year till you need top up to 800,000 for next extension. and i have never provided any health check up )
