    Some people have short memories.

    I can only refer to Phuket and the south but tourism was decimated after the tsunami and the beaches were empty.

    In 2020, despite coronavirus, Phuket's beaches are still packed.

    A minor blip in comparison!

    Agree a bit.  The south was dead for a year after the Tsunami BUT bangkok, pattaya,CM were ok.

    Packed beaches here now? not exactly true, busy, but far from packed and the roads seem empty of the tour bus's and hundreds of mini vans

    I got in on a 90 days OA visa and got it extended by 9 month to make  my permission to stay 1 year altogether.

    Same as you get in visa exempt. You obtain 90 days first.

    wrong;

    Visa exempt is 30 days>

    you come in on a 90 day Non Imm ( B, O, O-A etc) stay, you than extend it for another year ( 12 months) .????????

    ONLY way you would get a 9 month extension, is if your passport expires in 9 months as they cannot issue you an extension longer than ur passport is valid.

    Cambodia is already away from Europe and most western countries....it's now "owned" by the Chinese.

    The country should be blacklisted and all trade agreements should be nullified.

    Having business interests in the country, as likely Japan has, is no excuse. If they couldn't see what was happening there, then som nom na!

    this;

    owned, lock,stock and barrel..
    with china they dont need, (or give a sh$t about) anyone else

  4. Ignore the above post by Russell. totally wrong info...

    You can enter laos an get a visa on arrival, $35, (can take the bike if you have a note from the rental company giving you permission),  if entering Burma at Mae Sai you can get a day pass for $10, (cant take the bike) otherwise ur need a visa ( get it online) if ur planning on staying the night.( $50)

    You can NOT enter Burma from Laos

    No idea what extension ur talking about, but ur going to need 2 re entry permits and you can ONLY get 1 at a time, so better getting a multiple re entry for 3,800

    enjoy

  5. 1st no train, only to Aranyaprathet , 100 baht tuk tuk to the border, $10-25 to SR by bus or shared taxi

    You can get a thai visa in SR but it will need be thru an agent and ur passport will be sent to PP to have it issued. Figure 4-6 days and around $60

    Cambodian visa $30 at the border or 1,500 baht

    Angkor wat ticket $37/day or $62 for 3 out of 7 days.

    I'd not say Cambodia is any safer than Thailand as lots of Chinese visit/live/work in Cambodia and i'd NOT trust the government to give accurate figures

    Chances of u catching it are slim unless u love hanging out with Chinese

    For the most part, wearing masks is totally ineffective and is basically just theater. There are exceptions. If people have reason to believe they might have had close contact with infected people and/or are feeling suspicious symptoms then wearing them suppressing their spray getting to others.

  8. Quote

    China’s official Xinhua news agency reported that the genome sequence of the novel coronavirus strain separated from pangolins in the study was 99% identical to that from infected people. It said the research had found pangolins - the world’s only scaly mammals - to be “the most likely intermediate host.”

    But James Wood, head of the veterinary medicine department at Britain’s University of Cambridge, said the research was far from robust.

    “The evidence for the potential involvement of pangolins in the outbreak has not been published, other than by a university press release. This is not scientific evidence,” he said.

    Not so easy nowadays with e-passports and visa's, my wife has been to Australia 3 times and still has a blank passport.

    its in the computer where she went, how she went, and when she returned

    even without a visa, stamp

    Asians traveling in se asia always get a entry/exit stamp at the least, as many ASEAN members don't need a visa to enter each others countries.
