  1. Most of the plastic in the Gulf of Thailand comes from other countries. This will help, but it is only a 'drop in the ocean'.
  2. I thought that it was 'Time to go said Zebedee'.
  3. My last two 'donkey' desktop pc's were from there. The assistant admitted that they 'cannot get technical staff'. It's an island issue. I do buy my laptops there.
  4. Thanks khunPer but I am looking for a desktop.
  5. The problem is probably a location issue. Here on the island, the 'IT' shops do not carry 'off the shelf' desktops - they want to build them for you. The last two that I have had built were not very good. The last one was a dog. Switched it on this morning and no wifi connection. (Bluetooth has not worked for months and months.) I kicked it and chucked it out. I have had issues with it from the word go. Even my friendly, local IT support guy was frustrated with it. Reloaded Windows at least three times.
  6. Look like long lead times (3 - 4 weeks) I need 2 - 4 days Thanks for the suggestion
  7. Thanks Bert. I had never considered a midget. As someone who started programming in the 60's on a Hollerith 1004 and an ICL 1901A, (8k memory - both the size of a mediam sized car) something that small does not fit into my understanding. I will look into it.
  8. Nothing fancy - I am flexible https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/desktop-pcs/asus/s500te-713700001ws-black-p067972/ https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/desktop-pcs/asus/s500te-513400003ws-black-p067971/ https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/desktop-pcs/acer/aspire-tc-1780-1378g0t0mi-t007-dt-bk6st-007-p066851/
  9. I tried to order 3 different ones - no have/end of line etc. I asked for something similar - no reply.
  10. I need to buy a new computer. Mine died this morning. It will be an off the shelf desktop. It is a back up to my main laptop. Prefer ASUS or ACER but will consider anything. I tried JIB, Banana IT, Powerbuy, InvadeIT etc etc mai mee Any ideas please Samuians? NB I have had 'made to measure' ones before - not impressed.
  11. Worse than that, from the PBS article ... 'Nipped in the bud' as they say.
  12. Looking at the photograph, it seems that the Thai tradition is drinking and standing around talking.
  13. OK here on Samui. 36 C in the shade with 66% humidity. I put a digital thermometer out in the sun for an hour - the screen went black! As it cooled down and I could read the numbers - 56 C
  14. Those were my first thoughts as well. I don't think that I have ever seen anyone 'flash the flesh' in 40 years of wearing a suit in business, and here we have 'connect four'. Now I cannot unsee it.
  15. That's a bit like decriminalising Cannabis but Anutin saying that you still cannot smoke it. Everyone disobeys the laws when it suits them.
  16. I am expecting Samui to make similar announcements soon. I hope that I am wrong.
  17. Yes, but personal debt will increase and so will loan sharks.
  18. Yes. Muslims have a lot to answer for.
  19. and Happy Easter to you.
  20. Yes - pretty much guaranteed if you go out where there are people. Especially kids. Just put your phone and money in a plastic bag. Then smile and say thank you when you are 'blessed'.
  21. Same with Firefox with Adblock.
  22. Mostly foreigners in our experience. Europeans and Indians. (Half term/Easter in most of Europe) Some Thais with overseas boyfriends/husbands meeting up with family.
  23. In other news, Phuket officials complain about the very large number of rogue Russians everywhere.
  24. And the 'flavour of the month' PM is encouraging tourism in the south of Thailand. What could possible go wrong? Many years ago, I did a border bounce to Malaysia. Herbert (who organised them) said to us all - "after we pass the next police checkpoint, we will not stop for anything until we reach the border. If you need a pee, please do it in the footwell by the door."
