  1. On Samui, there are local groups and hotels that organise volunteer 'clean up' events. Six Senses hotel is near where I live and they have regular clean up days along the whole road to where their resort is. They cut back the vegetation and clear up the rubbish. Local Tessabaan workers (in yellow shirts) are also out on the roads regularly - tidying up and collecting rubbish.
  2. Ah, but this is a Samui thread. No problem buying a beer here - everywhere and anywhere. The magic of Samui ????
  3. And the pool was more than 5 feet deep! (It was a practice pool for diving lessons.) OK RR, you can remove your tongue - no offence taken.
  4. Pre Covid, there were at least six airlines flying to Samui. Even Thai Airways used to fly to Samui until it decided that it could save money by co-sharing with Bangkok Airways. Now, there are currently two airlines flying to Samui. It all depends where you are flying from.
  5. I do not use phone apps. (wifi off, location off etc etc) On my computers I use https://www.windguru.cz/30397 (Location is Samui) I find this one the most reliable weather forecast for the next 48 hours. The further forward you look, the less reliable. As others here have said - weather patterns in Thailand are very 'local'. Windguru will tell me that there is rain on the island, but it may not be at my place. There is a phone app for windguru.
  6. Maybe because the South Korean Prime Minister does not sue the people promoting that soft power. Unlike the Thai Prime Minister who is suing Milli and has already had her fined for an online post.
  7. I checked with this web site and they do ship to Thailand. I have not used them yet though. samedaysupplements.com Here on Samui, the local DHL agents always want a brown envelope so we all avoid DHL. iHerb always seem to use DHL, even if you request post.
  8. It means that they can change the rules , with immediate affect, at any time. Total control! eg no demonstrations because of Covid! It is not going to go away until the government changes
  9. To fly to Samui, you just need a ticket. Samui has no special rules.
  10. Dear China Please can we have more water sir? Grovellingly yours Thailand And this is your friend?
  11. I cannot comment on the 50 baht as we do not see that charge. We just pay the guy who owns the boat. My partner organises it all. It does seem to be a small amount to make a fuss over though. I give that much to the government workers who clean the streets if I see them. It is a small amount to me, but lunch for them. Thais on the island are struggling in these Covid times.
  12. Definitely pigs on the island. Although they are smaller than previous photos. We organise tours there most weeks. Everyone who has been has had a good time and had fun. Includes snorkelling and fishing if you want. (My partner has been three times this year!)
  13. Question - did the hospital give her any medicines to fight the virus? If so, did you have to pay for them? Yet another of my staff now has Covid and she has had to ask me for an advance on salary. They told her to quarantine at home but that she had to pay for the tablets - 2,000 baht or more. When she told the clinic (Bophut) that she was fully paid up on Social Security, they said no matter. Now only children up to 2 years old get free medicine? If she wants a doctor's certificate, she has to go to Nathon (whilst positive with Covid) and pay for it. Previous staff with Covid have had the medicines/certificate for free.
  14. Glad that she is feeling better. Tough for a 9 yo. Doc told me that immunity starts ears off after three months. (I have had three jabs.) Yes - maybe the second time is a different variant? Good luck anyway.
  15. Not really. You posted in the Thai Residency (TR?)/Work Permit (WP?) section and you are asking about a TP? Can you not write English?
  16. I thought that people were dumb to buy coins that do not exist. Then there were pieces of art that do not exist. But to 'invest' in land that does not exist? The lunatics are now running the asylum.
  17. You have missed the interesting bit. Her 'songs' criticise the government - especially the PM. She has been fined for spreading fake news and is being sued by Prayut for 'slander'. He is trying to put her in prison!
  18. Always two ways to look at things. The truck was in a left filter only lane and not supposed to go straight ahead. Only the right hand lane was for straight on - the truck was jumping the queue?
  19. A very lucky lady. Good luck with the operation.
  20. Too late. The CCP has already taken over. Either via piracy, bribery or economic blackmail.
