  1. Very misleading photo for the rules as stated in the article.
  2. I thought that everyone on KPN rolled Mr Anutin's 'go to' product. ???? (Apologies. I could not resist that one. I'll fetch my coat!)
  3. I doubt it. Venus is never that clear from where I live and I have zero light pollution. Difficult to tell it from a star with the naked eye. Looks more like the moon.
  4. A number of reasons. Immigrants are cheaper and easier to control. (Live in camps.) There are strong labour laws to protect Thai workers. There is a minimum wage for Thais. Not so for immigrants (or if there is, very few people stick to it). When I built my house more than 20 years ago, all of the construction workers were from Issan. Same for other builders around me. When the government put the minimum wage up to 300 baht per day, suddenly all of the construction workers were from Burma.
  5. The beer was probably past its sell by date anyway. ????
  6. Not all foreigners khun Neeranam. Just some. 22 years living here and I have had to involve the police in a number of cases from murder to petty theft and lost property. Never a problem. Always a good result.
  7. Covid cases are already peaking. Your current measures are not working Uncle Tu, so why bother with new ones that also will not work?
  8. The wires are usually internet cables. How would you feel if your internet went down on a regular basis.
  9. And if you go to the beaches on the north and possibly the west coast? Seas as flat as a pancake. Every day I see the beaches at Choengmon, Tongsai Bay, Samrong Bay, Plai Laem beach, Bangrak, Fisherman's village and Maenam. The last couple of days, no rough seas. Six months of the year - rougher weather from the east. The other six months, rougher weather from the west. It is not rocket science folks - it is living in the tropics. Mind you - no sharks. Unlike some of the world's famous beaches. RIP khun Jakkraphan.
  10. There is no flight monopoly. Pre Covid, about half a dozen different airlines were flying direct to Samui. This has been the case on and off for about 15 years. Because of Covid and other restrictions, those airlines are currently not flying until demand increases.
  11. I have no mind about this one way or another but the article was commenting on the fact that the 'masses' followed the rules and the rich do not. The event was back in January. I thought that Chiang Mai (and most other places) had an alcohol ban back then. Difficult to remember exact dates because then moved to state 'SHA plus' restaurants could sell alcohol, then it was bars could obtain restaurant licences etc etc. I do agree with your Puritanical ‘anti-alcohol’ comment though. ???? cheers.
  12. No one is making Russia look bad. Putin is doing that all on his own.
  13. Things are opening up. I cannot say exactly what as my nightlife stops at 22.00 from choice. (First check out tomorrow is 06.00!) The other 3 questions Yes. Whenever. Yes.
  14. I think that it is pretty much like that all over rural and semi rural Thailand. It certainly happens a lot here on Samui.
  15. Bloomin cold and very very wet here on Samui. Non stop rain for the last two days and it is set to continue until Wednesday.
  16. From the limited information that we can see, the majority of these seem to be ATK tests. ie self testing and then registering with the hospital. I would think that these are mostly Thais claiming the free medicines and insurance. Most of the foreigners that I know, including myself, who have found to be positive have not bothered to report the result. (If I had reported it, I would have received 50,000 THB from the insurance company.) The only exception was a friend who was going to Australia. She needed a 'fit to fly' certificate and so had to register as positive. She was told not to go to the hospital and to quarantine at home (mild symptoms). Her husband collected the certificate for her.
  17. Our guests have been doing self quarantine in their rented villas since December. 10 days in the villa and sorted. Whilst in the villa, they have been allowed to walk the beaches etc - just have to avoid people.
  18. Good luck in your search. I did not find anywhere that looked reliable when I wanted to sell my watch collection some years back. (I never wear a watch in Thailand.) I managed to sell a couple of watches on trips to the UK, but the rest I gave away to family and friends.
