  1. What area are you staying in? Best to pick a local hire place. I recommend that you do not leave your passport as a deposit.
  2. Is she in a private hospital or a government one?
  3. That was the one that I saw. Lots of youngsters having a good time with very loud music. Nice to see (from a distance). I took my zimmer frame and found somewhere more quiet. Mind you, It was not quiet for long. It was a friend's birthday and his wife was still in Bangkok. She told him to go out and have good time.
  4. I went to Chaweng last night for an update on what is open. Quite a few tourists walking around beach road etc. (Tens not hundreds.) Restaurants near Ark Bar were doing OK. Soi Green Mango was quiet, but it was a tad early (22.00). Only a couple of places open including the Green Mango. Maybe more open at weekends. A few places up near Black Club were quite busy and a bit more action on Soi Reggae. No masks and definitely no social distancing. The 'Thai' live music bar near the lake was packed with locals queuing to get in.
  5. Sorry - this is Thailand. We all know what should happen and we all know what would happen should such laws be passed. Nothing. Absolutely nothing would change. Very sad for all concerned. RIP little 'un.
  6. And the problem with the new law is that it is so vague in places that the 'powers that be' can interpret it to mean whatever they like. Up to them. A bit like section 112 of the royal defamation law.
  7. And that it why it is important to support your local friendly bar girls. Their families need the money that they send in order to survive. Bar girls are not looked down on by their parents. They make a valuable contribution. Many will laugh at this comment, but think about it. Strange world.
  8. That is a good point. I see it a lot here on Samui. Foreigners (both young and old) looking to the left before crossing the road. Then I just know that they are going to walk out in front of me.
  9. < Removed post edited out > A few year ago, here in Thailand, my dog bit off my finger. When I was talking to the surgeon that re-attached it, he mentioned that mine was the first finger re-attachment that he had carried out. He usually re-attached penis's. About four per year on average.
  10. And the 'use by' date for the smallpox vaccines is.......?
  11. I am sure that your information is better than my assumption. My assumption was based on the fact that, after my initial tax bill - I was taxed for land only. I had to go to the land office for documentation to prove that I had built houses on it. I never had to go to the Tessabaan for anything to do with House and Land tax changes. It is all as clear as mud. ????
  12. Thanks very much for that. I managed to go today (14.00). In and out in less than five minutes. Only three of us there. This was just after my two minute visit to immigration for my annual visa renewal. (Walk up to counter four, give them my passport number, take a photo - all done for another year!)
  13. There is a daily fine for late payment. The other problem is that there seems to be no direct contact/updates between the Land office and the Revenue office. We register our houses with the land office but many of my customers do not have their house registered with the revenue department. It seems that the land office do not pass this information to the revenue office. The good news is that when we told the the revenue office that there was now a house on the land, they gave us until the next tax year to provide the documents for an update.
  14. We have turtles here at Koh Samui and we did not have to build an artificial reef.
  15. Just what we did not need. An excuse for the CCSA dictators to stay in power. Sorry. Masks forever. Thailand pass forever. Monkeypox testing with quarantine etc etc etc. Plague number two? Five more to go?
  16. I would say that the biggest things stopping people from buying are prices going up, lack of job security and possible unemployment.
  17. Olive oil spread. Tastes fine and olive oil is good for you (supposedly).
  18. Looks red to me. (See original article.) With those powers of observation......
  19. You only need to see a doctor if you want to claim on insurance or fly anywhere. (Fit to fly certificate.) You should quarantine for 5 days as you can pass Covid on to vulnerable people.
