We live equidistant from four small-ish villages.....only two houses are bordering on the tidy....and they stand out like a sore thumb......I look on in total amazement at the state of all the rest.

Its not too bad around where I live, but across the main road there is a cut thru which is used by a number of people. Had occasion to go that way a while back and the rubbish was piled high consisting of old building cast offs to plastic of all kinds and general household waste. This over a stretch of at least 100 yards and 20 or so feet back from the road edge. A short distance further along are what look like well used eateries, but I for one would not consider feeding my dog there.

You have to look at this from the car rental company’s view too.

All he knows is you booked a car with deposit and changed your mind.

The fraudulent use of your card could have originated anywhere, and whilst there is a temporal correlation, it’s not conclusive evidence of it being from the car rental company.

Are the Uber Eats transactions in the same city as the car rental company? Do you still need a rental car?

I would still rent from there having put the manager on notice about the frauds and if I were the manager, I wouldn’t give you a refund either.

Any (highly unlikely) future fraud would be dealt with by your bank in a timely fashion.

Why does the fraudulent transaction have to be in the same city? About 18 months ago I bought something via Lazada using my debit card. 27000B was taken from my account the same day by Deliveroo in the UK, 6000 miles away. I did get my money returned by the Thai bank but it took a while.

Book smart, reading and retaining knowledge doesnt make you a "nice" person in the process. It simply means you can retain knowledge. Life experience or "street smart" is another form of intelligence.

People think that because they speak the same language they are understood, which is not always true, how people perceive what you have said may not be your intent, you cant know what their perception is going to to be hence we get misunderstandings or "taken the wrong way".To say nothing of IQ level that they have clue what your on about, people assume they do.

As Forrest said " life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what you gonna get" and thats true of people until you start interacting with them and figure them out.

I read this somewhere, and find it so true...“Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.”

I don't want you to do anything, I was simply telling you how getting a Revolut account is easy without a UK phone number, something that you wrongly claimed was impossible.

Where did I say it was IMPOSSIBLE/ SHOW ME THE QUOTE.

It was my experience at the time of acquiring my Revolut card. As I have not had to apply since, I have to assume the same rule applies. Then you come along all guns blazing. As the saying goes,  better to keep your mouth closed. etc, etc.

No, you do not need a UK phone number or address with Revolut as long as you don't need an actual debit card (virtual cards are offered).  I opened my account with a Thai number and just a post code of a place I haven't lived in for 47 years.

What would you have me do? Sorry, but I'm all out of medals and a pat on the back is doubtful as my arms are not that long. However, having got what you wanted, good luck.

it would be nice to have the helpline and complaints numbers for foreigners wishing to complain agains the taxi and tuk tuk mafia crooks.

Very good for Bangkok, what what about the other towns like Phuket-Hua Hin-Pattaya ?

Foreigners in Bangkok mostly use the skytrain so this would be more of concern in the other beach towns

Its not just confined to beach resorts, most of if not all cities with taxis have the same problem. Can't tar them all with the same brush, but many try it on.

I did a small transfer using Rebolut

    Into my Bangkok bank account.

When the money reached my account here in Thailand, Bangkok Bank charged me 200฿ fees.

    When using Wise no fee's.

I believe you should look closer at who charged the Bht200 fee. My understanding is, Thai banks do not charge for receiving money. Latter part of last year I had a dispute with my UK bank who claimed it was BKB who made the extra charge, until I proved them wrong with a written statement from BKB that they do not make a charge when receiving cask from abroad.

This thread doesn't seem to mention anywhere that opening a Revolut account needs an address outside Thailand as Thailand is not listed under the eligible countries during sign up process as it does for Wise?  I am not sure how important the overseas address is - do they mail stuff there? Is it needed to get a Revolut card or do they mail to Thailand?

You do need an address in your home country AND a telephone number. I use a relatives address and my own UK Skype number.

So if I spend say 3 months in Thailand from Australia how I can I use and benefit from Revolut. Can I put money in it and then use it to pay for things in Thailand in thai baht I assume. Is the advantage that the transfer rate is better - I have an Australian card with no fees for foreign transactions and the Mastercard transfer rate which is good so not sure why I would use this. Can I access cash at ATM's. Don't need help with savings plans or travel insurance etc. Free credit card travel insurance for three month trips. Not sure how I would use it.

Here is a way to benefit using Revolut in Thailand. I have just been to tops Supermarket 1 hour ago. The till read THB1309. I hand over my Revolut card and ask the till girl to take in Thai Baht. The Price I paid was THB1309. Also in Uniqlo, The cost of the items was THB950. Swipe the card on the reader and pay THB950. I also use the ATM of Kasikorn Bank and pay the THB220, which is standard with all banks. Transferring GBP to Kasikorn from the APP cost me THB 22.50 last time which was December 23. A transfer from my UK bank to Revolut is free, but there is a small charge for transferring GBP to Bath on the card via the APP.

    Hope this helps.
