Flame. Are you now correcting spelling and grammar too? Posts regarding others spelling and grammar not only hijacks the topic but is poor netiquette.
But calling other posters illiterate because they don't agree with you it's fine for you, innit

Just stop drinking for few days, as an experiment, after 1 week or less, you will feel different.
Of course, if all your friends are drinking, it might be difficult, but you are always free to start drinking again.

They do manufacture the best beer in S.E. Asia.
I'm not expert , but the Lao beer sold in 7/11, although a bit pricey, tastes great.

Stop give money or food to vendors as this please

It's just that there is not enough jungle left for all of them.
Elephants and people are living and working together since thousands of years.
Of course nowadays transportation of construction materials is done by machines, that's why we see elephants working for the tourists.
I would not really take a ride on an elephant just for fun, but i like to see the young elephants interacting with humans, they are as funny as little babies.
It's not true that every mahut treats them poorly, even it's obvious that it can happen.

Yeah the public transport is pretty old run down and slow, but I used taxis for long journeys and tuktuks for short distance journeys.
To reiterate though, I didn't mean many or most Thais hate foreigners, it is a small % that do. Plus I think also social media tends to exploit the worst in something, so when a stupid drunk farang does something, it gets shared like crazy, and thus an image is painted in people's minds.
Going back to the subject of Laos, I really would move there if they had better medical facilities and a beach or 2. It also helps that the language is so similar to Thai, and being able to more or less speak Thai, I can get by there with ease. One thing I do not understand though is how everything is more expensive there in general, yet they have a weaker and poor economy / people. Rent, food, and general living seems to be more pricyWell, i guess also in Laos prices are higher in the tourist areas.
I am glad to hear Laos is still charming after many years, i have fond memories of places and people.
-
Although i have not spent a significant amount of time in Laos since 2005, my impression at the time was similar.
Refreshing experience, although the buses and transportation in general seemed a bit too old and slow.
I understand how many Thais may get annoyed with foreigners after decades of mass tourism, but i guess most of them can see the difference between polite or impolite guests.

Perhaps we should admit that it was 'racist art' and that the Australian cartoonists are the scourge of the planet, so that marcusarelus can find some peace of mind.

Those deaths of young army conscripts are deplorable, that said, it seems to me that people are killing each other in reasonable numbers also outside army camps.

I don't think he was making a moralistic point.Perhaps he was just echoing:
Sex: the pleasure is momentary, the position ridiculous, and the expense damnable.
Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield
I thought that quote was from O.Wilde.
If sex is being overrated or not, has been debated since aeons, so far a consensus has not been found.

Never tried this and never will, it's the same, to me, as finding someones unwashed socks and thinking I'll wear those today.
Not sure where it is, in the med' somewhere, I can remember seeing the old guys with their feet in the sea and similar fish eating the dead skin etc. That seems a lot better than a tank where you have no idea how long it is since the water was changed etc.
I think wearing unwashed socks is better, you are not supposed to pay for it.

No, you brought up the Guardian, several times. The Guardian and that silly, literally inept bitch, J.K. Rowling. These are the only two strings to your bow. Got nothing better?
Tbh, i brought up the Guardian first, but i was clearly pointing out the readers comments, whose great majority don't see any racism in the cartoon, in fact in complete disagreement with the tone of the article.

For what we know they could have more money than you, and hitch-hiking just for the fun of it.

Although I was replying to the person who stated that people who feel that the cartoon wasnt racist , must be mentally ill , that is common among some people , they cannot accept that other people may have differing opinions
Fair enough, my point was that every political opinion have their fair share of obtuse and intolerant people.

I do think that the lefty , liberal contingent have difficulty in understanding that some other people have a different opinion to them .
You cannot accept that other people have a different opinion to you , you just consider them to be "mentally ill"
Sorry to correct you, there is nothing here about right of left.
Normal people can understand that people can have different opinions.
Normal people are in favour of freedom of expression, normal people see nothing wrong with satire.
As i pointed out in a previous post, majority of "Guardian" readers don't see racism in the cartoon.

Luke Pearson, the founder of Aboriginal media company IndigenousX, said the controversy was the latest example of an Australian media organisation being “aggressively racist and then pretend[ing] they don’t understand why people are calling them racist”
The Guardian's opinion is "News Corp defiant after 'racist' Serena Williams cartoon sparks global furore"
Except that "global furore " is nowhere to be seen.

If the topic of the thread was American racist cartoons you would have point but what does it have to do with racism in Australia? Because America is more or less racist has nothing to do with the rest of the world reacting negatively to Australian racism.
I read some comments on "The Guardian" yesterday, most of the readers agree that there is no racism in the cartoon.
Of course you are free to have an opinion, just don't hide behind "the rest of the world " opinion.
Celebrities are often the target of satire, get over it.

Isn't it harsh to call them low life ?
I would say that hitch-hiking is out of fashion these days, times have changed, right.
It can be dangerous for hitch-hikers too, they could meet some real 'low life'

The throwing of a tantrum these days is a calculated effort by a mature player to disrupt play and cause the younger relatively inexperienced player to lose concentration. A last desperate throw of the dice. It didn't work.
I think you are spot on, an ugly tactic if you ask me, and a bad example for all young generations who dream to be sport champions.

No , i disagree, a sore loser is a sore loser, moreover we are not talking about amateurish sunday football, we are talking about some very rich sport superstar.
I think i have the right to expect a polite behaviour from those overpaid superstars, even Nastase and McEnroe, at the time, were heavily criticised for turning tennis matches into unpleasant comedies.
