  1. Off topic quarrelsome posts about personal appearances were removed. Please don't endlessly clutter the discussion with arguments based on purely subjective opinions. Thank you. @Celsius please don't persist. Move on to another thread if you have nothing to add to this one. Thank you.
  2. That pretty much sums it up. They'll coach you through the process if they like you.
  3. Posts advocating illegally keeping money erroneously credited to an account were removed. Money accidentally credited to your account does not belong to you. It falls under embezzlement and swindling in Article 352 of the Criminal Coslde, and would also attract a jail term up to a year and a half, as well as a 30,000 baht fine. More here: https://aseannow.com/topic/1275525-youll-face-jail-if-you-spend-wrongly-transferred-money-rtp-tell-thais/ Quoting from the article: People in this situation should follow a four step plan. 1. Don't use the money. 2. Contact the bank. 3. On no account return the money yourself (it can be a ruse by gangs laundering money and get you in trouble). 4. Ensure that you work with the bank to ensure the money is returned by them. Apart from this members of the public can call the police on 191 and 1599, lines open 24/7. ** A subsequent post advising the OP to do nothing was removed. The official police advice detailed above is to contact your bank directly. They will investigate the erroneous transaction according to the law ** Advising any other course of action is advocating illegal activity and is against our forum rules. Thank you, and this thread is now closed.
  4. Absolutely it's the best. Converting back to your home currency at point of sale or ATM withdrawal is one of the biggest travel rip offs out there. The exchange rate using this method is terrible.
  5. Personal insults were removed. @Celsius and @richard_smith237 please be polite when you talk to people, or about people. Thank you.
  6. There are other services like Revolut and Western Union, who sometimes give better rates than Wise. Sign up with them and forget about Wise.
  7. https://library.siam-legal.com/thai-law/labor-protection-act-severance-sections-118-122/ As other members have pointed out, the Labour Court is accessible and will help anyone who has been unfairly dismissed or has not been paid all the entitlements.
  8. Most risk can be mitigated by: 1) Cover your hand when entering your PIN 2) Not handing your card to a waiter, ask that you pay at the card reader yourself 2) Disable card functionality (online and in store purchases, cash withdrawals, etc) or freeze the whole card, via your bank website, except when youre using these functions
  9. Posts were removed. Please debate nicely and don't be gratuitously rude. Thank you.

Please debate the topic. Thank you. Please also keep in mind the rules that you agreed to when you joined us. Read them. We welcome balanced and factual discussion from both sides, but you will be removed from the conversation, and perhaps the whole forum, if you peddle hatred here. Thank you.

  20. Surely she'd want you to go with her to meet her family, and would happily translate your mangled attempts to communicate with them. Unless there's something she doesn't want you to see, or unless she has other plans.....
  21. I might have missed something Cameroni, but why wouldn't you want to go to Phuket to meet her family over Christmas? Is she insisting to go alone?
  22. Don't be so sure. Most Samsung phones, for example, have a feature called Knox, which allows you to set up a completely new phone system, complete with its own set of apps, behind a single password protected icon that can be hidden anywhere. You can have one set if social networking accounts that's visible, and another invisible set of accounts, all on the same device Watch your possessions if she's on the way out.
