My friend is getting the run around at immigration, Im assuming to pressure him into using an agent (their suggestion) so they get their share. He had all the requirements and money and paperwork but suddenly they are saying he needs a paper from the court proving the child is his and you cant get this paper until the child is 5 years old. His child is less than a month old. This seems like an outright lie. What would be the point of the child needing to be 5? He is named as the father on the birth certificate. Can anyone confirm this 5 year old thing or proof from the court is complete nonsense or is this actually the law?

Theres a paper in the passport that had the 3 month check in date on it, and below that mentions the 2k-5k penalty plus 200 a day if you are late reporting in. I already know Pattaya does things very differently from the rest of Thailand but its frustrating anyway. Its our own fault for not understanding when the 3 month check in started.

Hey tried going through alot of this thread but couldnt find an answer: ARRIVAL THAILAND DATE, on the form is it asking for the literal last date of entry into Thailand or is it asking for the last stamp date at the beginning of the retirement visa process? Im assuming actual entry into Thailand but just want to make sure.

Updated info on good hospitals in Bangkok
TheLaughingMan replied to TheLaughingMan's topic in Health and Medicine
Right but how are we supposed to find the right doctor when we dont even know whats wrong? Or even if we did know what was wrong, what am I missing here in this "choosing a good doctor" advice, I dont get it, is there a yelp review section for doctors in thailand? ???? My mother was having breathing trouble and lots of pain in her left shoulder and upper chest and pain breathing in. They did tons of tests and everything came back normal, they charged us 9k and sent her home, outrageous in my opinion but whatever. Since then and taking anti-inflamatories 2 times a day shes been able to keep the attacks of pain to a minimum but they are still there. -
Ive seen some posts that are 10 years old and was wondering if anyone had some updated information or opinions on good government or private hospitals in Bangkok. We were using Sukhumvit hospital at Ekamai and they charge alot and dont seem to fix anything. We'd like to try a good government hospital if there is such a thing. Are ST Louis or Bangkok Christian Hospital still decent hospitals? What about Mission or Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospitals? Thankyou

Should I have hernia done in private or public hospital
TheLaughingMan replied to ubonr1971's topic in Health and Medicine
I know this isnt what you asked but giving you this info just in case its something you want to consider, I flew to Canada to go to the famous Shouldice Hospital Hernia clinic, they DO NOT use mesh so theres less chance of complications. Heres a link to my review of it last December. It will cost less than the quoted Thai private hospital fee and is recognised as one of the best in the world for Hernia surgeries, they ONLY do hernias. -
Hey its my moms birthday soon and I want to take her to a nice restaurant with a focus on good food. Price not too much of an issue as shes getting old and not sure how many of these birthdays left so dont mind the expense. If its not expensive but absolutely awesome food thats great too, any recomendations? She liked Lemoncello on Soi 11 but want to bring her somehwere different.

Hey so I have entered thailand 4 times in the past 7 months, going away for 1 or 2 weeks each time I leave. Each time I returned (by air) just got visa exempt. I turn 50 early next month and will get my retirement visa going then but this time I wanted to do a one day border bounce by air to Cambodia in the next few days. I know I'll probably get a warning or even taken aside to discuss it but with me turning 50 and plans to get retirement visa soon will they be lenient? Guess Im wondering if anyone has recent experiences to share. Thankyou.

Ok wow didnt realise there wasnt just a common retirement visa everyone gets. She got the non immigrant visa that gave her the 3 months to get started then the year. She applied in Thailand. I was under the impression that that meant her visa expires in 2024 and all she has to do is the 3 month reports. And that she could leave and come back as many times as she wishes during this time and it doesnt affect her expiry of 2024 since she got the multiple entry option.

When I first got here to Bangkok in December 2022 I got a thai e-sim installed on my Canadian unlocked iphone that has a physical Canadian Sim card inside, everything worked fine, I could make calls in thailand with the thai e-sim and could call Canada using the Canadian Sim. I just noticed that I can no longer call Canada using the Canadian Sim, when I try I get a Thai recording telling me Im not set up for international calls, which makes sense if I was trying to use the Thai sim but it very clearly shows me Im attempting to use the Canadian sim to make a Canadian call but its not actually happening, it seems to be defaulting to the Thai e-sim. Anyone have a clue what might have changed or is going wrong now? Thanks

Is there any kind of fast safe delivery service from Pattaya to Bangkok? Looking to send a passport.

Ya right now only the older models can be software modded, but if you wanted you could bring your oled switch to a shop and get it chipped. Sell the original games to pay for the chip ????

So went to MBK and got one there, for anyone interested you can get an oled switch with 128, 256, 512 gigs capacity (the size of the sd card) preloaded with a bunch of games. The 512 has about 70 games on it. Price is 17500 for the 128, 18500 for 256 and 20500 (I think) for 512 loaded with games. Normally an oled switch is about 11500 baht new so you're paying about 5k for the mod chip install and and then paying for an sd card loaded with games or not. I chose to buy the white modded oled (brand new) for 16500 (one guy quoted me 16000 but it would take 3 hours to prepare whereas the one I bought was ready to go) and then I bought a 1TB sd card for 3600 baht and will load my own games at home. I did talk him into spending an hour loading 10 games for me for free but I already planned to do the vast majority of the downloading and installing games at home. Its not hard just annoying. He had the 512's and under preloaded but they were missing some of my must have games anyway and I wanted 1TB size. If you're not in a rush like me and don't want the aggravation of downloading and installing a ton of games you can buy the same setup as me and chose all the games you want loaded on it but he will take a day to do that. 1TB can hold about 150 games depending on if you ask for lots of big games... for 25k baht. He has a catalogue to choose from.
