  1. Actually, you can transfer the money in Lazada wallet to your bank account. The instructions are on the Lazada website somewhere. However, you must use the Lazada phone app to do it. Can't do on the website. Happened to me recently where I had to prepay, and then cancelled. The refund went to the wallet, but Lazada sent me email saying I could move the money to my bank account. The money was in the account within a week.
  2. How so? It's not the first time the Eurovision is held in Malmö.
  3. I have even better approach to the drug problem. Decriminalize all drugs, let all the junkies kill themselves off, and sell through pharmacies at normal prices and tax. It seems to work in Portugal. Of course, it will never happen here. Too many high ups make tones of money from illegal drugs, starting with the law enforcers (aka RTP).
  4. It would be better if they scrapped the silly ban on alcohol sales between 14-17. Just ridiculous. Somewhere I've read that the ban has been removed, but somehow it has not permeated to the retail chains.
  5. You are describing exactly my situation. I have tried to research the issue of the last will, and came to the conclusion that I would need three wills, One for Thailand, covering Thai assets only, one for home country, which would also cover country where my relatives live, and one for the offshore account. Alternately, I think, one will could probably cover home county and offshore account if it was bi-lingual. Not a big deal really, apart from finding witnesses, and where to store the wills.
  6. Let's not forget who is really in charge of the government, and his war on drugs some years back when he was de facto PM.
  7. If it can't be user disabled in this version, could it be positioned closer to the bottom of the page. I think it would be much less obtrusive there.
  8. You mentioned that only dinosaurs use towers in a derogatory manner. Had to correct you... And no, I never used my mobile to view AN, it's just not what I would want to do when I'm "out and about". AN is not my primary interest in life.
  9. I agree with you on tablet use. I have one too which I take with me to places where I would have to wait for longer, like hospital, or the car workshop while my car is serviced. But in your post you mentioned phones, not tablets. But for serious gaming you will never beat a high end CPU, high end GPU in a tower with water cooling and a high res monitor(s) with your phones and pads.. You don't have to be a dinosaur for that.
  10. You know, he just forgets that it's the "dinosaurs" that created Internet, integrated circuits, PC's, and even smart phones... among other things, like SR-71 Blackbird that could do Mach3+ 60 years ago. I could go on forever..
  11. Sure.. I just wonder how my games would look on a 5 inch screen... And how I would play them without WASD. Do the phones come now with high end graphic cards? Last time I looked, even the low end graphic cards were something like 3 times bigger than the large phones. Or how would I access my customer's datacenter without my laptop, or tower. It's called progress. And, unlike Transam, I have 3x24" screens on my desk.... Beat you there quarter miler!! 5555 You know, there are people that do more on their PCs than just access AN... You're welcome too..
  12. Seriously? Thought only Gen Z were glued to their phones. How can anybody possibly get any meaningful info on a 5 inch screen. It's like Concorde. 21 years ago it took only 4 hours to cross the Atlantic, now it takes 11. We are regressing.... Thank you Gen Z crowd, you will not be remembered. Perhaps it's time to run a survey on what equipment members access the AN. Is it possible to select more than one choice on surveys?
  13. Is there a way to disable this green arrow thing? All keyboards have Home and End key that are much better and faster to use.
  14. AI powered.... Be afraid, be very afraid....
  15. Not even close. 650km south of Manilla. Just north of Mindanao Island.
  16. I 've always renewed my DL through my country's embassy while bumming around. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to renew my home country's DL anymore. Some EU rule stipulates that you must get a DL from the country where you're resident, so I'm stuck with Thai DL.
  17. I was stopped only once (in Hua Hin of course!)and asked for driving license. As soon as I opened my wallet and started pulling out the DL, the cop saw it was Thai, lost interest and walked away. Of course, if you are involved in an accident, things would be different. And probably, the insurance would not be valid. But TBH, letting you drivers license expire is a bit irresponsible. In over 40 years bumming around the world as an expat, I always made sure my DL was renewed. It's an important document, just like your passport, and can be used as an ID in emergencies.
  18. I fully agree with this. As long as the girls and the boys are entering the trade on their own, and not through a pimp or human trafficking.
  19. The truth is that vast majority of Chinese drop shipping from Lazada, Shopee. AliExpress and others don't arrive through the post office. Most are distributed by delivery services. like Kerry, Flash Express and such. So how are they gonna collect their 7% tax?
  20. Simple. The seller will just increase the price.
  21. That's an expensive solution. 4 bay Synology NAS enclosure = 20.000 baht. 4x8TB NAS drives = 40.000 baht. Total of 60.000 or so baht. With only 2 drives you are limited to only RAID0 or RAID1. RAID0 will give you twice the capacity of a single drive, but no data redundancy. If one drive fails, you'll lose the whole RAID. RAID1 will give you only half the capacity of 2 drives, but provides redundancy. IMO, Raid0 and Raid1 are generally for specialized applications. RAID5 and RAID6 gives very good data redundancy and read speed, but need minimum of 3 drives for RAID5 and 4 drives for RAID6. With only 4 bays, you could also build RAID10, which will give you the same capacity and data redundancy as RAID6, but with higher write speeds. I would go for a minimum 5 bay enclosure to build a decent NAS. My NAS has 8x2TB drives and a dedicated HBA card to drive them all, plus 2x4TB HDD and 1TB SSD. It runs TrueNAS software.
  22. One can never have enough storage... Currently on my main PC I have 20TB HDD (8TB+8TB+4TB, all Seagate), 2TB NVMe for games, and 1TB NVMe as video work area. The system is on 1TB NVMe. All NVMe are Samsung. The HDD storage is about 68% utilized. What I store on HDDs? Porn, HD movies, TV series, photos, music. Then I also have 24TB NAS....
  23. Great news! Long live the mightiest of all cats and top apex land predator.
  24. "Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand?"
  25. I think it's the environment you're you're in that let's you be more fluent in the local language, or not. I spent over 30 years of my life in the Middle East, on and off, but because everybody in the company I was working for spoke fluent English, and the fact that all merchants you had to deal with also spoke fluent English makes you less prone to have a need to pick up a local lingo. In retrospect, I wish I had more that just very basic knowledge of Arabic. Would perhaps make it easier in those few tight spots I found myself in. The same goes for Thailand. Wife speaks fluent English, her family doesn't, but we don't socialize that much. I don't socialize at all with other Thais, apart from the necessary interactions like hospitals and merchant interaction where I can use my limited Thai. If I was living alone, perhaps in a larger city I would have no choice but to pick up more Thai. Don't socialize with western expats either. What I have seen, they like to group together in their little social expat ghettos, and have no need to learn local language.
