  1. +1 on this, works great. Been using it for years. Lets' you chose the download video resolution too.
  2. True words are spoken! Been there done that, lost money.....
  3. I've been running Windows 11 in virtual machine for some time now, and so far don't like it much. Why do they insist to change things that work well, interface wise? And there are now rumors that Win11 will have adverts in the next update. However, I'm going to build a new rig this week based on i9-13900, and some sources say that Microsoft has collaborated with Intel and Win11 is tailored to take advantage of the new Intel processor architecture. It's supposed to adjust the workload more efficiently between the P-cores and E-cores. Will have to investigate more, and maybe run some benchmarks before I commit. This is what Intel says: "Intel® Thread Director sends the right workload to the right core at the right time. It helps prioritize and manage the distribution of workloads, sending tasks to the most optimized thread. This feature is on by default and works in tandem with the operating system for intelligent workload distribution. To get the full capabilities of Intel Thread Director, pair a select 13th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processor with Windows 11."
  4. Hua Hin airport was originally meant for use by Royal Family. What's gonna happen when one Royal decides to visit the Hua Hin Palace? Will the airport close for other operations while the police, security and all the entourage arrive? Years ago, I was almost stuck there while precisely this happened. Fortunately, all passengers for my flight were checked in already, so we took off 30 minutes earlier.
  5. You've gotta be kidding me! This is the most vile concoction ever made by man.... All with fermented fish and crab. I would rather have a McDonald..... Wife is a great fan of this, and sour curries with fermented fish stomach. And they say that Swedish surstömming is terrible.....
  6. Interesting article from CNBC. Germany has shut down its last three nuclear power plants, and some climate scientists are aghast https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/18/germany-shuts-down-last-nuclear-power-plants-some-scientists-aghast.html
  7. Just two days after Germany shuts down its remaining 3 reactors, Finland brings online its latest nuclear power plant. At 1,600MWe it is Europe largest, and together with the other two plants will supply 40% of the countries electricity. Just when surrounding countries push for "renewables" and start discovering the reality, they will also start buying electricity from outside. Produced mostly by.... eh.... nuclear power. Seems you need to update your figures, placeholder.
  8. Government propaganda. Been there recently and general populace are very unhappy with the current energy situation. When peoples electric bill is higher than the rent, something is very wrong. Of course, the problem was created by the Green Party when they were part of the previous coalition government. Now that the damage is done, it will take long time, and be very expensive to rectify. The official propaganda will not tell you how much expensive electricity they have to import, just to cover the usage. And, like I said, they bring back mothballed reactors and planning for new ones. Please don't include hydro in your renewables. Hydro has been used by Sweden and Norway for decades now, before even the first ever PV panel was manufactured, and before the word "renewables" existed. The best thing about hydro is that it is part of Base energy supply, 24/7, always on, just like oil/gas/coal and nuclear. Unlike your other "renewables". Personally, I'm not against renewable energy sources, but I really hate the wind turbines. They are really fugly and destroy the landscape. Looks better on the sea. Solar is much better, but takes up a lot of space. While a SMR can be deployed on 4,000 square meters, the equivalent solar needs 100-200 times more space.
  9. Yeah, just ask the Swedes that cannot pay their electric bills what they think about your renewables... A very big chunk of the renewable energy in Sweden comes from hydro, which has been used for decades. Also, Sweden has decided to bring back online nuclear reactors that were previously shut down, and is planning to build more. You should get your facts from a more reliable source. Here's the chart for Sweden. Note the percentage of nuclear.
  10. You seem to forget that this is where the most technologically advanced countries are located. Those that actually develop your "green renewable" energy solutions. But, by all means, let's get rid of them and bring back the population of the planet to a more manageable 2 billion. Then we'll not need solar, wind turbines and even nuclear..... just use your wood powered stove to heat during winter.
  11. So actually less wind will generate more electricity... hmm. That would suggest that no wind will generate infinite electricity.... Just like dividing by zero, right.
  12. Perhaps the few million people that live in those regions. Basically anywhere above 60 deg North.
  13. Just to add. When the sun finally shines, it's very low on the horizon and with very low irradiation. Just acknowledge that your "renewable energy" is not a panacea for worlds energy supply. Additionally, with the global warming coming fast, we can expect a much more violent weather. Your turbines will have to be shut down, if they don't blow down. Then you will say, "Oh, I wish we had that Toshiba 4S reactor buried in the ground giving us electricity, drinking water, and hydrogen to power our vehicles."
  14. Hmm, batteries in minus 50 degrees Celsius that last for 6 months, and wind turbines when there is no wind blowing.... Yeah, sure... You're on!
  15. Oh, they would exist if it wasn't for the oil and coal lobbyists in the US. Toshiba 4S 30MWe SMR was ready to be deployed in Alaska several years ago, and then suddenly was stopped by the lobbyists. Then, there is, of course, Akademik Lomonosov. The Russian floating nuclear power station, delivering 35MWe just as I type this. It's deployed in the Arctic, where the sun don't shine for 6 months a year. Would like to see your solar and batteries work there. And more are under way. The problem is not with nuclear power, but the politicians and lobbyists serving their own interests. And the green zealots having their own agenda.
  16. The world of nuclear is changing very rapidly. New reactor technologies are coming online. SMR are the future of nuclear. I'm sure nobody wants to invest in multi TWt nuclear power plants with all the restrictions and regulations. In fact, the biggest showstopper for full deployments of SMR technology, are the government regulations which are focusing primarily on huge TWt NPPs. SMR's can be a size of a shipping container, are fully automated, have passive safety, and do not require onsite human operation. Re-fueling in 30-50 years.
  17. Your posts show clearly that you know very little about modern nuclear power generation, and modern nuclear power plants. Perhaps you should educate yourself rather than blindly quote green propaganda. As usual, the costs for wind and solar do not include the manufacturing and disposal of individual components. And the lifetime of wind and solar components are much less than those of nuclear power plants. And, of course, there is this thing when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow. Where will you get your power from then? Or are you just hoping that Musk will come up with a new super battery... Unfortunately nuclear got a bad name because operational failures in case of TMI, and design flaws in case of Chernobyl, and Fukushima. All the green zealots just jumped on that like flies on <deleted>. TMI was over 40 years ago, but they just can't let go.
  18. So tried this abomination, and it's marginally better than ELIZA from 50 nears ago. The marginality comes from the fact that this thing can access the internet, is all. Just another dumb <deleted> computer program.
  19. That was a few years back, as you say. The best one I could find now is this http://i.nvade.it/cg5. Just like the MoBo manufacturers generally don't include more than 4 SATA ports, the case manufacturers don't include more than 2-4 3.5" HDD slots, sometimes shared with 2.5" SSDs.
  20. I think you mean Patman. All my rigs all sit in Lian-Li cases, apart from HTPC.
  21. While I have to admit that you PC rigs are very esthetic and artsy, it's not my kind of auto-strata. I prefer closed cases to keep the ants and dust out, and tucked away out of sight. Maybe 40+ years on a raised floor among the mostly blue colored anonymous boxes reflects on my preferences. I don't buy anything pre-built either.
  22. There is definitely one in his rig. Just below the PSU.
  23. Haven't seen a NUC with an i9 processor. Haven't seen any with more than 2 memory slots. M.2 don't have the capacity I require, and if you now talking external caddy for the spinners and SSD's, what's the point of a NUC, Might as well build a proper tower. And what about the graphics card? Does that go into a caddy as well?
  24. If you look around, you'll find that most socket 1700 MoBo's have only 4 SATA ports. You'll have to go above mid range or go specialist boards to get 6 SATA or more. Comes with a price. The manufacturers seem to include 3-4 M.2 slots instead. The OP PSU is a Corsair MT850W. Corsair is a well known quality manufacturer. I use many components from them. 850 watt is sufficient to drive a fair size rig.
  25. All the NUCs I've seen come with low end processors and low memory. No expansion capabilities. And do pray tell how I would fit 4 spinners, 2 SSD and an RTX4070Ti inside the case.
