  1. I beg to differ, VLC has lost a lot of functionality over the years. IMO, the most advanced player at the moment is PotPlayer. It also has the capability to display two subtitles at the same time and has a very modern user interface.
  2. I think you mean that websites and New Tab open in Thai. Had the same problem. Very annoying this localization stuff.... Solved it by going to msn.com click on the cog in the upper right, open Region & language, and select English. All websites open in English now.
  3. Just an update for future reference to whoever might need it. Documents I submitted to the Immigration: Form TM6 filled in and with photo attached Copies of relevant passport pages (ID page and all the extension pages) Account statement bank letter (1 day old) Copy of updated bankbook (updated on the application day) Hand drawn map to my house (the same I submitted for married extensions) Copy of wife's Tabien Baan Copy of our marriage certificate The last item, I was told, was needed because I changed from married to retired extension. Would not be needed next time. The IO doing my application asked if my wife was there, and called her to sit with me, but didn't ask her anything, or to sign anything. For all that mattered it could have been my Mia Noi..... The only question that came up was why the bank account started in April. I replied that I've cancelled the old account I used for married extension and started a new one. Also, I keep 1 million in the fixed account. Seem to be liked by IO's and avoids any problems with proving your financial status. It's also good to have 200K baht as an emergency fund, if need arises. All items need to be verified against the originals. Lucky me having marriage certificate copies and the original. All in all it took about 15 minutes from seeing the IO to getting the passport back with the stamps. They also updated my 90 day reporting. This might be because I just got back from Europe 2 weeks prior.
  4. Thanks to all who shared their comments. I'm off to get the bank letter tomorrow, and Immigration on Friday (2.5 hours drive). We'll see how it goes.
  5. Thanks for the update ubonjoe. The money is in a fixed account so unlikely to be touched in a year. I meant TM7 form, same as for married extension, finger-slip. I know that each Immigration Office have their own peculiar requirements, that's why I specifically mentioned Hua Hin.
  6. I have finally given in to the IO intimidation every time we went for married extension, and have decided to change to retirement extension this time. I am preparing the required documentation and would appreciate any comments if I have missed something. This is specific for the Hua Hin Immigration Office. • Required money have been seeded for 4 months in a fixed account. • Account statement letter from the bank • Copy of the bankbook, updated on the day of application • Copy of the relevant passport pages • Hand drawn map to the location of my house • TM8 form and photo I don’t have rental receipts as I’m staying in my wife’s house. Is a copy of her Tabien Baan and her ID acceptable instead? I also have yellow Tabien Baan and a pink ID card. Also, do the Immigration need two copies of the documentation?
  7. Like it cool and low RH when sleeping. AC on 25, all windows and curtains closed. Always have some water next to the bed. When I was is Saudi, AC was always on, constant 25C in the house.
  8. Sorry to break your party, but the Big Bad Tobacco companies already have in in hand.
  9. Eisenhower was right when he famously said: "War is good for business".
  10. "...stand up to take a snake’s hiss..." What is a snake's hiss in this context? Never heard this expression and Google didn't help either. Or is it some cockney rhyming slang?
  11. Annoying? It certainly smells better and is much less harmful to others than tobacco smoke. Why don't they just ban all tobacco products instead. Oh, I forgot, big monopoly family businesses....
  12. No English variant. Benzene is a chemical compound, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzene and a large component of Gasoline (or petrol if you like). Gas in this context is just American short for Gasoline.
  13. Totally agree! I have started playing Halo (BTW, the latest Halo Infinite, it's free to play on Steam), and really, nothing beats DOOM for the sheer ferocity of the gameplay. Nothing better to relax to after a hard day's work. Still, I like the Halo TV series. It's quite brutal in parts where the story goes.
  14. Today (19/5) is the last episode of season 1 of Halo. Sci-Fi TV series based on the famous game. Quite watchable. IMO, if you're into that genre. The only thing that spoils it for me a bit, is that the humanity in 26th century, while having FTL space ships, still use ICE vehicles running on rubber tires and AK-47 (what a resilient rifle surviving 500 years!), while the aliens have some real kickass gear. Otherwise, I think the story and FX are very good. Have downloaded the game, see how it compares to DOOM.
  15. Last year I had an MRI in Samitivej Sukhumvit. The total price including doctor consultations was 28900 baht. It was a special price at the time as normally they charged close to 40000 just for the MRI. When all was finished, the clinic reception just gave me a slip of paper to be presented at the cashier, and let me go. When I spent 4 days in the ICU and later in the VIP room in my local government hospital, they wanted payment every 3 days. Again, some years back my wife needed to consult a doctor, and we went to Bumrungrad. They wanted payment for lab and consultation before we even met the doctor. So it certainly will vary between the hospitals.
  16. There is no "Visa Number" field on the TM8 form. Only what category, and where and when issued. I will have a copy of the latest extension page.
  17. Picture is on the TM8 form, but I was also thinking of the original visa (non-im O). This is in an older passport, so I'll probably take a copy of the main page and the visa, just in case.
  18. It's over 4 years ago that I applied for one, so don't remember now. Couldn't find anything searching, so asking here... Apart from TM8 form, what other documentation (copies PP etc.) is needed for re-entry permit?
  19. Hope they make child seats for the flatbed of a truck....????
  20. Yes, Tappers is the way to go! 6.5% and tastes like a real beer. And you can't beat the price. Cheaper than Heineken. Taste wise reminds me of Calsberg Sort Guld (Black Gold), one of my favorites.
  21. Complete Season 01 of Vikings: Valhalla is now available. As usual, full of historic inaccuracies, "artistic freedom", and wokenes. Perhaps the biggest point of contention is casting a black woman as a historically famous King (Jarl) Haakon Sigurdsson of Norway. Not only changing the race, but the gender as well, makes a lot of people, especially in Scandinavian countries, very upset. Let me just say it once and for all. THERE WERE NEVER ANY BLACK VIKINGS, men or women! Ever! Period! So take it for whatever it is... A fantasy flick, not based on history at all but using historical names.
  22. I think the OP is looking for something like that. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/internet-radio-receiver-wifi-wr-336n-portable-digital-radio-with-rechargeable-battery-bluetooth-receiver-i2706973480-s9773656637.html? Personally, I wouldn't bother. Phone with a good BT speaker will have far superior sound and be far more flexible too.. I feed my Onkyo Home Theater receiver with BT sound from my phone. And btw, my TV is almost always on during the day. I replace them every 3-4 years, because of new features. So far none has broken. Don't know where the OP got the idea that they break when you leave them on. The main idea being not to chose the cheap Chinese variety.
