  1. Well, I'm kinda salivating for the new Intel Alder Lake processors. Looks like there will be a new rig for me next year once the availability of i9 and Socket 1700 MoBo's is stabilized. The word is that Intel has worked together with Microsoft, and Win11 will run much faster and more efficient on the Alder Lake due to changes in Scheduler to take advantage of the different cores. Seems I will have no choice there. To that effect I'm running Windows 11 in VMware on my main rig and ThinkPad. VMware 16.2 will allow you to create a virtual TPM. I installed a Windows 10 that got registered and upgraded to Windows 11 that now is registered too. It runs quite fast, but there are "features" of Win11 that I definitely dislike, context menu being one of them. I prefer VMware as I have used it for years, and have a free key for Workstation Pro from my previous employer, but VMware Player is free to use and much more sophisticated than Hyper-V. I also run the free version of VMware ESXi hypervisor on another rig, but this one doesn't support Win11 and runs only couple of Linux instances.
  2. That is a lot of bullocks. Wife has been waiting for several weeks now for an appointment. What you are saying is that it is available for everybody in BKK maybe. We are down South, we don't count....
  3. Culture? What culture? The Culture of brown envelopes and saving face? That is more important than freedom?.... He must be ethnic Chinese, they invented that.
  4. I am pretty sure that this case will end just like the case of the police officer that killed two British backpackers in Kanchanaburi some years back. He was convicted and sentenced to life in what was really a phony trial, and then everything went very quiet. Wouldn't be surprised if he's out and enjoying his life right now. After all, RTP look after their own. They might be bad boys, but they pay their dues. Literally.
  5. I'll bet you nobody told them that the bars are all closed, apart from a few in tourist ghettos, and everything closes at 21:00 hours or 23:00 at the latest.... What a holiday! Would rather go to Spain or Portugal.
  6. I registered with them on Oct 20, got appointment confirmation on the Nov 2 for Nov 5. Pfizer jab at Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin. I'm in Prachuap province.
  7. Oh, I think it's time for you to take off your rose colored spectacles, wake up and smell the napalm.
  8. Oh, but you should know...They already told you. They will all arrive on their private planes...
  9. I don't know what a Ute is, but for whatever it's worth: The increased diesel price does not only affect the liter price at the pump. It's not only that I have to pay some extra baht, in fact 30% more over the past 6 years, but in Thailand everything is transported by the trucks. From the foodstuff to roof tiles. So increased diesel price affects a lot of items apart from truckers income. And considering that during these Covid times a lot of Thais have lost their income, they are right to be angry. Please stop comparing fuel prices in your county to Thailand. Consider that the minimum wage there is 30 or more times higher than here, and there is a well developed transport and communication infrastructure. And if you're unemployed your government will look after you (unless you're American). You are a millionaire here with you foreign income or pension so maybe a few baht extra to pay does not affect you much, but a lot of ordinary Thais suffer. I hear it every day from my wife, and I spend considerable amount of resources to help my immediate family here.
  10. Strange comment... If I was making a living, I would be there with the truckers demonstrating. But I still want cheap fuel for my transport. I live in the boonies, there is no alternative transport option here.
  11. Well, the trick seems to be doing things without seeing to be doing things. Like, take a trip to Trang for a beach vacation, and mysteriously the karaoke burns down... I'm just saying.
  12. Nothing that the Thai government can't subsidize, just like in the rest of the world.
  13. well, this is not the rest of the world. This is Thailand. And I care too. I have a diesel truck...
  14. I find that AC/DC generally does the trick, but you'll have to play it loud! I take it that you must be located in Issan somewhere, if everything else fails, might be worth to take a trip to Nakhorn Si Tamarat and have a chat with the boys there. They can be very persuasive if you need....
  15. Why wouldn't I download porn? Just today downloaded several GB of JAV from Pornhub. Have been doing it for 20years now.... here and in Saudi Arabia... although is Saudi was with VPN, but once the torrent was going I could disconnect the VPN.
  16. Agree with that. For English only keyboards the best bet is AliExpress. Very well priced, takes 10-14 days to arrive and no custom duty. My preferred keyboard brand is Rapoo.
  17. I am surprised that South Korea was number one. Always thought is was Cuba. Anyways, I would rather go to Norway for healthcare than here....

  19. Just for info for all who might be wanting to order. I ordered one of the pre-configured heavily discounted TP X1 Carbon Gen9. Was almost what I wanted config wise. And got Win 10 Pro and 3 year warranty in the discount. If I would configure to the same specs, it would be almost 30% more expensive, with discounts, and shipment in 8 weeks. Ordered on the 8th Sep, received on the 19th. That included 3 days to clear the payment by Lenovo. Was shipped from Singapore by UPS. Delivered to me by Kerry. Great little machine. It's replacing my aging X1 Carbon Gen 1.
  20. I think that Thailand had it's time. And it's over now. Unless, of course, you have bonds to the country, like family or business investment. It has become increasingly more expensive, and I often wonder how the locals, on their very low salaries, can survive. This is beside the current Covid issues. For the six years that I have been here permanently, I have seen the cost of food in the markets rise by estimated 20%. Certainly the fuel has gone up much more. Alcohol prices, and I'm talking here quality wines, top shelf spirits and imported beers, are much more expensive than in EU. Granted, some of this is baht exchange rate manipulations, but the increase in taxes that hits us every couple of years doesn't help. The only thing that still makes Thailand on the list are the rather beautiful and easy women, even for the older retiree folks. And the security in the country, which, despite all what happens, beats the closes retiree neighbor, the Philippines. Please don't even bother to mention Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam. They are way below Thailand. If I had to chose now, and didn't have a Thai family binding, I would go for Portugal or Croatia. Both in the EU, have great climate, very civilized, access to healthcare for EU citizens, and cheaper than the rest of Europe. In fact, from Croatia I could get in my car and be in my home country in less than 20 hours, if need be.
  21. Escape album was the first 30cent tape cassette that I bought when arrived in Saudi Arabia in 1983. Sure it brings memories...
