Thais love to drive on the right side. I see this every day. No big deal, just go around them.

Seems to me the Thai people would catch them and eat them. Why has this idea caught on?

Wife Drove Over Neighbour's Dog

I did not see anything, so it did not happen. But if it's true story, I nominate your wife for '' Citizen of the year''. -
Purpose of dogs in traditional Thai households?

My good friend once said '' dogs are nothing but poop and fur factories''. I agree with him. -
Cabinet approves tourist fee of 150-300 baht for all foreign tourists
dcalaska replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
You better do the math again. 1,000 B = US $ 29.24 @ 34.2 B/ $. If you think it's so little money, can you pay the fee for me please. Thank you very much. -

Oh yeah this help tourism, 555. 300 B arrival fee and 700 B departure fee comes to 1,000 B. Does anyone really think this money goes to promote tourism? Greedy SOBs -
Are Visa runs possible as they once were
dcalaska replied to AlaskaDave's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Feb. 8, 2023 update. Scroll back to my Dec 18, 2022 post for the detailed visa run/border bounce. Yesterday, Feb. 8th, 2023 I had three days left on my 2nd 60-day METR. Went to Chiang Khong again but this time things went a bit different at the Laos Visa on Arrival window. When asked how long I plan to stay, I said' 'Go back to Thailand today''. The good; No need to fill out the two-page application or submit a photo. They seem to know the situation well by now with visa runs. The Bad; he said ''I give you stamp in, stamp out quickly, 1,800 B''. Would not take US $. He took my 2,000 B, pulled out his wallet, gave me 200 B change, put the 2,000 B in his wallet and put his wallet back in HIS pocket. I don't think Laos immigration actually got paid the standard set 1,500 B fee. Even if they did, the officer pocketed 300 B. just for doing his job. My feeling is he pocketed the entire 1,800 B. Grift! One other good thing, I was able to buy Lao Dark beer at 30 B and bring back to Thailand. I hope I never have to go back there for any reason. No problem getting 60 more days in Thailand on my METR. -
December 13, 2022 Update. Tuesday I went to Chiang Khong on a Border/VISA Run. Free parking on left side just before the guard shack. Exit Thailand with 4 days left on my METV. ( Multiple entry tourist visa) Buy a bus ticket , 20 B to Laos immigration, Visa on arrival. Two pages of Laos visa application, one passport photo and 20 B fee. (grift) Next window, get an entry stamp. Next window pay $40.oo US, or 1,500 B. Enter Laos. U-turn, exit Laos. Nothing said about same day exiting. Buy a 25 B bus ticket to Thailand immigration. Had to wait about 1/2 hour. Beer Lao for sale at the bus stop. 25 & 30 B. Had to fill out TM 6 card and show address in Thailand. The officer made many odd faces as he processed my visa. He did not look happy, but gave me another 60 days. Walk back to parking lot, check the time, 3 hours and 20 mins. Way too long, but possible. Total cost $40.00 US plus 65 B. Wishing Mai Sai will open soon. Only $10.00 and 15 mins there.

What do I need to come to Thailand
dcalaska replied to juice777's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You need a very high tolerance for very loud noises, a lot of dog <deleted> everywhere and an open mind. Many vehicles modify the exhaust systems just to make loud noise. It's a real public nuisance. Dogs run freely on the streets with no restrictions. Watch where you step. -

Where can I look at colors for my interior walls?
dcalaska replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
My Professional Painter friend says, ''You can choose any interior color you like as long as it's white, white or white''. Words of wisdom. If you need color in a room add colored furnishings, art etc. -
Pet Friendly Resorts - Nan Province
dcalaska replied to Basso53's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
If you find a hotel that allows pets please let us know the Hotel's name so we can Blacklist that hotel. Who would want to stay in a stinky, infested hotel room. Not me, EVER!! -
About time. I hear many GRAB delivery bikes in my area with modified exhaust. Wish the GRAB company would require the delivery drivers use NON-modified vehicles. I hear about 10- 20 % of vehicles with modified exhaust over all. The police should follow the law and get them off the public streets, destroy them forever, and fine the drivers 50,000 B. Why anyone would advertise via loud exhaust they are insecure in their manhood, ( small penis), is beyond reason.

Getting a METR is a real pain in the ass. The average Joe cannot wade through the complex online application. One must be computer savvy. Files must be converted, downloaded, scans, photos, banks statements for 6 months , hotel bookings, on and on and on. And then they say you must provide a very good reason why asking for a METR, but there is no place on the application to explain why asking for a METR. Oh yeah and then they want $200 US dollars. pass or fail.
