Heck yes, I remember when a large LEO was 640 ML and cost 40 B or less.

Twenty-Five years ago, Pai was a great place to hang out. Decent rooms could be had for 250 B, meals cost 30-100 B, the local grocery store sold good coffee and necessities at reasonable prices. The town had charm in a relaxed atmosphere. Yes, there were falang tourist, but not over-crowded. Thai locals and tourist got along well. I seem to remember the Pai Hot Springs was free for everyone. Fast forward to 2024, I made the mistake of staying there one night. Not many rooms available upon arrival and they were way expensive. They wanted 600 B for small room with nothing except a bare mattress on the floor and a shared bath down the hall. Walking about the town was nothing like the old days. No charm, not relaxing. I made up my mind then, NEVER go back there. Pai is OVER. Done. Finished. The good thing is, I was there 25 years ago when it was still a great place to visit.

3 foreigners caught in Phuket for illegal motorcycle modifications
dcalaska replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
It's about time the police do something about this problem. In my small northern town, the police could be raking in 50,000 to 100,000 B per day @ 1,000 B per illegal modification. -
Welcome to ''Noise Land''. Loud noises abound. Barking dogs all day, all night, small cc motorbikes with modified exhaust, diesel pickups with modified exhaust , pickup trucks driving around with monster speakers at full blast promoting some sales event and more. All for very little real use or value, just to make noise. Guess it's a Thai thing. TIT.

You can survive on 20K B. 90 % of Thais do it on less. Many do it on 10K or less.

EVA sells tickets at a very competitive price. If flying economy class and don't mind sitting wherever they seat you then there is no extra charge. But if you absolutely have to sit in a preferred seat, then it's best to pay a little extra for that. In the end EVA tickets are probably still a good buy. I flew last year on EVA no problems.

With low-cost airlines you get what you pay for and pay for what you get. There are much better options out there.

Will new air-quality laws cure Thailand’s smog-driven health crisis?
dcalaska replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
In short, NO. There are already ''laws'' on the books , but very little or no enforcement. -
The Thai govt. could help by enforcing laws about vehicles with modified exhaust system that pump out excessive amounts of pollution. Especially diesel pickup trucks belching excessive black smoke. The laws are already in place. Modified exhausts on motorcycles are another source of excessive pollution. In the province where I stay, about 30 % or more, vehicles are in violation of the law. The traffic police could collect a very large amount of money and use it to put vehicles in violation back to stock factory exhaust systems. Not likely to happen in my lifetime but hope for the next generation.
