Jaggg88 replied to piston broke's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
You qualify for your state pension when you reach 66 years old and not 64. You need to contact the overseas pension centre by email. https://www.gov.uk/international-pension-centre -

Like most countries Thailand has the 6 month passport validity rule but immigration rarely apply it. However airlines do, so check with the airline for a definitive answer. I saw on another forum that the 6 month rule does not apply to Visa on Arrival and these tourists only need 30 days past their return date. The guy posted a screen shot of the rule.

Yes exactly. It's the lower financial requirements that make marriage extension worth while. Only 400,000 in the bank for 2 months prior (or 40,000 per month) and as far as I'm aware no restrictions on keeping that money after the extension is granted. I believe the retirement extension has to have 800,000 three months prior to application (or 65,000 a month) and you have to leave a balance - not sure of the rules on that tho'. BTW the 30 day consideration period is because your application is sent to head office (Chiang Mai or Bangkok) for approval whereas retirement extensions are granted locally.

Any bank but tends to be only larger branches as lots of staff do not know you can do it. Its been a few years since I've done it but it took 3 attempts before I found a branch that would do it. Tourist areas are easier.

Tourist Visa Question
Jaggg88 replied to Simon1287's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I've had 2 non O visas in the last 7 months based on marriage and I noticed the e-visa instruction says £10,000 in the bank but both mine have been issued with just a couple grand in the bank so I assumed it was a typo for £1000. -
Government Approves CAAT Plan to Tackle Soaring Ticket Prices
Jaggg88 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Correct. Airlines have not brought all their aircraft back in to service yet as they made most of their staff redundant and now have to employ and train new staff. Demand is outstripping supply and forcing prices up. The last quarter of last year Thai Airways tripled its profit compared to the third quarter. My friend from the UK came for a 3 week holiday last September and paid £470 return with Turkish airlines and now a flight on the same date is £790. -
Possibility to use Tourist eVisa?
Jaggg88 replied to trax33's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The poster applied for the e-visa while in his own country, he states that in his post. Nobody is suggesting applying for an e-visa while in a neighbouring country. -
Possibility to use Tourist eVisa?

Not true. I don't know about sea but you can enter by land with a 60 day single entry tourist (TR) e-visa. -
Possibility to use Tourist eVisa?
Jaggg88 replied to trax33's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This is simply not true. I got my e-visa in the UK and got a flight to Singapore for business and then another flight to Bangkok and used my e-visa - so coming from a 3rd country. It doesn't matter what country you arrive from as long as your passport and visa are correct. You also do not need to use the flight that you used to obtain the visa as I changed mine and it didn't matter. -
I wish she could give my Mrs some lessons on haggling - she's useless!

400,000 baht bank account question
Jaggg88 replied to sagra's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Nobody can answer your question as everything depends on the individual IO on the day. So my advice is update both books and go and ask their advice but make sure they know you have options (extension etc) or they may see it as an opportunity for an unofficial fine. My friend was in exactly the same boat when applying for his first retirement extension and he was told he would have to pay 18,000 baht to fix it, which he did because he thought he would have to leave and start again. He was only days short of the full 3 months and could have simply extended his non O for 1900 baht. He was married by the way but the IO had convinced him to apply for retirement instead of marriage extension. -

Border Bounce to Padang Besar from Phuket
Jaggg88 replied to Saigon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you want to fly then just purchase a fake onward ticket, costs about $10. The rules for re-entering on a visa-exempt state you must show 20,000 in Thai cash so whether the IO accepts your Thai banking app balance is up to him/her. I've never been asked to show the money or ticket at immigration in 20 years but I've only ever done 2 land border bounces. Although I have had to show the onward ticket to airlines when coming on a one way ticket - sometimes, not always, as it depends on the agent checking you in. -

That's a question for your local immigration office as they make up the rules and not the online reporting system.
