  1. Rome and Vienna 2018 and 2019 so yes must be recent.
  2. Yes, our bill has nearly double compared to last month. Now it always increases in April but not double and our friends, family and neighbours are reporting the same ????
  3. There isn't a farang word to describe these revered Buddhist councilors and fortuneteller is something of a misnomer as they do not foretell the future but try and influence someones future by counselling them. They also pray to Buddha on their clients behalf in an attempt to change their fortunes for the better. They do not charge a fee but clients make a donation of goods or money for successful services rendered so if she wasn't good at her job she wouldn't get paid. Buddhism is steeped in superstition and even the government have public buildings exorcised of spirits by these Buddhist councilors (fortunetellers).
  4. Flights are still much higher than pre-Covid so that may be taking its toll on numbers. I had to pay tourism tax in Rome and Vienna and it was collected by the hotel on check in.
  5. If that is your total time in Thailand in the last year then you have nothing to worry about but you could be asked for an onward ticket within the initial 30 days because that is the official rule for visa-exempt entries, your airline may ask also, so buy two cheap flights you can cancel for free or buy two fake tickets (cost about $10, there are many websites).
  6. I got a non O e-visa based on marriage to Thai citizen last month and there is no requirement for insurance. I was wondering on what basis your wife was applying for a non O? The only visas I know that require insurance are OA and OX. A tourist (TR) visa is no more complicated than a non O and neither require insurance. If she wants more than the 90 days (60 + 30) that a TR visa allows you can always send her on a border bounce with a travel agency that specialize in that service - they organize everything.
  7. I think I remember you dancing on the stage. My friend tucked 20 baht in your Y fronts and I complained that you didn't have a number on your wrist ???? Only joking. I was a bit wild when young but never upset any locals or behaved out of hand as it was all kept within context of the environment we were in. Now I think a walk around the park in the evening is fun ????
  8. TAT and other bodies were pushing for it to be extended until the end of the year so a change of leadership could listen to their requests.
  9. The way the scam works is they inform the target that there has been suspicious activity on their account and the bank want him to transfer funds to a safe secure account while they investigate. It's become a worldwide common scam. UK banks will not let you transfer large sums now without confirming why and they do block transfers.
  10. He can buy a fake onward 30 day ticket for $10 to keep the airline happy
  11. It will be too little too late and the laws that are passed will not be enforced ????
  12. You qualify for your state pension when you reach 66 years old and not 64. You need to contact the overseas pension centre by email. https://www.gov.uk/international-pension-centre
  13. OP are you the ex boyfriend? ????
  14. You are not importing fruit but diseases and pests that are not indigenous to the Australian continent and that's why they are so strict.
  15. Like most countries Thailand has the 6 month passport validity rule but immigration rarely apply it. However airlines do, so check with the airline for a definitive answer. I saw on another forum that the 6 month rule does not apply to Visa on Arrival and these tourists only need 30 days past their return date. The guy posted a screen shot of the rule.
  16. My local office charged me 500 baht (no receipt) for a residency certificate ???? it's a shame as they are very straight and honest with everything else.
  17. Yes exactly. It's the lower financial requirements that make marriage extension worth while. Only 400,000 in the bank for 2 months prior (or 40,000 per month) and as far as I'm aware no restrictions on keeping that money after the extension is granted. I believe the retirement extension has to have 800,000 three months prior to application (or 65,000 a month) and you have to leave a balance - not sure of the rules on that tho'. BTW the 30 day consideration period is because your application is sent to head office (Chiang Mai or Bangkok) for approval whereas retirement extensions are granted locally.
  18. Any bank but tends to be only larger branches as lots of staff do not know you can do it. Its been a few years since I've done it but it took 3 attempts before I found a branch that would do it. Tourist areas are easier.
  19. I used to buy a fake ticket for about $10 just to keep the airline happy. Immigration never ask
  20. I've had 2 non O visas in the last 7 months based on marriage and I noticed the e-visa instruction says £10,000 in the bank but both mine have been issued with just a couple grand in the bank so I assumed it was a typo for £1000.
  21. Correct. Airlines have not brought all their aircraft back in to service yet as they made most of their staff redundant and now have to employ and train new staff. Demand is outstripping supply and forcing prices up. The last quarter of last year Thai Airways tripled its profit compared to the third quarter. My friend from the UK came for a 3 week holiday last September and paid £470 return with Turkish airlines and now a flight on the same date is £790.
  22. The poster applied for the e-visa while in his own country, he states that in his post. Nobody is suggesting applying for an e-visa while in a neighbouring country.
  23. Not true. I don't know about sea but you can enter by land with a 60 day single entry tourist (TR) e-visa.
  24. This is simply not true. I got my e-visa in the UK and got a flight to Singapore for business and then another flight to Bangkok and used my e-visa - so coming from a 3rd country. It doesn't matter what country you arrive from as long as your passport and visa are correct. You also do not need to use the flight that you used to obtain the visa as I changed mine and it didn't matter.
